Gig economy is just another way for companies to avoid responsibility and not paying benefits (pensions, taxes and health insurrance). Luckily they are clamping down on this in the EU. Claiming that young people want this is utter bullshit. They have no choice and end up getting scewed over when its time to buying houses or go into pensions. Although gig workers have the lucrative option of working for multiple companies and donning different roles, this is a path that requires you to tread through rough waters. I work as a contractual creative content professional in broadcast media and my journey has been a mix of triumphs and failures. Yes, Gig workers are more anxious about the finances because they don't want blank months(gaps) to be reflected in their work history but your worth is calculated on the last project you undertook. Growth and Flexibility is dependent on the companies you work with - a company might offer you stable income without you being a part of the organisation for a considerable period or you might take different roles to increase your intake during a specified period. India still has to go miles for gig workers. A traditional job is valued much more than gigs. Marriage, Finances, Loans - all favour traditional jobs.

The presenter has only shown the gig business as an appeasement to corporates. Under the hood the entire economy is an ecosystem of illegal and sham worker abusive contracts.
Atleast someone talks in senses
This is true only till the gig worker does NOT buy an automated lead generation system.
my favorite, Palki ji always happy to listen your programs. very informative and knowledgeable. thank u😊
Stop simping. ...
@@pam7791 i searched its meaning, though every one desire it not necessarily we need to apply them always.
If anyone wishes to use gig work for the long haul then they should do their homework on what they have to offer to companies. Then set an end time (e.g., like six months or one year timeframes) in the event there is not enough work.
Part time gigs help
Finally after 22 years someone has reported on my work/lifestyle. Been at it since 1998 and dont know what the inside of an office looks like.
I love this report WION put together. Great to see the stats and excited for the future. Great job WION !

In 1998 I quit Defence and have been doing project based freelance works. It has been beyond awesome all along.
Thanks to this video now I know I have been a gig all along ,😀
This concept has been there for a long time with Mariners.
Mariners work on a ship and take a break after that. They make their availability known and rejoin accordingly.
I am working from home since 2016, it is not that easy, I have my freedom and feel really free but this type of job only for disciplined people, it is not for everyone. At last I love my job even when I work sometimes 14-16 hours in day, other times 6-8 hours.
Why not hire someone when you have too much work?
WION without Palki is not WION. She is a legendary anchor. She is very insightful in her researched current world stories. Proud of you Palki Sharma ❤️.
Yes! GIG-ing is a gamble! But, working life long for companies in "11x mode and getting only 1x in return" is very dis-respectful. GIGs must develop their own products to sell and get good returns. Working life long for companies as employee - is like life-long slavery.
Right topic. Timely topic. Thank you Palki
Very innovative of you to select a novel topic for the presentation. Isn’t it almost same as WFH? In UK, some big employers require the GIG workers to set up a one man company, before giving a contract.
UK is a mind control state. Get out fast.
Working as a freelancer for more than 6 years in Fiverr. Yes I can say their has less stability in work flow but I have freedom. I do work anytime from anywhere. That`s an advantage.
I’m Gen X I’ve done gig work the last 3 years, I never want to go back to traditional 9-5. I am happy with the flexibility, work the jobs I want and have a vacation day anytime I want.
The biggest problem is the lack of commitment from gig workers (most of the time).
Recipe for happiness: Regular job + side gig. at least until gig picks up. And you’d better do something web-based: minimum oversight, maximum customer outreach.
9 to 5 is good... But it is becoming 9am-10pm at home.
freedom of choosing shift time is basically becoming health hazard.
Filipino here ya'll! A lot of gigs in the Philippines pay super low, from truck drivers, motorcycle/ taxi drivers, entertainers, and a lot more. If you are a Filipino who wishes for a stable income, employment benefits, medical care, and savings, I advise you to look for the right kind of job and strive to become a regular worker in that job cuz it is more worth it for Filipino lifestyle and can provide you more benefits in the future. Only work for gigs if you are ready enough to face the cons and have enough resources, skills, talents, and experiences to win over your competitors in the market.
Thank you for Educating us on this employment sector
I'm a dishwasher at a busy restaurant, I work remotely at whatever schedule I desire
I'll believe in the Gig economy when WiON allows Palki to work from home.
This was well presented in terms of pros vs cons. I like Palki's presentation.

people around the world are yet to discover WION trust me. I value it so much that i'm so tempted to huddle it from friends. WION is taking over!
So happy to have quit my 9-5 working for toxic bosses for 13+ years. Quit in 2020 which was the biggest risk but today I feel it was totally worth it. Today, I don't need a boss who would promise me a raise that wud never happen.
Hi darling
Wow, Sonie you look absolutely stunning, adorable, and radiant, your saree color combinations it's so elegant and a touch of class Sonie.
You know what you are the first to present the GIG Economy risk analysis so insightful.
Yes, I'm on the same page with you .....With Cloud computing, millennials prefer to work remotely / at home ..this reduces the amount of nitrogen dioxide, which is the main pollutant generated by traffic emissions, by around 10%. The other part of the future is that we are moving to a hybrid world, office downsizings are coming, and the glut of office space continues to grow.
Thanks for Sharing your thoughts Sonie. You are the reason most of us are listing to the news again. I"m positive Gravitas news network will achieve the highest ratings.
Take care Sonie may God keep you safe and bless you and your loved ones with never-ending happiness
I just entered in the field of freelancing and content creation on RUclips after quitting my regular job and taking risks... I don't where and how this goes... But I like to take risks and make my life journey full of adventures.
Yes. A "job" has the stigma of "building someone else's dreams" instead of your own...which is true without performance compensation in the way of profit sharing and bonuses. A gig worker seldom feels "owned". Gigs provide space and time to continue building YOUR dreams!!

It is surprising how many humans do not feel they have the divine right to experience an abundant life. This is so sad, when you consider that true abundance isn't something bought, or given, it is something that is shared. Till at last we rise forever in the arms of perfect love.
Becoming Rich is taking the bold step, being financially educated and realizing now that stock, bond, and share's remains currently the most lucrative business in the world both NFT,

Being successful don't happen by magic, success depend on the action or step you take to achieve it,show me a man who doesn't have investment and I'll tell you how soon he I'll go broke , investment is like building a safe heaven for the future .with the right choice of investment that has at least 1% minimum risk, and with the guidance of an expert, profit and interest should be 90% guarantee.
I agree with you 💯%.... I had a Senior colleague at work who was doing well but never had an investment, unfortunately he lost his job and went from leaving a comfortable life to hardship.there would have been something to fallback on if he had an investment,

There are still so many hidden things which should be highlighted . I don’t know why people watch others channels whereas everything we can get good knowledge here.
The reason i like what she bring.
Blood batteries
The looting of Africa
And the one on sleep are good clips by Palki. Like the channel.
true, there is no retirement work or medical benefits. But its also suitable for retiree who still have an income & are able to work
Gig economy is just another way for companies to avoid responsibility and not paying benefits (pensions, taxes and health insurrance). Luckily they are clamping down on this in the EU. Claiming that young people want this is utter bullshit. They have no choice and end up getting scewed over when its time to buying houses or go into pensions.
Edit: Let’s also not forget that in some countries you will not get unemployment benefits unless you have additional insurance.
Government breaks your legs and offer you crutches.
Any job which requires certain amount off time period or has set a target is not gig and will companies pay for pensions, health insurances off freelancers..lol
Wion not only provide information but also empowers personally thanks to palki mam🙏. She inspires me a lot.

The worst thing about 9-5 is that the monotonosity sucks the life out of you.
Excellent Video. I have been a freelancer since one year and as per my experience freelancing has more pros than cons. It's all about delivering high-quality service and finding high-paying clients. Believe me, my clients from USA are the best as they value my work by offering me extra money in the form of a tip. Americans Rock!
What job do u do as a freelancer?
@@hindimusichits4500 Hello. I am a market researcher. Thanks!
Freelancing is not a joke, its a complete set of skill including marketing, business handling ,the actual skill required to complete the task and what not, some days u will be earning lakhs and someday month will pass by without any client, so essentially zero ,the uncertainity is what the major issue here, trust me I am telling from my personal experience..
It (uncertainty) can be mitigated drastically by buying yourself an automated lead generation system.
i am not a freelancer but i work as a remote fullstack devloper and i can say one thing this job really give me control over my life
Gig worker a modern term, but such temp work has existed for many years as contract work or temp work. I have contracted for many years and wouldn't change it for any permanent job, it's great to know the so called gig working is thriving, however here in the UK in 2020 the IR35 legislation was passed by the government and has pretty much killed the entire freelance / contractor sector. Freelance / contract workers suffering, companies suffering because they can't get the talent on temp basis, it's a complete shambles and the UK government is always right and knows what's best of course!! You can look into this and reconfirm your stats.
Palki the best news anchor in the world, keep up the good work.

I've been freelancing for almost 10yrs. I have control over my hours and life+ I make what people make working full time. There is stress but it's all in my control. You have to be very good at what you do and you will not be short for work. That's the key- keep upskilling and be great at what you do. Freelancing is amazing!
What kinda freelancing do u do
Just a naïve kid here…what kind of education do we need to start off?
@@sharmisthachakraborty4319 I'm an HR consultant and facilitator
@@cassia2707 what do you enjoy doing coz in today's world you can freelance anything. I'm an HR consultant I've tied up with vendors who do my biz dev work. If you are good at technology you can become a tech trainer if you are good tons of money in that. Organizations will line up for you. Remember the key is do what it enjoy, upskill always and have a growth plan in place. I have all the benefits of the corporate world without the unnecessary stress. Yes, things like health benefits and dental plan I have my own. That's a small inconvenience compared to the freedom and the money I make. I make more than most full timers. All the best👍💯

Anaesthetists were on my mind during this video. Perfectly fits their work. 😊
I have been doing gigs works for the past 20 years. Welcome to my world my friends 👍.
