I've done this so many times that I have lost count. Works really good when Windows downloads an older driver. Thanks for sharing. Take care everyone. Cheers
Knowledge is powerful. Cheers Mike. Wattage saved here and yes I had not realised the gpu's once again run fan less when required (1660 super, 3060ti, 3080 & 4080s all "cleaned") . I had my 3080 idling at 89 Watts 👀. Not now 👏
Who doesn't love a clean install. It's great! I've always used that method Mike. I believe there is the same option for people using Radeon cards. Sometimes I wonder if DDU is only meant to be used when jumping from team red to team green
Nice instructive video Mike.l never knew about that before, but l’ve never had any issues with my Nvidia driver downloads using the Nvidia gforce experience mode 👏⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Another brilliant and super clear video - thank you! At one point you said that if you have an intel cpu you will crash when unzipping the driver. I wondered if you were alluding to the degradation problem? Or is it just common for intel CPU’s? My 13900k can only install the driver 1 on every six or so tries. Do you think my cpu has degraded, this is after all the bios updates and clean windows install.
yes that was referencing the recent Intel 13th and 14th gen troubles. it is possible your chip is starting to show signs of failure, on mine i manually undervolt my cpu a little to give it an easier time and lower voltages, that might be worth looking into
@@mikesunboxingoh good, I’m glad you said that! I bit the bullet and my pc is back with Scan being tested. Beforehand they said it sounds like the i9 has degraded and will need to be replaced.
a tutorial on how to read crash minidumps would be great. i've had a few heap corruption crashes lately, as well as random system restarts, and i can't figure out what the issue is. i know there is a way to read crash report and minidump files, but can't remember off top of my head. As for these fresh-installs, i do them more or less all the time.
Oldie but goodie software is called blue screen viewer, I use it for work it can read mini dump files in Windows. Easy to use once you open it, your .dmp files are automatically loaded in, and it gives you the name of the error, the cause (for example a certain driver) it is a free download give it a go :)
i get a problem with the games fallout new vegas & fallout 4, not tried three but i am sure its the same, i download the nvidea driver, do a restart, because that's the proper way, i try to load the game but it crashes, no matter what i do they just will not load past the load screen, windowed mode or any other way..... they just will not load, i found a way round it by not restarting or powering off the pc at all, in order to play the above, i never have figured why this happens, i do mod my games & thought that this was the cause, but in order for most mods to work you have to start up the game in order to create the game file for the mods to take affect, i thought maybe its because of a difference between clarkdale & lynnfield chips, but i have not fully investigated due to finding a way round via the none powering down of the pc & able to live with this, but it would be nice to have a reason why this happens.
All the cool kids are running Linux on AMD these days, with all the Microsoft shenanigans going on. How about putting together a tutorial to walk us through it.
no the cool kids are not running linux, unless there has been some kind of weird parallel universe happen overnight and 90+ percent of the population have ditched Windows. people have been saying this since 1995 and it still has the same or similar market share. its never going to happen, but if you are happy with it and like it then that is awesome

thanks for the suggestion. really helpful
I have always done a clean install with driver updates after an issue similar to what your explaining here seems sound advice for sure thx
thanks
Great video Mike. I’ve been using the Clean method for my cards for as long as it’s been an option.
i don't really use it, but after Rick mentioned it after the problems we were both experiencing it will now be the default method for me

you could be right there, makes sense to me
Makes good sense doing a clean install. Thanks Mike and Kath 👍
Thanks 👍

you are in the lucky minority it seems! Long may it continue

I will have to try this. Thank You Mike
let me know how you get on
Good job you both. I used ddu since years without thinking. Never tried the custom install, wtf😄👍
Try it, i was also in the same position, largely ignored it, but it seems to work wonders
A easy & clean How To by MUB HQ 👍
Thank you very much 😀
You are welcome 😊

i'll see what i can do

Sorry but I assume you do this after you install the new card. Is there anything needed before make the physical switch?
depends what GPU you are coming from. But generally uninstalling the previous GPU software is enough prep
Hi Mike, Have you undervolted your graphics card? If not could you do a how to video to show how its done?
i haven't sorry. but i'll do some research and try and get something on the channel soon
How to create clean youtube video this man can teach you.
thanks
Not used that method yet, but maybe I should do next time just to make certain everything is as shipshape as it can be, I usually just hit Express
yeah i usually go the quicker way, but maybe i have been missing a trick here

that is really odd, have you tried creating a new user profile on the PC and see if it is something if your user profile causing it?
