Buckin' I made a career change at 40 years old. I just started setting chokers 2 weeks ago. Quit my job in construction. I feel healthier mentally and physically. Although my feet hurt. 🤣
This guy’s is a national treasure. I can’t explain how much I looked up to Canada as a kid and how disgusted I am with Canada now but no matter what, ya’ll have Buckin Billy Ray and that’s more than enough for any nation. Honest to goodness this guy should be on the loony or whatever
Loved it. Lookin fit there young feller. Working with a dude born in 1946 who is earning cash to rebuild after his home was flooded in 2020. Goes harder than a lotta young blokes. Hands on him like riggers gloves. His routine is down pat.
Hey Mr bucken. its 5.30 am in Tasmania driving to work. I can't get over how much information you've put into my head. I trive off it. I have my own bush block. So your words are so valuable to me. My dad was a faller. But he doesn't tell the story like you. Thankyou so much. Keep them coming mate. I'll be watching. Cheers from Tassie
Buckin , thanks for the video and commentary. I have 4 trees to take down next week and you have given me the extra confidence I need to do this job. Thank you!
Buckin you’ve inspired me to take real pride in my work. I’m just a ground guy right now at the local tree service here. I get to cut and trim trees a little here and there but I don’t run saws as much as I’d like to. I’m eagerly learning as much as I can every day about every aspect of this work and I hope someday I’m a full fledged tree man. Love your message and love the work. Thank you sir.

I appreciate the fact that you explain your thought process and don't rush past the critical 'little' details. This type of information would only get past along if we were working alongside you or had years and years of experience working this craft. Thank your willingness to slow down and share with all!
With that much hollow rot it was amazing that tall tree was still standing! Interesting the power of a wedge. Liking the extra commentary there. Great vid & the harmonica playing. Haha reluctant wife shot but lets you do your thing. She tones you down ☺️, Bet she sometimes tells you to put your damn phone away😂
That reminds me of those 2 maples about 3ft diameter that was leaning towards the house that someone decided to place about 20 ft away. You really helped me out with that back a few years ago. Honestly friends learning more about being safe with the trees saved me alot of trouble. Thanks
Great vid (for learning), as usual, never stop including all "the commentary", as you say, it's both entertaining, but more importantly it IS educational, especially for the newbies who may have started watching the channel, oh, say, 30-40 videos ago (even though you've done 3.000+ vids, Respect!!!). They're ALL relevant, but one can never stop learning, including yerself (deliberate Canadian spelling there my friend, haha), and so we amateurs continue to watch and learn along with 'ya! "Learning opportunities", not to mention your call-to-All to "Be Kind", that's why we keep watching! Love Yer Stuff! Always learn something every time I watch, thank you for all your hard work and keep spreading the word!
Been following you for about a year now and I do enjoy your program. I’ve learned many new things about chainsaws and cutting or felling trees to cutting firewood and maintaining chains bars saws etc. But I also review others listen to others and come to my own opinions etc. I still find you really do know your stuff and are truthful. . Your belief in life and how you treat others is Also to be commended. What goes around comes around, keep up what you do Thanks
Call me a sponge because im absorbing all the info. My dad's hobby was drinking not teaching so I've had to have many good mentors/substitutes through the years. Buckin you are at the top of that list! Not just for showing how to hanging axes, running a power saw or climbing trees. Its about living life positively, living and loving life where you are at right now but also appreciate the path you are on. A wise man once said, why do you ask for more possessions when you don't appreciate what you have right now. Being thankful for now and what you have now opens doors in the future. I always felt our house/property was not the forever house. I wanted more acreage so i could build a pond, always wanted one. Instead we sold high and landed a few miles away into a bigger house, more acreage and a lake filled with fish. Hold onto your dreams and stay positive and thankful!!! Brian in Oregon Happy Independence Day!
Wow, to think of what could happen if you approached that tree like any other and didn’t know it was full of rot. Thanks for the lesson in observation!
Fantastic video! I'm about to have a couple of trees taken down close to my house so I'm even more interested to see whats going on. I always assumed there is some crazy things involved in bringing down trees. Thank you so much for this video!

Howdy mr.bucken, that saw needs a little more white on it but at least there is some, you look better in stihl no offense cuz I know you guys are husky boys up there !!!Lol, and yes every detail counts in the moment for sure.big or small, and yes you are crazy because sane people do not cut trees, just the way it is!! Sure wish I had one of my saw sound like you guys!! Happy 4th to you and yours even though you are up there in beautiful Canada!!!! Great lesson as always, love it!!! Kind regaurds!!!!! Sierra John!!!!
We know you're nuts BBR 😃 but it's a fun nuts and I'm beginning to get it , you have a goldmine of info on falling stuff that's problematic too close to something and rotten. Nice shot with the problem one. take care !
This is what freaks me out a bit with this line of work. There's so many specific procedures and safety precautions that must be taken with each tree, and it usually varies between individual trees. One mistake in the procedure and you can get killed fast. And people get killed often doing this work.
Making a mistake isn't even necessary. Sometimes it's just not your lucky day, I can attest to that. It's wise to try to minimize mistakes, question your decisions before you act and reflect upon it after the fact.
I have learned from RUclips videos that you always look up. My rule is when setting a wedge is after 3 hits I look up and watch the tree before I hit the wedge again.
Would love to work for you and learn! It would be a dream your knowledge is so vast and just awesome! Thank you please tell me where I can go to learn the knowledge and techniques you use. Luis
Some excellent Excellent opportunities to learn some stuff here!! Buckin, i seen you with a couple different wedges on this channel, some you didnt care for as much as the others. What would you recomend someone to get for a set? Bout how much do they run? They would make my life littoraly a million times better! Thanks for all the wedging tips!!!
11:30 I can't believe he hit it right where he said he would - again.... He even had a roll counterclockwise to the left spin, it took down some branches with it like he said, he was tweaking it after it started moving he zips it some to direct it finer then even grabs his wedge and saw while he's getting the crown shot, then it spins off left and takes a bounce on the cross down log pops to the right and springs 50 ft of the trunk in air LOL, suspended perfect for lopping off rounds. HAHAHA Crazy A+ and extra credit a free hall pass and season tickets to the games.
