Exactly. I know GOT has a LOT of history and material but you can only focus on it for so long with nothing new coming from it. It's nice to put partial focus on something else. ESPECIALLY The Witcher.
"I know you're almost forty, look almost thirty, think you're just over twenty and act as though you're barely ten." -Sigismund Dijkstra, talking to Jaskier/Dandelion.
That's a difficult thing to pull off. You can't really use 2 different actors. The only real thing they could do is makeup but the actor is pretty young so he would probably have to wear it for the rest of the show. I also wonder if they should have used 2 different actresses for Ciri. She's about 10 the first time she and Geralt meet in Brokilon. Big shame they left out that story
Elves can be old but as with Witchers, few get that old. I would wager Geralt is older than most elves he meets. An exception might be Cedric from Witcher 2 that tells Geralt that he is "old even for an elf".
Most elves Geralt meets are usualy Scoia'tael, who usualy are pretty young for elves, 20 to 40-45. The only ones i can count as old, over 90-1000(?), are Iorveth, Cedric and Filavandrel aén Fidháil. Witchers can reach about 500 (i'm guessing) years before they kick the bucket, tho most die before that. The only exeptions from what i know are Geralt, who's about 100 in the Witcher 3, Vesemir, who's over 300, Eskel, who's about the same age as Geralt, and Gaetan, who's about 200. i want you to know that i'm only counting elves that Geralt meet and interact with, cuz if i counted every "old" elf, we whould be here for a while, tho here are a few: Francesca Findabair, who's about 300, Isengrim Faoiltiarna, who i'm guessing is about 120, and Ida Emean aep Sivney, who is probobly a few years younger than Francesca. And no, i'm not counting in any Aen Elle, mainly becaus that the Aen Seidhe have a bigger precense in both the books and the games.
@@adrianjohansson8937 He can't be 100 years old, CDP messed the time line. He is 50 in the books and first game is 5 years after the books when second game is immediately after the first one and the 3rd is 6 months after the 2nd game.
Basically they are fantasy Spartans (dunno if you ever played halo). Taken as a young child due to the law of surprises mostly (like ciri was) and brought to a witcher fortress/school. There they are trained ruthlessly and eventually given a chemical/magical drugs to mutate them into witches with cat eyes, better reflexes and speed. Most die during it. The sigils represent the different schools, geralts school had the wolf sigil. Another school in the books has a cat (cant recall the others in the books). The games expanded it a bit more adding more schools that I domt think are mentioned in the books like bear and viper. Books also tied the animal to that schools fighting style (like bear school focused on strength, cat on speed, viper on potions and poisons, but I dont think any of that is stated in the books)
@@Niall487 There are 3 schools in the book: School of the Wolf: the literal steriotype of witchers. School of the Gryphin: a group of witchers who specialies in magic and it's teachings. School of the Cat: a group of witchers who's been hunted and lost so many members that most of them have becomed hired murderers, the other 2 schools looks down on them as failures. Then theres the schools in the game, like the shool of the manticore, the shool of the viper and the school of the bear, who mainly exist for filler to the lore.
Just started playing Witcher 3. Pretty sure Vassimir comments that Geralt is over a century when Geralt teases Vassimir about his age at the beginning of the game.
about Geralts age, that is my take: In 1245 when Geralt was with Lytta Neyd in Season of Storms Geralt is after his falling up with Yennefer, which happend after Geralt lived with Yen for a year i Vengerberg so we can estimate that Geralt and Yen met at the latest in year 1244. Triss was Yens best friend at the time and Yen quoted her a funny saying about naked men. From Blood of elves we know that Triss did not tried men in her years in Aretuza, so she had to be after school and plus few years to get to know naked men and get friends with Yenna. So mabe she was minimum 22 years old. So let say Triss is borne around 1222. And Triss said that fall of Kaer Morhen happen half a century before her birthday, mayby she was over reacting and it was i (do not know) around 45 years earlier. So the least year 1177. And Geralt was made in Kaer Morhen befor it destruction had full set of mutations and even got some additional experience made on him, so mages had to be in fortress at the time. So lets sey he he left Kaer Morhen in age of 18. And Fortress fall wright away. (So 1159) (What with Lambert then? He should be younger than Geralt) That makes Geralt at least, minimum 109 years old when action of Witcher 2007 takes place. And how old is papa Vesemir? Gods know. Older. Much older. Triss is thinking that he can be older that Kaer Morhen itself.
Yeah. Even though Geralt doesn't talk about his own age, Vesemir clearly states "You're nearly a century old yourself" when Geralt comments about Vesemir being an elder at this point.
Here is an interesting fact. The overall premise of the Witcher universe is that several centuries later when Geralt and Ciri's saga has been immortalised into folklore and legend, two historians are trying to uncover the truth of what happened and how it happened. One of them is called Nimue more popularly known in the Witcher universe as The Lady of the Lake, and her assistant Tilly's ancestor(also called Tilly, the dreamer who got trapped in a dream by the godling) has been teased in the Witcher 3. While its unclear if Geralt actually survives all the way to the Witcher games timeline, it is teased that Geralt was alive several centuries later, as Nimue was once saved by an unknown white haired witcher
Commenting before watching the whole video, to guess before your reveal. From what I remember in one of the books, when geralt was talking to ciri about some elvish ruins they came across, geralt talked about it as though it remembered the city when it was still inhabited. I think he's at least 200 years old, probably older.
Somewhere in the witcher three wild hunt one of the other witches mentions something about Gerald being close to a century old but I can't remember when exactly I thing it was on the hunt for that spinal fluid
I don’t think they will do the games, because CD projekt red have the story down pact, the characters like Gerald and yen both get amnesia after their stint with the wild hunt and they will have to introduce the lodge as well as triss’ betrayal of Geralt also there is to many different outcomes in the Witcher 2 and 3
