    If people are wondering why we are in cosplay, they should ask directly instead of whispering behind our backs. We're human!

      Nenie seriously! And the fact that they were whispering "is she from zootopia?" shows that they know! JUST ASK THE COSPLAYER WHO THEY ARE OR WHY THEYRE DRESSED UP! We'll tell you!!

    My english teacher once gave us an extra credit assignment to dress up as a book character. So I came to school in a full on tessa gray cosplay, victorian style dress and everything, and spent an entire day at school like this because I wasn't smart enough to bring a change of clothes for when that class was over. I've never felt so uncomfortable in my life sitting in the cafeteria, and feeling the stares that I was getting.

    i think my most awkward story is when I was cosplaying harley quinn in my own design so I had a low cut top on that was also showed a bit of stomach and a short skirt on with some tights so I was showing quite a bit of skin. I was in a staircase with my friend doing photos when some people in business attaire came down the stairs and looked at us funny. turns out the hotel not only booked a con but a christian bible group as well. AWKWARD!

    Me and a friend were on our way to a convention. In our cosplays. We stopped at a bakery to buy our lunch for the day. Everyone in this room stared at us and I heard that someone whispered: "What are they doing?"
    I was just staring to the woman who served us, and not to think about all these people...
    And I have another weird moment. We make a Photoshoot on a castle. An old woman and - I think so - her husband sa us. The man asked his wife "What are the doing" and the old woman answered: "Thex are cosplayers!". It was so great and weird at the same time.
    And sorry for my english, it is still difficult for me to formulate it... >.>'

    What I hate is when people try to speak in a different language so I won't understand them, I know Spanish and a bit of Chinese and I've heard in both languages people talking about me. But I'm just kinda used to it, so either I stare at them, or just ignore it.

    • @Vensris
      @Vensris 7 лет назад +19

      Piko ピω゚コ This is when you say something along the lines of "I feel so embarrassed for their kids" in the exact same language to a friend/family member that also understands that language, while maintaining full eye contact 😂

  • @Vensris
    @Vensris 7 лет назад +74

    Whenever I have an "awkward" encounter with someone out in public I just try to make whatever I'm doing even more extreme (I don't get embarrassed easily, hence one of the reasons why I'm really [trying to get] into cosplaying)
    For example: if I notice them uncomfortably staring at me belting out lyrics in the car when I'm driving alone, I crank up the tunes, over-exaggerate dance moves, lock eyes, and roll down the windows. All while in a Genos cosplay. :D usually defuses the situation haha

    While I've never had any problems with people staring at me when I cosplay, I've seen it happen to someone before. I had gone to a mall with my family and we see two people in cosplay (One was Grell and I'm not sure who the other one was supposed to be since they were too far away and had their back turned). I didn't notice them until my parents started saying, "Look at that person" "What the heck are they wearing." (This was their first time ever even hearing about cosplay so it's understandable) While they were talking about how weird it was I suddenly begin fangirling by saying "That's Grell from Black Butler!"

  • @rhappanda
    @rhappanda 7 лет назад +86

    My most awkward elevator rides are always at Sakura Con trying to get back to my room. Most people just stare, but it's even worse when they start talking about you "quietly" and then start openly judging you by asking questions. "Do your parents know you do this? Why do you have ears? Why does your hair look funny? Why do you do this?" I can deal with stares, but OHMAN the questions. I always end up being in an elevator that has older people who have no problem doing that. .-.

    (enter into an elevator, dressed in an elaborate cosplay, filled with 'normies', awkward silence/whispers begin. Wait for the doors to close) (turn to the other elevator riders and casually ask,) "I'm looking for something to do this weekend, anybody know of any great events going on?"
    Throws people off every time. They get that 'wait, so this is how you always dress?' look on their face. It's great.

    I was on a train as L from death note and a girl points at me and she was like "that's the kind of hair I want Mum!" and I looked at her with weird L eyes and said "It's a wig" and walked away, it was awesome xD Another cool one was going through the bull ring in Birmingham (a big shopping complex) dressed as Captain Jack and loads of people shouted "Hey jack!" at me. The same day we were on the train and because of the costume I had drawn on a fake beard and when I started talking a guy was like "Woah, I really thought she was a dude until she started talking!" :P at least my cosplay was convincing!

    Last week I met up with a friend of mine to just casually cosplay Madoka (me) and Sayaka (them) from Madoka Magica.I was borrowing a wig of theirs and we decided to get that on in the bathroom of Dunkin' Donuts. Just so we're clear, this is a single bathroom not a huge one with stalls it's one where you lock the actual door and stuff. So it took about 5 minutes to get my choker necklace on and another 5 minutes to do everything else. And every few minutes we would hear a knock on the door. By the time we finished getting me ready, the person knocked EXTREMELY harshly. When we opened the door, there was a woman standing there, FURIOUS, with her hands on her hips. My friend and I awkwardly walked away and once we knew we burst out laughing SO HARD! And for the rest of the time of us hanging out we joked that in that Dunkin' Donuts we'll be known as "The cotton candy haired girls who took way too much time up in the bathroom". 😂😂😂

    well idk about awkward but it IS an elevator story. once at sakuracon a few years ago my sister stepped into an elevator with todd habberkorn ( popular english dub anime voice actor) and there was only him and one other person with their child in a baby stroller and shes in there for a moment and then the other persons stop came and they got out and as they did one of them (dont remember if it was my sister or todd) mentioned the baby stroller the person had their child in and joked about wanting to ride in a stroller and they kept making silly jokes about it until they stopped at a floor and some of my sisters firends noticed him as they got in and started freaking out like "omg a fAmus pursoon" and i think it kind of freaked him out becausse he sort of gt shy and remarked suddenly "well this is my stop so see ya" and left. and to this day i remember that when i think about "famous" or popular people, is that they're just people. they too can have anxiety n stuff so whenever i meet them i talk to them like normal people because they are, normal people with a cool job.

    • @AnyaPanda
      @AnyaPanda  7 лет назад +4

      Crisis Kode Totally! That's such a good takeaway and an important thing to keep in mind, that even if someone is well known like Todd is, they're still just normal people, like you said. I get really anxious talking to people I admire but similarly I've found that they're super easy to talk to when you just stay chill and chat with them like you would any other person. ^.^

    For my Sombra cosplay, I tend to wear a hoodie and shorts over my undergarments and leggings while in full wig, makeup and hairpiece during any kind of transport to the con because I can't sit in the coat. A couple weeks ago we were driving three hours to go to a con for just one day and we stopped at a McDonalds to get some drinks on the way and we went inside. I received like five different compliments from five different people in that McDonalds and I wasn't even completely in the cosplay yet?? And it was mostly awkward cause I didn't know how to react I was in a red hoodie, green shorts and PURPLE LEGGINGS and people kept telling me how nice I looked and one employee went as far as to tell me that I looked like a doll. I have never been more confused about a cosplay experience

    one time i got on an elevator with my family and an elderly couple was on the elevator too. everything was fine but this old woman was wearing SO MUCH PERFUME, and it smelt like bug spray, but i didn't know that it was her perfume. so after a few moments the words slipped out and i said "does it smell like bug spray in here to you guys?" and the old lady looked so offended and when she got off my family said "that was her perfume!!" and i kid you not i wanted to die in that elevator

However the cat in the car was in the backseat and nowbody saw him and conveniently I was in window seat. My dad locked the window because I was getting weird stares from traffic... its not like you could not see a bright red superhero in broad daylight!

    During my very first anime convention, when my brother and I were returning to our room, our elevator said it had reached the second floor and stopped, but the doors never opened. After a minute of waiting, we had come to the conclusion that we were stuck. Oh, and now is probably a good time to mention that there was probably four or five other people in with us (one had a huge suitcase, one was the volunteer running the elevator at the time, and I think one of the others was also in cosplay).
    So, the volunteer guy begins calling one of his friends and the front desk because we couldn't get out, but no one was coming to our rescue. Eventually, trying to make light of the situation, we start joking about how we're going to survive in this elevator for the rest of our lives, and somebody actually passed out duo mints. It's also getting really warm in there, so my head is all sweaty under my wig, and my poor brother is in a suit. We all really just wanted to get out of there because we were all uncomfortable.
    After a good 5-7 minutes (I believe) if waiting, either my brother or the volunteer person (my memory of all this isn't the greatest) gets the brilliant idea to just press the "open door" button a few times... and it actually worked.
    We were also still on the first floor, we had actually sank a few inches down from the floor. In the end, we all took the stairs.
    (If I remember right, I think my brother also took the same elevator back down at a later time and got stuck again, which is just a hilarious thought)

    This is one awkward moment i had in a train station while cosplaying if that counts?
    I was cosplaying amethyst once and i had to get a train to the comic con i was going to with 2 of my friends. In the morning it was ok because there wan't many people there but in the afternoon/evening when i got back from the con as soon as i stepped off the train a woman looked at me and panicked and asked me if i was feeling ok, my face paint had faded from when i first put it on so it made me look sickly. she asked me if i needed a doctor. I quickly explained that it was a cosplay and she looked a lot happier that i wasn't ill but then we had to wait for one of my friends parents to come and pick us up, so we decided to wait in the train station and we were on the train for a while so i needed the loo. I told my friends i would be back in a second, i opened the first door and walked through this tiny hall way with was like 6 steps long and i opened the other door to get to the toilets, as soon as i opened the door i see a mum, a nan and a little boy. The mum did a kind of shocked scream when she saw me and the nan just laughed at her daughter, looked at me and said "good one!" then they started to leave. I awkwardly stepped to the side and the little boy was just staring at me and as they walked in to the 6 steps hallway the little boy says "mummy, why is she purple?" and the mum says "shes wearing a costume".
    I'm a very awkward person when it comes to most social things with people i don't know so this just made me veryyyyy awkward i even removed most of the face paint while i was in there just to stop scaring people which made my friend confused when they saw me walk out so i told my friends about the toilet moment and they just laughed.

    Ahh this reminds me of my first ever convention I decided to cosplay from homestuck and of course painted myself grey but just to our luck there was a buissiness convention going on in the same building plus pride was a few streets down the road so me being a very awkward person when I'm alone would sprint as fast as I could out of my hotel room to meet my friends at the stairs so I didn't feel as awkward... looking back sprinting whole covered in grey paint with horns probably wasn't the best idea...

    I'm going to my first convention as Blue Pearl in a few months, and since we're only going for one day, and the convention center is in a very nearby city, my sister, mom and I are taking the train straight to the convention center. This means that I'll have to put on my full cosplay- body paint, leotard, wig and all-, and publicly wear that to the train station, on the train, and while I'm walking to the arena where the convention is being held. Wish me luck >~

      xhappyponyx I've cosplayed three times using public transport. It's normal to feel self conscious but don't worry, it's funny to see people's reactions... Sometimes they're curious or think you're really cool but are a bit afraid to ask. And maybe I'll find more cosplayers in the train station 😊

      If it makes you feel better, I've ridden the bus in my full military!Lapis cosplay to go to a con. A lot of people stared, but most people seemed pretty chill with it. As long as you have people with you to chat with, and you just try your best to act like it's a normal thing, it usually goes pretty smoothly. ^^

      @LibRoseITM 7 лет назад +4

      Public transport cosplaying is the BEST!! And depending on the popularity of the con, you'll start picking up cosplayers the nearer you get to the con! I love it :D Just let the character out as soon as you step out of your door and you'll feel amazing :) I've done it where non cosplayer con guests have come up to me and said how happy they are that the con experience started on the train ride!! Enjoy ^_^

    Omg I basically had the same situation where I was just heading down to the lobby in my cosplay to just meet up a few other cosplayers for breakfast and I went alone into the elevator. I was literally the only person in that elevator going to the near by con but there was about 5-6 other people in the elevator with me and they were all nicely dressed in suites and here I am as CC in this ridiculous outfit and bright green wig. Definitely didn't feel like I was being judged or anything...

    The last con I attended, their was a business meeting at the hotel, and a volleyball tournament. It was late Saurday, so we were on our way to th rave. I had a horse mask on, and we were on the top floor. we were playin music and at every stop the elevator did, I was danci g as stupidly as I could XD
    One of the volleyball girls just took one look and shook her head at me an decided to wait for a different one. I had a normie male just start dancing along with me XD It was great. The final time a business man entered the elevator and asked to take a video of me to show his wife XD I said yes of course and he was happy about it. Thats now my thing at every con, even if we ain't on the tip floor, I make my way up and repeat the process. Its always interesting.

    Once, I convinced my 2 cousins to cosplay with me when we went to see Moana. 1 outfit was Ariel with the cheapest wig ever that I found at a goodwill, another was Moana, and I was Merida. We got to the theater, got our tickets, and accidentally headed down the wrong hallway lined with about 50 college students sitting against the walls (the theater was near a college, I'm guessing they were waiting for a boring college credit movie to start idek). It was the most awkward yet funny situation I've ever experienced😂

    I was at a con one time and ended up staying an extra day at the con (was planning on going home saturday, ended up going sunday) and my mom was bringing me my kageyama (Haikyuu) cosplay but of course due to the time, I had to do my makeup before so I literally go down an elevator alone in full cosplay makeup minus half an eyebrow, a wig cap and all of that and it just so happened that no other person in the levator was in cosplay (normal people mixed with those bringing their bags to their cars due to check out times) and it was probably one of the most anxious I've ever been (I put the wig on before I went back up so it wasnt as awkward and no one said aything but it feels like everyone and their grandparets are staring at you)

And he said "my best friend died before he could finish reading homestuck." And he just stood there. I didn't know how to reply, eventually he walked away as I was standing there in confusion. 😂 Another time when I was Trickster! Omg I relate so much to this! I always feel so embarrassed to be in cosplay outside of conventions grounds (especially since I commute to conventions instead of getting a hotel near by). What I do is not wear my wigs and hide it in my bag then put them on once I'm there. I also tend to cosplay characters with normalish clothing so I don't have to be stared at as much. But ONE DAY I will build up enough courage to wear cosplay in public and not care what others think.

    one of my first cosplays ever was Jinx from League of Legends, about 3 years ago. For some reason we thought it would be a good idea to go to the arcade, during a Saturday to do a little photoshoot....noob mistake!!!
    In the parking lot, walking from my car, this middle aged guy with his family turns to me and is like...WHY ARE YOU DRESSED LIKE A HOBO? and he kept harassing me until his wife, super embarrassed, told him to come alone. He did this in front of his kids. Role model of the year. My self-confidence takes a hit every time I think about this. Major anxiety vibes T_T

    Binge re-watching all your storytime videos rn while I work on cosplay and the uncomfortable “stuck in cosplay in a group of normies” thing reminded me of something that happened to me last con lmao. I realized the first day that I forgot to pack makeup wipes (RIP, idk how I managed that since it’s literally like the most important thing lol), but there was a mall right across from the convention center with an old navy, so my friends and I went to grab lunch and some wipes from there. Obviously nobody else was in cosplay in that particular because store bc.. IT’S OLD NAVY. I’m cosplaying Felix (re:zero) in MASSIVE heels so I’m like 6’ tall w cat ears and a tail lmao, and my friend is Mina (bnha) so she’s BRIGHT pink all over. The store is full of middle aged moms with their families and EXTREMELY normal teenage girls, and a few little kids. We got so many full on stares and people just outwardly pointing at us and whispering, but a few of the little kids really shyly came up (they were watching us most of the time from behind clothes displays lmao it was cute) and said that we looked pretty and they liked our outfits, and asked for a picture later while we were in line to check out, so that totally melted our hearts lol. Probably weirded out a few families with the “why is he wearing a dress and cat ears/tail” etc. etc., but we made some kids happy so it was super cute ^^

    I cosplay a lot for Brony conventions and ive gotten fairly good at it. So ive become confident around Bronies and other nerds at cons like that doesn't phase me at all like "who cares" right? Well i Throw on a maybe B+ cosplay for Phoenix Comic Con and i was feeling great people who knew the character were like "hell yeah, that guy" and its great. Then i ran into someone i knew from outside my nerd life. And i just stop dead in my tracks as they notice me. i get very "uhhhhh yeah uhhhh sure...." like trying to play it off but on the inside im screaming im suddenly very self-conscious about everything im wearing. I start thinking like "stop looking at me" and "oh god why am i wearing this" along with thinking of everything that could of been better on the cosplay, inside my head this is like the 7th level of hell. While on the outside its just a normal average conversation. The person i knew, who was a teacher at my improv theater loved the outfit and though i looked great. but still inside just a storm of nerves.

    Every local (Vancouver) con, I usually end up taking the sky train in full cosplay garb because I am old, don't care about weird looks anymore, and hate carrying shit aroun. Anyways almost EVERY SINGLE TIME I get asked..."are you dressed up as Sailor Moon"?...and I am sometimes even not remotely looking like any kind of magical girl! All in all though, its usually asked in pure innocent curiosity and the fact they even recognize it as anime is cool. There has been a few rude type "haha Sailor Moon..." but usually people are pretty cool and just curios! So I guess that is my running cosplay in the regular public story.

    I wasn't uncomfortable with the situation, but my mom was. A few years ago, me and my mom went to Tidewater Comic-Con. I was cosplaying Barris Offee from Star Wars the Clone Wars and my mom wasn't cosplaying at all. After the con, we went to the store, I think it was Wal-Mart, and EVERYONE was staring at me. My mom was EXTREMELY unvomfortable with the situation, but I was just so proud of my costume that I had worked super hard on to care that I was painted green and walking threw the grocery store.

There were these two boys my age playing basketball while I was filming and they were curious enough to edge close enough to my fence that I could here one whisper to the other: "Why is she wearing a blindfold?" And the other respond: "Probably some sort of weird fetish. Don't stare." That was a pretty embarrassing moment.

Hit an elevator with folks in Atlanta for a football game who were SUPER weirded out. I was the last one on, so I just faced into the elevator car (in my full face concealing helmet), stared silently and never said a word. When we hit the lobby, I stepped out backwards and no one else got out. Afterwards I almost hurt myself from laughing.

    My local con is a very short drive from my home so I never get a hotel room and thus get dressed in my cosplay at home. My dad was going to drop me and my friend off so we were standing outside the car waiting for him to get the back seats open and a guy was walking past us down the street. He sneaks a few glances so I keep my eyes on him. As he walks past us he begins to turn the corner of the street, giving him a slightly more subtle angle to stare, I just KNOW he's about to turn his head so I make a nasty 'gotcha' smirk and sure enough, he turns his head, we make eye contact, and immediately his eyes are filled with shock and embarrassment and he very quickly turns away and doesn't try again.
    Felt good.
    What I learned is in these situations if you approach or confront them in literally any way, they feel ugly shame and it diffuses the situation quickly.

    My most awkward cosplay experience was when an adolescent me dressed in a VERY last minute Corpse Bride cosplay in the middle of a brightly lit target. It wasn't even Halloween yet.
    When I was 15 or so I decided to do a very impromptu Corpse Bride cosplay for a halloween party. I threw it together using halloween decor curtains, a bed sheet, my crinoline hoop skirt, bobby pins and a prayer. Then I did full the body paint (somehow managed to succeed using the cheap stuff from a generic Halloween store, to this day I still can't believe that worked since I now forever swear by mehron). I used layers of painted toilet paper to create the rotting skin effect and added an opal butterfly necklace as a little easter egg. To really bring it together, I added a ring on my finger and a plastic halloween decoration bouquet in my hands, spiders and all.
    My mom had to stop by Target before dropping me off at the party, and god know's why but I decided to go in with her. People looked like they didn't know whether to laugh or to just stare. I had many regrets, but decided I would just own it. So now there's a picture of me out there somewhere, casually smiling in the middle of the fluorescent aisles of Target, wearing a cosplay I'd just thrown together an hour before.
    And then it turned out I was by _far_ the most dressed up person at the party. I legitimately looked and felt like Cady Heron!

    I was at my first convention EVER when I had an awkward elevator incounter. So I'm in Halifax, at my first con as I said, and I'm wearing a cosplay of my Ravenclaw OC with a LOT of bird related face paint (unrelated but wanted to mention that part). So I press the lobby button and suddenly this girl in a blue uniform comes running to the elevator and trying to shut the door. A guy in a similar uniform comes running in shortly afterwards and gets in jjst before the doors close. They start talking with the guy saying "This won't happen when I'm fuerer" and I'm like "Oh, you guys are from FMA". Well I've never actually seen the show but I know characters because my friend is OBSESSED. Well this makes them notice me and smile widely and start talking to me about the show. I'm there just frozen because I have no idea what they're talking about and just sort of nodded and gave simple answers as best I could. I quickly left once the elevator stopped and went to find my con friends. I was so scared those two were gonna call me out for knowing NOTHING about what they were saying and I was too nervous to be like "Oh, I haven't watched the show. I just know some characters."

    TL;DR I had to take an elevator up 10 floors in a bodysuit that I had to hold together to stay clothed and it was not a solo elevator ride.
    So several years ago I cosplayed as Maytag from Flipside. If you don't know who that is I wouldn't be surprised but basic all you need to know is her outfit consists of a skin tight black and white body suite and a traditional jester's hat, complete with bells. I had never made a bodysuit before. I had never worked with stretch fabric before, and I did not test ware this costume... So I'm at the con (anime expo in LA if anyone wants to know) and I'm having a good time when all of the sudden I feel my bodysuit get louse. The seam beside my bust had popped and is rather quickly opening further. Not knowing what to do I just grab the seam and start holding it together. I was alone at the time and had no bag with me just my badge and room key and maybe my ID, so I do the only thing I can think to do and thats go back to my room and change. So I have to go to the shuttle stop, wait for the bus and take the 5 minute ride back to my hotel. All while awkwardly holding the side of my chest. That's not so bad because at least the shuttle is only for con goers and that at least expect to see cosplayers. I can feel the seam coming open further more I move around so I am trying to hurry but also trying to be as stiff as possible, only adding to how awkward I look running around holding my top together. The ordeal isn't so bad, until I get to the hotel and get into the elevator. AX is a really big con so all the hotels are full of cosplayers so I didn't even give a thought to the fact that the elevator I eventually get into will have only a couple in about their 50s and no one else in it. So there I stand in this elevator with these people who to their credit are not whispering but even without looking at them I can tell they are trying VERY hard not to laugh. It felt like an eternity before we got to the 10th floor and I bolted for my hotel room. As the doors close behind me I can hear them louse it in the elevator. You would think that this experience would have tough me to test ware my cosplays before wearing them to a con but no... I am still this foolish.

    I remember my very first cosplay. I did Aradia Megido. My friend did Lara Croft and the other one made themselves some wings but didn't wear them that often that day. We drove to the Convention by train and across me sat an older guy around his fiftys. And he obviously thought I looked weird but I actually didn't care that much. Then he took out his mobile and took a Foto of me and he didn't even try to hide it. He was bending to his left so he could have a better shot. It was really awkward but I just posed on my seat and the dude acted afterwards like nothing happened. But the most funny thing was: My friend with the wings said:"I feel like everyone is staring at me."
    And I said:" I have the weird feeling they don't stare at you."

    Once I cosplayed as Maka from Soul Eater, and I needed to get on the elevator with my mom ( Note:she was not cosplaying with me) there was a woman with her two children, they were probably 5-6 years old. Well I don't think the mom was comfortable with me holding a giant Death Scythe so she was shielding her children from me the whole elevator ride ( which was floor 15-1, which felt like eternity), but oh it was super uncomfortable.

    One time my ex and I were going to a Con right after Pokemon GO came out, like just a week or two after, and we were cosplaying Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps. During a photoshoot a block or two away from the Con, this person (non-cosplayer) walks by, points as he's walking, and just loudly proclaims "YO, POKEMON! NIIICE!!". We just * facepalmed * after he walked away.

    I have this oc cosplay character that I cosplayed a bunch of times and I always have this two colors wig, pink and sky blue, circle lenses and freckles made with like nail stickers these little cutesy things that you can put on your nails. I had on a school uniform top and then leggings since it was too cold to be in tights when I left my house and basically me and my friend (who weren't in cosplay) had to get on a bus before taking the train (which becomes like a con train, almost everyone on it is going there so half of the people is in cosplay) but yeah anyway I was the only one in cosplay on the bus and the whole bus was basically trying to figure ou why I was "wierd" looking it was the most emberassing bus ride ever.

    I had a similar situation happen to me lol. I used to live on the top floor of a large apt complex, and I always drove myself to cons. It was super awkward taking the elevator down in full cosplay lol. You should have seen the looks I got xD

    I was walking to the train station with a friend and a lady drove by, literally turning her head to stare at me (I was dressed as Leia, with the green poncho) with the biggest "Wtf" look on her face. I got stares from people on the train too, but that lady looked terrified haha.

    I don’t cosplay yet but I plan to at the end of next month.
    I feel your pain though I hate being in awkward situations, but I’m am used to it because my life is awkward.
    I love your videos and hope to see more

    It was the first night of Planet Comic Con '17 and my very first con. I dressed up as Dead Shot from Suicide Squad (Will Smith's character). My friend went as Harley Quinn, also from the movie. It was after hours so we walked up and down Kansas City's Power & Lights district looking for dinner. We had a lot of gawkers looking at us and while waiting to be seated, a few people even approached us out of curiosity. A couple asked for selfies. Others asked if they could check out my eye piece. In the end, even though this was something out of the norm for everyone, I treated those enounters like it was just another Friday night for me. I knew I couldn't appear uncomfortable or unconfident otherwise I wouldn't own the encounter.

    I wore my Kakashi 1.0 to a Halloween party and was the only one in a costume. It was slapped together, my first cosplay, and you could tell I was all passion and no skill. It gave me my first experience wearing the costume, and it was worth it here I am googling cosplayers to learn techniques for this halloween.
    Kakashi 2.0 has no bad stories
    Took Kakashi 3.0 to a Halloween at work and it got stares, but the few stoked fans that seemed to pop out of nowhere made it worth it. It was a version made of a sweatshirts and sweatpants so after I dropped the facecloth to breathe, I could work comfy for 10 hours.
    I wore a shirt to a protest, out of markers for the message and such. I'm usually a solid colors t shirt guy, so I was expecting debates left and right riding these buses to the state building. It got me out of my comfort zone, I was happy to try something new. Different scenario, but the experience was so cool there was no awkwardness coming home. Worth it.
    I will not be doing Kakashi 4.0 this Halloween, unless it's for a friend. This time I'm subbing a lot of cosplay channels, and thinking of making a shop in my apartment. All thanks to facing a fear a long time ago

    I was once going to a con with my friend, his step daughter, and my uncle's step daughter, me (cosplaying Misa from Death Note) and my uncle's step daughter (cosplaying Kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul) were waiting for my friend outside a train station near the con, this random guy walks past and asks how we got out of his bedroom and when we didn't laugh came back to tell us he was only joking, this guy was clearly around mid 40s and I was 21 and she was 13... that's my most awkward cosplay encounter

    I think I was at Anime Evolution once, but I wasn't cosplaying. I just wanted to see what it would be like to go to one of those conventions. I found it a bit boring, but then I was there by myself and I don't think I brought a camera (or may have been too shy to ask if anyone would let me take a picture of them). There were quite a few interesting cosplays that I saw, and I was a bit surprised to see one guy cosplaying as a female character, so maybe I should go to Anime Revolution sometime and bring a camera. I have a lot of respect for men who cosplay as female characters.
