Same I thought it was pretty good!! I was expecting it to be really bad based on what you said but I thought it was just fine :) the skit overall was really good
Whattt!? I just watch the clip and it was really good and quite enjoyable! The singing is not as bad as you think it was to be honest I wouldn’t even have thought that you did that all last minute. Don’t be too hard on yourself it was amazing!
I was just barely saved the embarrassment of singing at a con. I am a terrible vocalist, but I was fresh out of ideas for the cosplay skit so I was playing with the idea of singing. My family thankfully convinced me to drop the singing idea (they were kind about it, but still honest). I'm not terribly good at acting either but it was preferable to the singing. I'm a little embarrassed looking back at my old skits. I've picked up wheelchair dancing in the last year so I think that will be my thing that I do for cosplay skits in the future. It is so hard coming up with ideas that you can perform on stage!
I feel your pain I haven’t done a cosplay skit or done anything on stage cause I’ve been too afraid to put myself out there but I’ve seen my friends do skits and preform on stage and there definitely have been some memorable moments.
If it makes you feel better, when I hear off key singing at cosplay contests, I don't really care, the person put effort in making a skit, an audio, a choreography, etc, and singing can take years to learn well so it's still fine to me! The aim isn't to sing perfectly, but to have fun!
I totally feel you on the first story. A lot of embarrassing moments from my past were made that way (worse) because of people's reactions, where I would have been fine in they hadn't reacted the way they did. It's the worst 😩
I FEEL THIS IN MY SOUL BECAUSE, PLOT TWIST, I DID THE SAME THING AT THE SAME CONVENTION LMAO!! It was called Kei-Kon when I attended, but it was like... 2005 or something? I was supposed to do a dance skit with friends of mine and we were all from different fandoms; I was Kenshin Himura, my friend Katie was supposed to be Inuyasha and our ex-friend was supposed to be Kagome. We'd been rehearsing for weeks on how the skit would go and had it down, but then our ex-friend bailed on us and Katie found out she had to work. So I was left to do the contest on my own... And decided to SING instead of just bail entirely... I THINK the video still exists here on YT, it was so embarrassing... ;; OH And what's worse, I put my scar make up on the wrong side and NO ONE TOLD ME... It was my first cosplay I'd ever made myself. I've often considered going back and remaking it, but the whole thing with the mangaka has made me bail every time... XP
@@AnyaPanda To make matters worse, the instrumental audio wasn't working with their audio system, so I had to sing the song acapella because no one had a speaker we could use for the song on my MP3 player, which I was not prepared to do.
I love preforming but I have terrible stage fright but hearing your stories makes me laugh at my own fears, I’m sorry you went through it but at least you got a good story lol
Omg the same thing happened to me!! I was in a cosplay competition a few years ago singing "The Last Unicorn" as Lady Amalthea, and my music suddenly cut off halfway through 😱 I was terrified 😂 But I carried on. And somehow I won the best performance prize 😂😂
Honestly it's not that bad, I watched it expecting it to be a lot worse. You actually killed it, and if that still doesn't make you feel better I can't remember the cringe I've watched at cons. My memories are filled with what happened to me, so I'm sure the people there hardly remember this 😄
Love your shirt, Anya~ Also, what a champ!! Powering through embarrassing events definitely builds character, I would say. Though, it doesn’t make it any less horrid in the moment. XD
As soon as you said “I practiced without the backing track” I realized where it was going 😭 tracks are often in a different key or tempo so switching suddenly can really throw everything off :/ (I’ve been in my fair share of musicals with various backing tracks, so I’ve experienced the struggle :P )
hey there ! as someone who’s had professional vocal training, word of advice for anyone out there who may be struggling with a song. so, everyone’s vocal range is different. if you really want to sing a song but it doesn’t fit your range, my #1 tip is to transpose the backing track into a key that’s better for you, whether lower or higher. if you don’t know how to do that, if the song is somewhat popular, there’s usually a chance you can find them on RUclips, and making them isn’t that hard! There should be tutorials somewhere. My go-to for pre made tracks in different keys is CurtainUp Musical Theater (if the song is a musical theater song), so that’s my advice as a vocalist. Either way, I applaud you and your friends for getting up there and doing it, any performance is better than no performance.
I just made coffee and saw the notification pop up, what perfect timing and a perfect way to start my day (European greetings included) ✨ I never participated in any cosplay competitions but I was always watching them, especially because some of my friends participated every year 🥰 but omg girl, the pain in your eyes when you told the story, I can feel it 😭 I randomly remember what I did 5, 8, 12, 15 years ago and I die inside every time 😂
I’ve actually had a similar experience. I was performing the first half of “ you need to calm down “ for a production, and I was an entire line of the song behind because I thought there were two eight counts before the lyrics instead of only one, so my music cut off early and it sounded AWFUL I feel your pain
I don’t know what time it is in your part of canada but its 12:00 as in midnight where i am , im happy I’m early bit why did you post so late . Oh well i loved the video anyways
The Smash skit sounds bad but just had a thought... If the concept was that Kid was being arrogant because he's finally in the game, wouldn't not being able to sing properly just add to that arrogance?
Not singing but I played a short song on my harp for a cosplay skit and I still cringe thinking back on how off I was. At one point I stopped briefly because I forgot a note and it felt so awkward when i started playing again but people were already clapping. I pretty much ended the skit there. On the bright side I do remember a couple people coming up to me to say they liked it.
One time I went to a karaoke night while I was in college and the karaoke track they had was in a different key. I'd never heard it before I was supposed to sing so I was struggling.
I get excited sometimes and point out “hey it’s another (insert character name)!” And sometimes it’s fun to take pictures with others in the same cosplay as you. Like once my friend was dressed as Naruto and she took pictures with other narutos and it was cute
What got me was when you said you had months to prepare. To be fair though, I would have procrastinated too. I appreciate you continuing for your friends; once, I was supposed to do a skit with a friend and when I got there, props in hand, they said they weren't doing it...they had my number...they could have texted me :'(
Okay I'm not q professional anything but like, girl, I totally get the feeling of embarrassment and whilst you were telling the story, I, a massive musical nerd who has by myself tried to perfect my voice for Good Morning Baltimore, was just so empathetically worried for you but then i actually watch the skit and like? It's not bad? First off y'all did a GREAT job at the lyrics change it was so fun, and yeah it was pretty off-key but i can tell you the key to that song is PRETTY high and mostly loud i couldn't master it till i get a room where I know i can sing my lungs out and even then it took a bit. My point is that i totally get that embarrassment hut also love the skit so much I'd cover it if i had the tools to /lh

You're right, it really is difficult to come up with skit ideas! I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one who's struggled with that.
Don't worry. It wasn't you who sung terribly, it was Pit. Everyone knows Pit is a terrible singer.
