I enjoy your videos. I am currently doing my apprenticeship in OK. My history in death-care has been kind of like stepping stones. I started at the funeral home doing removals and helping at funerals. Then I became the office manager. From there I became a licensed apprentice.
Don't forget. Apprenticeships are unpaid. And some of the industry sadly chews up and spits out apprentices each year, as a new batch of "free labor" graduates to fill the spots. Thus, you getting hired by your meritor is very unlikely.
Why is it most trades pay their apprentices a living wage? Nobody wants to touch a dead body, let alone be in the same room with one. Look at what an apprentice plumber or electrician or roofer make compared to an apprentice mortician. Unionize! I'd like to see the schools and funeral homes empty for just one year while students hold off on entering until real wages are paid. The entire industry needs an overhaul. Unionize!
@@KaritheMortician You should be frank and open with what the pay rate an apprentice has to put up with. You know it's true. Some places don't pay anything at all. The entire business needs to be unionized and apprentices need to be paid a living wage, just like any other trade apprenticeship enjoys.
Hi, I live in Ks currently fresh out of high school, I was wondering if you’d be able to give me some guidance on how you started off with wanting to work in this field, I’m very curious and committed i know this comment is like 2 years old but I would really appreciate it if you’d give me some feedback, Thanks!!
I apologize that this comment isn't about the video but I need a little help. I'm planning my funeral and I know Michigan isn't very pro green funerals. Well I own a plot in Wyoming MI the cemetery next to my father. I'm totally getting the run around. The funeral home can do the quick family say goodbye. I know legally I need a vault? But I just want a shroud. No one wants give me a straight answer. Help??
Do you like to travel? If so, then you wouldn't want to become a mortician. Most places don't pay enough to do that every year. Especially apprenticeships.
Off topic but I'd love to go shopping in your closet lol❤😍❤ EVERYTHING you wear is so cute!!

Working for a less than living wage for a year and then told they can't give you a raise after your apprenticeship. That's what it is.

Very interesting. Wish I did this instead of an MA degree

@@TheKittengoddess It's too late and I'm in massive debt.

Sister Kari, can you send me admission requirements for apprenticeship program for international students
Can you get licensed as a funeral director strictly through apprenticeship, or do you need to go through a mortuary science school program?
You are truly beautiful, inside and out! love and enjoy your content, thank you! from New York;))
I have and read the same Mayer Embalming book. Thanks for sharing.
