yes, but that caribou is much loved, and even has a name Clarence. The charter captain told me on the way out that if someone was to kill a caribou there he'd kill them! Brings him a lot of business. So, we played it safe and only shot three..kidding
Great vid Jim. Planning to head here this summer for caribou, though sadly the population was decimated by wolves and is now estimated to be at 15 animals. Fingers crossed. If nothing else the lakers and maybe salmon should make it worthwhile.
Fantastic: You've brought to me a place in my province that is beautiful. but which I know nothing about. Beautiful video about a place I want to know more. Thanks Brian nearing 76
No problem Brian, sorry I didn't reply sooner. Slate Islands are awesome. Great Lake Trout fishing and my brother even caught a salmon. Plus crystal clear water, caribou, and epic scenery....and you're camping on an ancient meteor impact site. hard to beat, though the whole Superior north shore is exceptional.
That’s actually on the mainland in Terrace Bay, it’s called Aguasabon Falls. If you go to the Slates, you’ll see this before traveling over to the island
Looks like some easy hunting!

Backcountry Angling Ontario that sucks, we did see wolf skat there so maybe they were just starting to take hold.
