The bottom bracket on mine started to make noises on my second ride. I tried to use the crank removal tool that I have in my bike too set but I don't the correct one and strip threaded the crank. I'm just taking it to my LBS and have them take it out so I can put the IXF crankset on it. Now I know why these bikes are sold at these price points. Thanks for the vid.
Mine started to make horrible grinding sounds while a wss riding out the other day. Im glad you have this videos out. It is helping me out alot. Thank you!
Thanks man, you video was informative and good tutorial. I'm new in the bicycle world, most of my experience comes from motorcycles, recently purchased a schwinn bicycle and the bearings on the bottom case are toasted. So your video was great. Thanks.
I used an IXF crankset with a 122mm spindle, the Schwinn Axum one is 127mm. The short spindle with a spacer on the drive side only allowed the left crank 1/2 way on. Even without the spacer the threads on the M19 bolt, on the left side, did not reach the spindle threads, it was 2mm better but not ideal. I made the setup work, but it isn't right.
Mine sadly the bearing just got destroyed they where the stock ones from factory by any chance do you know the specs of the hearing like how many balls it has and the size of it
@@MTBAlex I used a large screw driver and hammered it between the crank and the BB. Popped off on the 3rd whack of the hammer. Same thing happened to me a year ago and I used a standard two arm wheel puller to finish the job. I was at my son's house and didn't have my wheel puller so I went with the screw driver.
These are the ones I bought on ebay. Just remember, these are not the ones I ended up installing on the Axum. I just posted a vid of me doing the same to my Al Comp with ixf cranks. Didn't strip any arms but I did strip the drive side of my sons hotrock20 cranks. Had to grind a slit in the arm to get it off.
good upgrade, I am upgrading my Walmart Axum to a whole new sram gx eagle drive train. hope I don't strip my bottom bracket like that. Man that was interesting.
Sounds like you’ve been running the Racewlorks and the original BB you bought on different bikes. Which one do you prefer? How are they holding up? Thx for all the great content and discussion!
I actually bought 3 of these sets. 2 were used on 2 different bikes, 1 is still new and I sold the black axum, that set is put away for now. The one that has been used the most, is on my blue axum, probably the one in this video. Almost 2 years, zero issues. I'll buy them again in a heartbeat

Ok, I just have some questions: 1) About the crank set you bought from AliExpress, is it 170mm 3 degrees 32 T or 6 degrees 32T? 2) At 5:14, the socket you used is a 16 notches or 24 notches or whatever? 3) Did you add one space on the gear (right) side, correct? Thanks.

We've all been there fighting with a stock BB. Good work!
Thanks, yeah, this one was a biaaa
Weirdly, it was that freaking crank arm. Bottom bracket was not tight at all
Unsealed square taper bottom brackets suck even more than cartridge square tapers bb's.
This is giving me second thoughts about working on mine.
Lol, most of the time they come out super easy. If you are in the Houston area, bring it to me

Nice work getting the BB off. We've all been there! Hahaha. My Axum stock BB came off by hand, it was kinda hilarious.

I got more coming up.
Bro, sabes cuáles son las diferencias de axum y la axum dp además del dropper
My tool stripped out on me too and I pre lubed the square taper before trying to extract the right crank.
Happens, on mine, it did not strip, what did strip was the crank's treads
