The funeral director up home that I hung out with as a teenager got a call one night. A young man had run his corvette up under the rear end of a semi. Even the state trooper threw up. They had to jack the trailer up to get him out. Once back at the funeral home the parents asked was there anyway to view him. Small town. My friend got the local beautician out of bed and she helped him go through discarded hair. He had been through a course like this one in Chicago. He worked hours non stop. With reconstruction and placement as well as lighting the parents got their viewing. You morticians and directors are unsung heroes
This may be a dumb question, but what if the skull was cracked but the person still had hair? My friend was hit by a train a couple weeks ago and she had an open casket funeral. I’m just so fascinated in the work morticians do now because I was shocked at how good she looked. I couldn’t tell if it was her real hair or a wig though, so I’m curious how/if you work around it
Hi Kari! Thank you for another fascinating video! So interesting! I think I'll have trouble drilling into skulls cos I'll be terrified of causing pain. You've also got me motivated to play with my clay too, so thank you!
I have serious respect and admiration for Morticians with what they have to do and the skill involved, along with how emotional it must be sometimes especially with how someone may look coming into your care. Kari, you guys are great.
I had to hand make calvarium clamps for my model skeleton "Romeo" who loves to pop the top of his skull off 💀 since you can't buy this stuff unless you're in the industry.
Very interesting video Kari, just to see how everything is tested so that it can also be more prepared for it to all come together in restoration! So what do you do with a body if you cannot restore it's skull but is do for a wake or viewing?
Love these videos, learn such a lot,the clip I have never seen before. Breaking the skulls wasn't easy, taking a piece out must have been challenging! ... Roll on Part 3 ...
I'm really surprised that a uv resin or polymer isn't used to fill in the parts of the head and face Sounds morbid but some people don't have a face left with such tragic accidents

Thank you for sharing this
Hi Keri. Smashing skulls of some people has crossed my mind. Lol. I'll restrain though seeing it has to be put back together. 😃
:) lol
...and u may well end up in jail. I know, it has crossed my mind, too.😉
It appeared as if most of the students were women. Was that correct?
Yes about 90%
Wow so much involved.
There really is!
Very informative, thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks!
Many props to all of you. I never realized how much work goes into restoration.
THank you
🌄🌄🌄 Great and Informative..Thanks for Sharing(😊😊😊)
Thanks for watching!
I enjoy your videos
Thank you!

suture together or you could use a wig
A very fascinating video!!!!!
Thank you!
I am so fascinated with everything that has to do with this type of stuff. Do you have to go to college to get a job at a funeral home?
No there are many positions within a funeral home
Thanks Kari at this point will they let the family in to see the restoration
Will they use a wig for the hair. For viewing.
They can see the final result
Thank you for another educational video Kari!.🙂
You are so welcome!
I’m surprised they are not using molymer/polymer adhesives to reconstruct these.
There are many tools but not every funeral home has access or can afford them
I knew this was going to be good! Wow! I always wondered about that. I'd like to see some model heads they've worked on.
Awesome thanks!
Thanks for what these people will doing for our loved ones. Very fascinating.
Thank you
This is really cool! Tedious but cool. Have you had to reconstruct a skull Kari?
NOt to this extent
Seems to me that having small hands to do this would be an advantage. Wish I was 40 years younger, I would go to school to do this kind of work.
Yes I think large hands can be a bit of a challenge with the small pieces
Just put a wig on it.
You can but still need the shape

Cover the head with a blanket and show the hands to the family
Good stuff....interesting😄
Glad you enjoyed it
Winks, hugs, cheek kisses
:)
Fascinating!!
Thanks!

Glad you like them!
If a murder victim comes from the medical examiner’s office is it harder or easier to do reconstruction work? Brain intact or out what’s easier ?
Nice 😺
Thanks
And that was the easy part of the skull.....
Duck tape
:)
You have to love jig saw puzzles😉
that music .... LOL!
Yes!
Why not use modeling glue (Krazy glue)
Oh stop it.
It wont hold tight enough
Really? I thought it would hold.

You can use some in certain situations
Very interesting 🧐
Very!
