Not even going lie this movie is very underrated... What movie should i do next? #BINGERS
DRINK WATER
#Bingers Haunted Mansion, A Haunted House, Disney Descendants: The Royal Wedding, Cruella
goosebumps on Netflix. The freddy fazbear movie. Mario movie. Megan the princess and the frog (if you haven't already )
#Bingers a haunted house, not another teen movie, dance flick
Ron gone wrong is a Disney plus movie
It came out before Coco. It's what I used to explain death to my little human.
Just to clarify some things:
- The Book of Life came first than Coco. It was released in 2014, which is why people are saying that Coco copied them.
- Maria gave the guitar to Manolo, not to Joaquin.
- Manolo was the one who gave the pig to Maria.
- Manolo and Joaquin are best friends. They were only competing for Maria's hand.
I just know he’s going love this movie ❤ I can already hear the
“That’s so gangsta” 😂😂😂
I think Billy fell harder for Manolo than Maria did 🤣
Fr fr.
The Book of Life and Coco are really amazing films and great takes on The Day of the Dead!
Agreed
im so so SO GLAD you reacted to this!! i feel like this is so underrated! and no this one came before COCO
My kids were obsessed with this movie. My daughter convinced her kindergarten teacher to show it at school.
33:30 Billy your remake was beautiful! I've heard you sing phrases in a few of your videos and you're a pretty decent singer! Definitely can carry a tune and hit notes!
Finally a classic getting the recognition it so rightfully deserves
I love reading! My top 3 favorites are:
1. Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
2. Red Rising by Pierce Brown
3. Radical by David Platt
The soundtrack was slept on because it's a jukebox musical (a musical that takes already existing songs, which isn't bad but it does usually lead to the soundtrack not really being associated with the musical as much as if the soundtrack was made for the musical), and people associate this movie too much with Coco. Book of Life came out first, but a lot of people say they're "copying" even though the only similarity between them is that it's about the Mexican culture's afterlife. There's a bit of ignorance going on in that debate, seeing as how a lot of people arguing about how one is copying the other have also been insinuating that there can only be one Dia De Los Muertos movie. Which, for anybody not catching one, is like saying there can only be one christmas movie or halloween movie.
this movie was one of my favorite childhood movies 💕 it meant so much to my family because my mom is mexican
the gasp got me dead at 38:37
I feel like this was pretty underrated; loved this movie & felt this movie walked so Coco could run. 😂
Yay, I've always loved this film and found it so underrated. So glad you reacted to it! 🥰
So many people have been reacting to this lately. Glad it's finally getting the recognition it deserves.
Yes, it was in theaters. I painted my brother's and my face in calavera make-up (like the skulls or La Muerte), to watch it, there. My favorite song is a tie between the two original ones, "I Love You, Too Much," and "The Apology Song."
I have been waiting for you to watch this movie. It’s one of the most underrated movies ever to me
Literally so glad ur review this movies, one of my favs
The Book Of Life was made first Billy and this movie and CoCo give me chills when I watch certain scenes so much passion
Makes sense Noone would talk about this soundtrack since I think it only has a handful of original songs and noone seems to like talking about jukebox musicals for some reason.
I dont think many answered your question, but I read for fun! I just recently got back into reading more and have read around 35 books this year 👀 My favorites are The Book Thief, The Starless Sea, and the Murderbot Diaries. I highly suggest murderbot, its mainly short stories/novellas so theyre all quick reads
I have greatly admired The Book of Life for quite some time and so when the made CoCo I knew I was going to love it too.
My guy, the songs they used were already hit songs when they chose them for the movie. Disney writes original songs for their films. Love this movie though.
20:27-20:30 i love the grandma 😂😂
I use to watch this movie ALLLLLLLLLLLL the time when I was a teenager. I especially loved the music in this movie. So much so I had my favorite song, The Apology Song, on my favorites playlist lol 😂 and best believe I would sing it with my heart 🤭
I haven’t read much lately but my favorite book is JRR Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. The films are worth a reaction.
A lot of the songs in this are popular songs, so it’s like a jukebox musical Creep by Radiohead. I will wait for you by Mumford & Sons. I can’t help falling in love with you by Elvis. et cetera et cetera
The ring light was included in the animation!!! So cute.
ur rlly wholesome, im def gonna subscribe!
southside by Lloyd is a one of my favorite songs
MONTIGO IS ALIVE! 😂😂 this is my husbands favorite cartoon movie.
...Sometimes I'm almost certain that Billy is a big headed girl. "Catch me!!" 😂😂😂
he said you're finna get me pregnant I started laughing so hard
Commenting for the algorithm! That song is actually called creep by Radiohead and it’s a weird but great song!
#Bingers Kubo And The Two Strings. Another underrated classic
I love this movie, but the creep scene is unintentionally hilarious
I adore this movie. It came out before Coco and I love both of them. There is so much Mexican culture to explore ❤
OMGAAAAAA YOU JUST READ MY MIND, I WAS GONNA TELL YOU TO DO THIS MOVIE COMENTARY, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT, I hope that you enjoy it, is one of my favourite.
Also I love your content, you are really really funny, thanks for all the laughter that you bring.
#BINGERS And I would love seeing you watching the saga of star wars.
Greetings from Mexico. ❤
My favorite book is probably the blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan
The last song was written by youtubers UsTheDuo for their wedding vows and gave the movie rights to use it
You should watch the sea monster it's so good and it's one of my favorite movies
#bingers Yoo Billy, you should watch Dance Flick and Oliver and Company
I remember seeing this movie in cinemas and it was a core childhood memory!!! You best believe I got the dvd when it came out and it's been a comfort movie since. Coco is cool, but this movie walked so coco could run.
When I watch your videos I always have a water bottle with me like right now
i remember watching this move for the first time it's really good yet no one ever talks about it.
I’ve just realised it’s always a bell “killing” someone in these kind of films like coco
One of my favorites!❤ love this movie and so glad your watching it.
Not him asking if “ La muerte” means mom 😂 people who know, know 😂😂😂😂😂
I enjoy this movie more than coco, it's just more fun for me (and less emotionally taxing), I also like the character stylization, really reminds me of media like the show "El Tigre".
Thank you for the reaction! Hope this comment helps with the algorithm gods
Southside is a bop! wasn't my generation, but i can thank my parents for my taste in music 😉🔥
"He's so...pretty." -Random Kid, 2014
8:56 bro that was my shit 😂❤❤
I never knew about this movie 😍 I am definitely watching it😍 Thank you Billy for putting me on🥰
17:02-17:10 same 😂😂
#BINGERS I think you will really like the movie 'Nimona' it's honestly super funny and can have you very emotional.
You should watch the boy with the ticking heart and most of the book fo life soundtrack is covers prob Why its slept on
My favorite book is The Fear Zone
Man this is my first time watching it too never seen it
You should watch bride wars!
Southside Lloyd and Ashanti
I read books for fun, my fave. is sherlock holmes
AHHHH I MADE THAT HAPPEN ❤️❤️❤️
Okay Billy, I got you!
Billy: "He's already dead, is he gonna kill him again?"
Answer: It's the final death like in Coco.
Did y'all know Billy did a movie commentary to that!? Go over and check it out after you watch this!
And smash that Like Button so Billy can get all the algorithm love!
As a Mexican, we don't shy away from death, we celebrate it, we welcome it, and while we miss those that we lose, we hope that we can join them in our own time. People who've seen a Mexican funeral can tell you that it's nothing like a "regular" funeral, there's music, dancing, food, and everything that we use to celebrate them moving on to a better place! These are my thoughts about it though, since everyone mourns in different ways.
It's a party in which the special guest is the one who left too soon or the one we wish had been there another day...
Because they expect us to live happily with or without him, to not let it stop us and to move forward 🎉
Well said! My mom has food and music I know she wants at her funeral to celebrate when it's her time. And it IS sad, but we celebrate the time we had together
yesss I'm not Mexican but i could tell this from watching this movie and Coco!
I would so agree with you.❤❤
Same for Caribbean funerals
Fun Fact: The scene with the candle lit path was actually inspired by a true event. It was how Jorge R. Gutierrez (the director) proposed to his wife, he even sang (alongside with a band) "Can't Help Falling in Love with You." And on the Day of the Dead no less. And there both their family and friends were there to witness it.
awww❤
Stop that's so sweet😭
Oh my god that’s so sweet and beautiful😭❤️
If I don't get proposed to like this I don't want it
Honestly a good comfort movie especially considering the people who made it were apparently responsible for one of my favorite childhood shows as well according to what I recently heard
Which show?
El Tigre I believe?
@@nattycat14 yep I just confirmed it as well, what a great show
Check out maya and the three as well, such an amazing show.
And there’s a cute little book of life reference too.
"Always play from the heart" Those were words directed to Manolo not Joaquin. Also, Maria gave Manolo the guitar (to replace the one she in a way broke) and Manolo gave her Chewy, her pet pig. As a way to remind her of home and that there will always be someone wanting for her when she gets back. Maria's only words to Joaquin was to "Always fight for what is right."
“Stop talking to me like that you gonna get me pregnant” 😂😂
He’s a mess! 😂😭😂
F$&@ YEAH! This movie deserves so much love and appreciation. This is the best Guillermo Del Toro work ever- hands down. I will die on that hill just like the way Manolo did.
I love how the trio stayed together and still love for eachother regardless of what happened between them.
Jorge R Gutierrz, Del Toro produced the film.
@@GeekZone210 Yeah, so it’s considered part of Del Toro’s portfolio cause he worked on the movie.
Didn’t say it’s the best Del Toro movie, just one of his best works. There’s a difference.
The guitar was always meant for him. Maria gave it to him cause he was always a Singer
One of my favorite movies ever!💯 I love this movie with all my heart. I definitely think this movie is severely underrated and most definitely better than coco in my opinion😌
Both are great movies but Coco is much deeper on the theme of
" El Día de los muertos" .
The book of life is much more commercial and with creative freedom.
Channing Tatum voiced Joaquin, Zoe Saldana voiced Maria, and Diego Luna voiced Manolo. Also, Xibalba is voiced by Ron Pearlman best known for voicing Slade (from the Good Teen Titans), The Lich (Adventure Time) and playing Hellboy.
The book of life was made a long time before Coco. Also that wasn't really a class. It was 'the detention kids'.
Book of life came out 3 years before Coco
Such a slept on movie! The art style for it is so gorgeous, and the soundtrack is exceptional. 💜
Also, you were so close to remembering their names for the whole movie 😂
I'm really happy that you saw this movie. And it's just so underrated that I just gotta say that the Book of Life is way better than Coco in my opinion cause of the love, loss, and remembrance. It's just so beautiful! my favorite song in this movie is The Apology Song where Manolo was apologizing to the bull for his family's misdeeds against them it just felt so touching.
After years, Billy finally got around to this movie. You guys can't imagine how happy i am😂🎉. Also Billy's reaction to La Muerte taking Xibalba back is killing me😂😂
This is one of my fav animations to ever watch! I hope you enjoyed it✨
Fun fact: The song Manolo was singing about being a creep and a weirdo is actually the cover of a song by Radiohead.
LET'S. GOO!!
The Book of Life is absolutely one of my favorite movies, probably in my top 5. I truly, truly adore it and it is so wonderfully told and sweet. I will always advocate for this movie, it is too good.
I love how Billy really sat there the entire time thinking the guitar was for Joaquin. LOLL
Just shows how little people pay attention alot of the time
Oh no, this has NOTHING to do with Disney. This movie is by the incredible artist and director Jorge R. Gutierrez.
They used to be together? Oh no. They're still married. XD
I read books for fun. My current read is the Redwall series by Brian Jacques.
So glad you enjoyed this great movie!! =D
The amazing thing to me about this show is that every song is a cover to songs that already exist EXCEPT for two. Those being Manolo's love ballad to Maria and his apology to the bull, which are two of the three biggest character shifts in the movie. (The third being Joaquin's sacrifice for Manolo)
I understand people's comparisons to Coco and Book of Life because they're both Day of the Dead movies that were released in close proximity to each other, but they're no more similar than the thousands of Christmas movies that there are. I'd love for there to be more Day of the Dead movies, and other movies relating to holidays of all different cultures. I think the success of both Book of Life and Coco proves that good films can be made out of them. (And I'd love to have more options than the billion Christmas films there are. I wanna see more Hannukah and Kwanza representation. Give me Chinese New Year, give me Yom Kippur, give me more Day of the Dead! The media is really sleeping on some amazing stories.)
The toro song is just about the best song on this earth imo
This came way before Coco but both are very beautiful in their own way.
Death isn't always something to be feared but celebrated. As a Dominican we celebrated the day of the dead on November 2nd we make those favorite food and music and lit candles for them. Remember my younger siblings having this movie I liked it a lot
Aye Billy getting rizzed up is hilarious. I don't blame him though. The songs in here are heart moving
Can you watch Soul, Train to Busan, and Rio pleaseee?
Find your channel a couple of days and I'm watching all the videos, loving your reactions!❤
#BINGERS
YES I NEED RO SEE HIS REACTION TO TRAIN TO BUSAN OMG
And im dyyyyyyying to see what he thinks of Soul 🥺
Billy is so funny, because why he fangirl and say he'd jump off the balcony into his arms...he's so real.
35:38 Manolo took, "And i'd do it again" to a WHOLE new level
Something fun that I want to add is that the guy that plays Manolo (Diego Luna) also plays Zats, prince of bats in "Maya and the Three."
Another connection is Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias who plays one of the mariachi and Picchu in "Maya and the Three"
The guitar is actually meant for manolo, and manolo gave maria the pig :) since I noticed you accidently mixed the male leads in these areas :)
Maaaann Billy got more cologne than a Macy's perfume department 😂
oh i absolutely love this movie!! the entire voice cast did such a good job and even though there's songs here that aren't original, i feel like they still mostly fit. Manolo's apology song to the bull is gorgeous in English but it's even more amazing in Spanish. to address your question about if it was supposed to be a different version of Coco: there was rumors, especially around when Coco was first announced, that this movie was pitched to Disney, but they rejected it and then started working on their own day of the dead movie (which turned out to be Coco). idk how true any of that is, but that's what i remember reading years ago
Holy crap i can't believe he finally watched! 🌠
I've been waiting since I saw that Rukiya reacted to it! 🌹
Nice! 🌠😎👍🎉
Also there was only five because it was the detention class 🕯
Maria is not just a chickenhead she's a girlboss. Girl can sing , dance , knows kung fu and independent thats why i love her❤
Reminds me of the type of woman who thinks doing something nice for their SO is the equivalent of slavery 💀.
My favorite book is “long live the pumpkin queen “
This movie is amazing! We watch this often. Its such a feel good movie. Also loved watching how shocked you were at the end with the guide transforming.
Another underrated movie is Vivo the music and songs were written by Lin-Manuel Miranda (the same guy who wrote the songs for Encanto) and he also voice acts and sings/raps in it too it is such a great movie and the soundtrack is FIRE so if you could consider watching it that would be great.
#BINGERS
I saw this movie 5x when it was in theaters! Also, some people didn't see "Coco (2017)" because they thought they were ripping off "The Book of Life (2014)." I myself included, however then we learned that that was not the case.
Fun fact: the end song (the one Manolo and Maria singing) are the actual wedding vows of the songwriters, Us the Duo. They wrote it for their own wedding and preformed it At their wedding
