    My 9 yr. old had cancer at 15 months. It was removed surgically. She eventually ended up with a seizure disorder and none of the medications stopped them. I heard of the keto diet for control of seizures and it worked. I didn't know it stopped cancer. Perhaps that is why her cancer never returned. Praise GOD.

    I been dolng keto since January 1st this year ...I went from 235 to 158... size size 22 to size 12-14... It's the easiest diet to be on ...research the diet....helps dementia and ..it work...

      @@sheepseven7588 I've made this my way of eating now...and I found this bc I was researching dementia and this diet popped up..I researched it..and just decided to try...the hardest thing was giving up sugar but if you make it thru that you can take it all the way to your goal...if u call it a diet than at some point you think your done once you reached your goal or give up if you don't reach your goal... I yoyo dieted all my life... I've chosen to make this my life style...do I cheat once in a blue moon..bc once your in ketosis for a while if you eat a small piece of cake isn't going to kick you out of ketosis...once your in fat burning you don't switch back to carb burning unless you fall completely off the wagon.. what I eat in a day? Now I have one meal a day...with healthy fats...meat with two veggies...butter.. fruit once in a while... They all turn to sugar in the body and what you don't use gets stored in fat cells..there r a lot of good recipes on you tube...my excercise is swimming now...

    so why do Children's Hospitals serve Froot Loops and sugared cereals and Hot Dogs to their cancer patients? This never made sense to me when our 6 year old got cancer. They just wanted the kids to get calories in their bodies but had zero advice for nutritional solutions. They let the kids choose anything they wanted from the menu---so frustrating. Our son lasted 16 months. Someone please share this with Children's Hospitals.

So true -- it's heartbreaking to watch hospitals serve cancer patients (and others who would benefit from a good nutritional protocol) horrible foods and badly combined, at that (i.e. starchy carbs + meat + milk and an overcooked vegetable were given to my friend every night while she lay dying from a botched gall bladder operation that left her with 2 colostomy bags attached to her). American medicine knows NOTHING about the healing power of the right foods in the right combinations.

      electrogeek77 That's the point. To allow your body to heal itself. You have to give it nutrients in order for repair to happen. That's just the way it works. Drugs can be useful in some situations but the body did not develop to work with drugs, it developed to work with food.

      I'm sure she doesn't mean stop the meds cold turkey. However, changing your diet and adding in some supplements will probably allow you to cut out or cut way down on your meds. Supplements won't kill you if you use them correctly. Meds could and most shouldn't be given for life.

    Nice video on the ketogenic diet. The only thing that was missed was letting people know that it takes around 3 weeks to get the full benefits of a ketogenic diet and within those 3 weeks people may feel lethargic or tired until their brains can switch to using ketones as a fuel. Once your brain has adapted its almost like having an unlimited supply of energy for your brain to use without the ups and downs in brain function like when it used glucose for energy.

When you stop eating carbs you starve Diseases BUT your liver carbohydrate generator takes a wile to kick in that produces the proper carbohydrate and that proper carbohydrate is what fuels your emmune system with the power that turns your ummune systen into a natural interferon emmune system that easily deals with ALL diseases, Thats the final puzzel piece of a bigger picture but it appears they spraying chems over all of us now to combat this awakening on the human fear farm !

      That's not true. It varies with different people, but usually it takes 2 to 4 days to get into ketosis. If you are careful to get your electrolytes, you can avoid much of the "keto flu".
      I found it worked better for me to be a bit more gentle going low carb. I cut my carbs back by 50 gm per day, until i was down to 50 a day. Then I cut back over the next 2 days until I hit 20 grams per day. That's when it kicks in for me, and my body adapts very easily that way.
      Within a day of going below 20 grams per day, my brain thinks much more clearly.

    I am currently 28. 2 months ago I was diagnosed with colon cancer. 3 weeks ago I had my tumor removed. I have decided to try the keto diet. Mind you I was 131kg when diagnosed and I lost 16 kilos in a month to lose weight for my surgery. I have stage 3b colon cancer. At this point I have completely changed my habits and never felt better. I am about to start chemo in 2 weeks and during that time I will be on the keto diet.

    Of course! The way humans have been eating for thousands of years can actually be good for you! Paleo eating and ketogenic diets are the way to go; it's not even hard to quit sugar once your body is getting all of the natural fats that it craves.

    You state a major error at 3:25. The Ketogenic Diet is NOT high in protein. Only fat & fiber.

    First of all, the brain can also use ketones. Second, your body can make glucose for the brain, as needed. There is absolutely no need to ingest carbohydrates. They are not an essential macronutrient..

    People are not suppose to eat every day. In nature we spend days, weeks going with out. because food was scarce.we had to forage if we wanted to eat. I cured myself from lung problems associated with "gerd". my stomach acid would come up and get in my lungs. so l had a chronic cough that eventually debilitated ME to the point l got whooping cough which l call "choking cough" . Had a long road to recovery. Interestingly my kids nanny never got sick and she was in close proximity to us. Contagious viruses are not that contagious if your healthy to begin with and my youngest, my 2 year old got well alott quicker than me. Never thought I"d agree with pat on anything.

    The body has regulatory mechanisms for maintaining blood glucose levels. Just because you are cutting carbs doesn't mean your body becomes absent of glucose. Gluconeogenesis converts protein and fat into glucose in the liver, cortex of kidney and intestine. This type of diet just limits glucose spikes and increases insulin sensitivity while also using ketones as a source of energy.

    You get carbohydrates from non starchy vegetables. low carb is about controlling insulin release. Cavemen did not have refined sugar!

      People in India rarely get cancer. They eat natural and simple food, lots of veggies, and tubiferous vegetables (sweet potato, casava etc). Also little meat as they are so poor.

    the best thing to do with the low glucose diet is try and get as much vit c you possibly can. at least 4-20 grams. abnormal cells have something like 25-30 times more glucose receptors and vit c enters the cell through glucose receptors. which with all that extra vit c into the cell changes into hydrogen peroxide, which kills the abnormal cells because healthy cells further process the hydrogen peroxide. abnormal cells don't have the enzymes to do so."bio energy c" is best i've found

    surprisingly good article for main stream media, probably because the lady presenter actually practice's the ketogenic diet, believes in its health benefits and knows exactly what she is talking about. Need to keep sodium intake high (>5g/day) and those steaks were way too big as protein only should be taken in moderation (

    80-85% of fat..otherwise its not ketogenic...the sore joints is not from the ketogenic diet...may be it was the high quantity of protein....I am on fat and no sore joints...nor muscular tiredness

    My mom has colorectal cancer stage 4 and i see her suffering every day becouse of not the cancer but side effects of chemo i do not know what to do any more for her i am too tired

    The problem with fat and high fat foods is that regardless of where it comes from fat still has more than 2x the amount of calories. (1g of fat = 9kcals. 1g of carb or protein = 4kcal) That being said, olive oil, coconut oil, and butter are more or less all fat providing a ton of calories in a small quantity with few if any vitamins, minerals, and fiber which is important in satiety. Therefore, a great amount of will power to maintain a caloric deficit is required.

    "extreme increases" ...but is that on a diet with carb or not?
    As the theory goes cancer cells need carbs to fuel growth. If so, cut the cancer fuel and it it can't grow no matter what protein you eat.
    Secondly out carb intake is hundred times the quantity we would have eaten pre-agrarian. Some fruits and the occational root fruits..not like now with bread, pasta, rice, candy, juice, fruit, prepared meals with sugar, deserts,..
    LCHF seems more natural for us.

    This video is over 4 years old, and yet there is no sign that this is being taught to medical professionals. I am a healthcare professional, and constantly fighting with the world how beneficial this is. We have been so brainwashed with the so-called healthy food pyramid (aka food plate), and as a result we feel that eating this way is counterintuitive. I have had a number of health problems for years eating the so-called "healthy" diet. It wasn't until I went clean keto (high fat, low carb, moderate protein, no processed foods, no dairy) that ALL my problems disappeared. My immune system is killer-no pun intended. While everyone around me is hacking, sniffling, and completely run down for several weeks form a common cold virus, my immune system killed the sucker in 6 days! People need to WAKE UP!!!!

    It's the opposite , almost all cancer shows an acidic blood Ph which is what Ketosis is protein without carbs .

    Dr. Atkins wasn't the first, he didn't start it. Yet it was Allen Keys and his 7 country study that made us turn away from Fat to a high carb diet. Before that it was the recommendation to eat a high fat low carb diet to lose weight. Learn a lot more about that by reading a book by Gary Taubes.

    If the brain almost entirely uses glucose to produce its ATP, how is it that the brain is not starved of glucose during the ketogenic diet, yet the cancer cells are?

      Cancerous cells use only glucose for oxidative phosphorylation IE ATP production...they can not use fat for ATP production since the DNA of cancerous cells are mutated ones

      I understand that. I've been taught that the brain will only use glucose as a respiratory substrate. If that is so, why is the brain not starved of glucose whilst the cancer cells are?
      I'm only a first year uni student so maybe there's more to come and what I've been taught so far is not quite the case?

      I've always been tought nervous tissue can only use glucose as a respiratory substrate?
      So the ketogenic diet means that glucose can't be produced fast enough for rapidly replicating cancer cells, but to ordinary tissues it doesn't really make a significant difference to normal function?

      +Steve Pickering Do you experience dry mouth a lot? If so they have lozenges and sprays and all kinds of things for it. Product names are ACT and Biotene. Both work well for me. My meds dry my mouth out no matter how much water I drink. ONE brand coconut water is a little strange tasting but I have gotten to love the refreshing feeling in my mouth when I drink some. It rehydrated you better, too. Watch the sugar tho. It has 8 grams per 8 ozs. I want to drink more of it in a day but keep it to one cup 8 ozs. a day. Altoids peppermint are strong but effective for breath, too. Also, go to Indian food store and get a little bag of dried green cardimom seeds. Inside are the seeds and you can chew those or just keep a few in your mouth for a while.No sugar that way.Keep them in you pocketMy husband does this. You can peel it open and take out a few ad pop into your mouth. If it gets to strong after biting on them a while just spit them out but it works.My husband has a ketoacidosis Breath

    Saying fat is bad because it has more calories is like saying the air at sea level is worse that the air on mountain tops because it has more oxygen but the truth is that you just don't need as much of either to live a healthy life. As far as fat having no vitamins or minerals, how do you get fat soluble vitamins without fat? Lastly, why would anyone want to go on a caloric deficit diet when it has been shown over and over that they don't work and are unhealthy?

      Eat a tablespoon of Coconut Oil each day.....That's how I prevent it.
      In addition, make sure you get enough salt in your diet.
      You need about 2 grams every day. I drink 2 cups of chicken broth every day

    You do realize that because one person died allegedly doing this diet means this diet is solely responsible? You know how crazy that sounds? If I had a heart attack on a vegan diet should I blame veganism? There are many different forms of a low carb diet.
    There have been numerous studies since 2003 which show the health benefits of a low carb diet. I kindly suggest you read some.

    People are commenting here about 'protein' but the true Ketogenic diet as advocated by Domenic D'Agostino (who is on the cutting edge of this science) in this CBN video has a lot of fat in it and only a small amount of protein. He says in another interview that the research showed that small amounts of protein were more sustaining and healing. This would tally with paleolithic man's diet from eons ago.. it would be a natural way of eating as they had to score a 'hunting success' to eat meat. See how more and more world class athletes are switching to this diet for more strength and endurance. It is early days for me, but I am feeling much stronger now eating this way and I have had a badly compromised immune system for 34 + years. I tried so many diets including a raw food one - this seems best for me and many others too according to the growing evidence on the net and RUclips! Out with the old in with the new (or is it historically 'old' too?) :))))

    The thing I can't grab on to is they say the ketogenic diet is the way we ate from the beginning. My Bible states we were vegetarian in the garden of Eden. We only got the okay to eat meat after the flood.
    I have been on a ketogenic diet since January 9 with no weight loss and not completely convinced yet.
