If the bricklayer runs out of block or mortar they just stop working and yell " I need mud or I need block " . Then the big boss gets pissed at us for not working fast enough to keep them supplied . It's really tough when you are 3 or 4 scaffolds high . It did make a man out of me .

There was a show in the 80s where 7-8 yr old kids asked how different careers worked (butcher, doctor, pilot, etc). I remember the brick laying episode... they picked it up in 3 minutes... could of got a job straight after. Probably did.
