Parents don’t have the information they need to make sound decisions when it comes to special education. Many of them just go along with whatever the teacher/school says. Many of them do have a child’s best interest at heart, but sometimes decisions are made out of convenience or whatever other reason that might not be best for the child. Public schools in general are not equipped to handle a lot of the kids that go through this process (we educate everyone, even the nonverbal children in diapers, etc.). There’s a whole rabbit hole with that, but a lot of what he says is true. This is a good reminder to get intentional about improving our community.
