Almost 3 years ago I got a leftover VFR 800 and got Competition Werkes to prototype their exhaust using my bike, I did it for the same reasons as you ....sound ,looks and also weight savings. What an upgrade ! They build the best stuff and now I am waiting for an unmolested 2013 to be delivered but I already ordered the GP exhaust and fender minimizer. The looks and the sound of their stuff is top notch and worth the cost.
I just purchased a lovely stock 2013 VFR with only about 25k kms on the clock and goodness, what a bike!!! I have just fitted a BMC air filter and I am now thinking about an exhaust.
I wanted (and still do) a VFR1200 but I couldn't find one in my price range. I love that V-4 sound and feel (I had a 1997 honda magna). I ended up getting a 09 concours 14 the past weekend. To bad Honda doesn't make the VFR1200 anymore.
Questions for you. Did you have to buy the servo eliminator kit? Or did you not have to. I have heard that gas mileage becomes quite low if you run the bike with the exhaust and no servo. How hard was it to connect if you did buy a servo eliminator?
I did not buy and install the servo eliminator kit. When I did the exhaust it went along with the major service that included valve timing etc.. Power Commander V went on as well. As expected I got more HP out of it (sorry don't remember) and for me most importantly throttle response was then dead on. That bike drank gas before the install and the same amount after the install. Definitively, I noticed no change +/- in fuel economy.
That was one of the main reasons I went with that exhaust, to let that side of the bike breathe, visually. In terms of the saddle bags, I can't speak to that unfortunately bc I never had them with or on the bike.
@jasonfararooei5722 I will have to check with the salesman in a shop over here in Sweden that has a used -12 for sale if the saddlebags will fit with any aftermarket exhaust. The only thing that is missing from this bike, is the sound of any other V4 bike like the Tuono or even the VFR800F, those bikes sounds amazing. I have heard this bike with a full system without catalytic converters on it and it still sounds kinda boring. Def not one of the sexier motorcycle sounds which is a shame since it is a nice engine configuration which in other bikes sounds great. Other than the sound this bike rides amazing, good acceleration, great top speed and it actually turns! Even though she is heavy for a sport bike it is one of those amazing feelings where the manufacturer really hid it's weight in a magical way =) The used 2012 one at the dealer is in black color and I do not know if its default from factory or if previous owner changed it but it has really good LED front lights and they have that white almost "blueish" light that you see on newer cars (xenon lights) that matches the bike in black really good. So that VFR1200F actually looks really decent for being a big, 12 year old sport tourer and they sell it for 7000€ with OEM panniers, heated grips and only 15000 miles on her. I think it is a lot of bike for the money, being Honda I can put 4 times as many miles on her on my alp trips in Europe every summer without being worried about something breaking =)
They are drop down pegs. By Knight Designs. I didn't put them on the bike, the previous owner did. They measure 2 inches - from the center of the cotter pin to the bottom of the peg themselves. I took a picture for you but can't figure out how to attach it here. Overall, I am not a fan - I feel like I am on a merry go round horse with my feet really low on the bike. Feels even lower than my '18 Harley Road Glide. I will probably change them out this winter. Do you want them? I will gladly send them to you (no charge) if you want them. Just let me know.
@@jasonfararooei5722 Sure, I’d give them a whirl. I had looked at the Knight Designs, but wasn’t sure if I would like not having the rubber padding like OEM
Yeah it sure sounds bad for a V4 engine. Imagine if it sounded like the Aprilia Tuono V4. I have heard that the VFR 800 sounds better but that bike almost feels like a Yamaha MT-07 powerwise.
@@mathias6423 The VFR800 has a different crankshaft angle, so it sounds like a crossplane V4. That's the sound we like to hear from a V4, or even a R1 crossplane engine.
@@whisperdancer yeah, I remember 2019 I was at the local shop looking at a 2018 MT-10 that had walking distance miles on it and the price was a steal. I was going to think about buying it over night and just before I leave the shop the salesman start it up, it had the linkpipe without cat on it. 30 minutes later I was home in my garage with the bike , that sound was something else, hooked me =)
i just wish these had the firing order of the early vfr800s and the vfr750s, and a stripped down model! Theyd be perfect

Nice pipe. Looks good sounds good. Just the right size. Don't want it blocking the view of single swingarm back wheel.
The red & black badge is a good match for the rest of the bike.
Agreed and thank you!
That v4 engine sound is unmistakable

Go ahead
Get a Bazzaz Z-Bomb to fool the ecu into thinking 1st and 2nd are 3rd gear.
You'll never look back.
Got one because of this video. Sounds crazy in 2nd.
Congrats Vance!!! It's a great sounding pipe and I'm glad you're loving it on your bike!!
Excellent sound, looks good, well done!
Thanks Pilot!

09 Concours will roast you like a pig at a pig roast. I had one great bike except the bad fairing design.

Beautiful machine 😍
Thank you! It's a joy to ride.
This slip-on shows more of that nice back tire which is great, but the question is, does it work with the oem panniers since it is angled up a bit ?

1:07 where is your oil dude?
oil doesn't show in the window when you have it on its side stand. The bike must be level to read correctly.
No matter what exhaust, the bike still doesn’t sound good. What was Honda thinking
Doesn’t look good either😅 I’m glad I kept my 800
It was thinking 170 hp that will run 100,000 miles no problem
Worst V4 sound ever. Just like a bmw boxer or a benelli TRK501.
