I don’t think lineage has anything to do with this. First and foremost Kamala Harris is a non-white woman born in the 60s. She certainly knows what it is like to grow up in that era as a woman. If you say she is not a descendant of slaves and hence not qualified to secure black votes then who is? Do you want Rev. Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton? If you can disqualify candidates you should be able to suggest ones that are qualified as well. And if you concerned about slavery know that Latin America was the main destination of millions of africans in the Atlantic slave trade. A president leads the whole nation not a particular group of people. So we should be thankful that we have a candidate who admits that policing and the prison system among other issues are problems in the minority communities.

Police shouldn’t be issued weapons until they have 5 years on the job. It should be mandatory for police to visit 3 businesses & 1 home or vise-versa on a daily basis & meet the business owners/managers & residents that live in the areas where they patrol. Cops should only be allowed to pull 1 weapon out during a traffic stop or call involving 1 person. Cops that murder unarmed ppl should be suspended without pay & ALL cameras should be turned over “immediately” to the DA’s office. All payouts should be made by police unions, not tax payers.

Her record as a prosecutor aside (which is definitely questionable in places), I think she makes a lot of sense here. None of the candidates are without skeletons in their closets somewhere. I don't expect anybody to be on target with everything all the time. It seems that she has evolved to some extent, which I think is a good thing.

While I like to hearing different viewpoints, I have to call out hypocrisy of her words. She talks about typical Democrat talking points but don't mention real solutions to police corruption/misconduct, black poverty and criminal justice reform. I'm not even done with my PhD and I have realistic solutions for almost ever issue (some more bold than others) so why can't she be 100 and talk about it? Charla asked about Obama and his inability to get criminal justice reform done, she had no real answer for it except gun reform (how is that a solution at any point?). Look at her record in Cali, she let Steve Mnuchin go despite being given evidence showing that he should be investigated vigorously. She has never truly pushed criminal justice reform unless somebody pressured her into it and she only backs illegal immigration despite the fact that she never really proposes solutions to fix the issue. She's half black (that's what she is) and that's great but she shouldn't be a presidential candidate because this is exactly the same thing that the Democrats did before. Throwing Hilary out there like she was this grand champion of black issues when she was as bad as Harris. I'm sorry but the Democrats don't have any solutions for anything that ails the black community as a whole, just the same rhetoric and threats to impeach Trump despite not doing it. The first woman president shouldn't be her, the best person would likely be Elizabeth Warren or somebody like that but no to Hilary and Kamala. If you think I'm wrong, read this.
