I honestly feel like the other reps from other companies aren’t true knife guys... almost as if it’s more of a job to them rather than a passion. You can tell this is Eric’s passion which I love.
I have to say that watching David and Eric talking about knives is one of the best thing you can be looking for as a knife nerd. Every year I jump on those announcement videos and never have been disappointed by the energy of Eric and the love he put in his job, nor by the deep connaissance of David about history of knives, blade geometry, steels, overall just a true appreciation of what make a knife. Keep the good work men !
I love that Eric is a knife nerd like we are. He definitely knows his stuff. I've never had a use for serrated knives, but after hearing him talk about how seriously they take serration design... if I buy a serrated knife it will be a Spyderco :)
I severed the tendons in my pinky with a fully serrated Spyderco about 24 years ago. I was young, without insurance, so I'm permanently reminded of how wicked a Spyderco knife can be if used improperly.
I opened up the full length of my pinky and half way down the edge of my hand with the Civilian with just the lightest touch 3 yrs ago. Still hasn’t fully healed the skin still opens at the middle joint. I bet there’s many more like us 😄
I purchased my first Spyderco in the early 90s. And still continue to be impressed with their quality and innovation-with more appreciation for the company’s integrity. -Thank you.
Thank God Spyderco finally is coming out with the Stretch 2 lightweight Straight Spine in an upgraded high-end blade steel(K390)!!! Because I actually was able to get the sprint run stretch 2 lightweight straight spine with ivory FRN handle in VG10 steel and it's absolutely amazing!!! What annoyed me is that Spyderco created the Endela and quickly made it a full production line knife, but then only did the amazing Stretch 2 lightweight straight spine as a sprint run. In my personal opinion, the Spyderco Endela is basically just a crappier/dumbed down version of the stretch straight spine because it has no forward finger choil, and its FRN Handles shape is slightly less ergonomic than the handle of the stretch 2 lightweight straight spine!!!
So every time I find a sweet Spyderco it's a sold out exclusive.......not fun. Then they get scalped on Ebay..not fun. Thanks for a Regular line Cru-Wear.
To compound on what others have said… Eric is a genuine guy. I watched a video of him giving a tour of their factory. He consistently talked about their company trying to achieve the highest quality. I already loved Spyderco, but the fact that he is an honest hard working American makes me love the brand that much more.
If you get a knife to cut things, get a serrated blade, especially from Spyderco. If I’m not mistaken they were the first ones to come out with them. Because they work better
Spyderco does a lot of things right... The Dragonfly is a great small knife, they offer a great steel selection. Sadly, at least in my eyes, is that their knifes all look the same. And the ones that don't are freaking ugly / poorly designed (I mean that phoenix is large with a tiny edge, and wtf was up with the pochi, Shaman (my fav design from Spyderco) hits your thumb when you close it). Oh and I find those sprint runs annoying... it means that Spyderco makes your favourite knife in your favourite steel, yet you cannot buy it.
I appreciate Spyderco tried to overcome challenges but the Blade length, non Locking, no one hand opening laws are the worst thing to happen to the knife industry, people’s freedom and safety....these laws are what needs to be overcome
I don't know about other countries, but in the USA I think certain cities pass all kinds of complicated and restrictive knife laws so they can more easily suck people into the criminal justice system. Like, if they're out to get someone, maybe if they frisk him he'll have a knife that isn't in total compliance. This also helps the police improve their stats on how many weapons they're getting off the streets, so they can report that to the Mayor and media and pretend they took a bite out of crime when they didn't. Also, there's no powerful knife lobby like there is a gun lobby, so when they're drafting new knife laws the law makers don't feel any pressure in the other direction.
@@Pinki2019 I definitely feel you on this and I’m Sure this is the case in some places. But also I think that a good portion of it is clever politicians coming up with ways to make people feel safer regardless if it actually makes people safer
