So. We recorded this video. I’d mentioned that it’s absolutely valid to go with non-meta strategies and find ways to make them competitive. And at the same time, I warned about the challenges of using Sauron orcs, and of using Gandalf as your starting companion. Then, a few weekends ago, four of us Michiganders got together at a local game store for a relaxed Fellowship Block tournament. And the deck which won every single game and swept the tournament? One of the guys brought a Sauron Orc wound machine, built on Orc Bowmen and Under the Watching Eye. And his starting companion was Gandalf, the Grey Pilgrim. And like, when I lost to him, it wasn’t even close. The orc conditions were firing on all cylinders. So I’m happy to say again: build the kind of deck that makes you happy, and you’ll be able to find ways to make it competitive.

Do you have a deck list for the deck you put on screen close to the end of the video? Also, I watched your 2 hour tutorial where you played yourself with 2 decks to help new players such as myself learn the game! I love the concept of the deck you had win with the stealth and hobbit intuitions. Do you happen to have a list on that one as well?

@@davidcrocker9336 Thanks so much for watching, and for your kind feedback! Yes, so, I’ve made some changes to the hobbit deck here and there, so it doesn’t look exactly the same as you see in that video, but presently it looks like this:
      Frodo, Reluctant Adventurer
      Isildur’s Bane
      Sam, Proper Poet
      Merry, from O’er the Brandywine
      Pippin, Friend to Frodo
      (1) Hobbiton Woods
      (2) Buckleberry Ferry
      (3) Frodo’s Bedroom
      (4) Mithril Mine
      (5) The Bridge of Khazad-Dum
      (6) Valley of the Silverlode
      (7) Anduin Wilderland
      (8) Anduin Banks
      (9) Wastes of Emyn Muil
      Bounder (3)
      Filibert Bolger
      Hobbit Sword (3)
      Sting
      Frying Pan (2)
      Hobbit Stealth (4)
      Hobbit Intuition (4)
      Dagger Strike (4)
      There and Back Again (2)
      Power According to His Stature
      Mithril Coat
A Talent for not Being Seen
      Isengard Axe (4)
      Servants to Saruman (4)
      The Trees Are Strong
      Isengard Worker (3)
      Isengard Servant (4)
      Isengard Retainer (4)
      Uruk-Hai Raiding Party (4)
      Uruk Slayer (4)
      Orc Overseer
      Orc Commander (2)

      @@davidcrocker9336 And then:
I don’t have a shadow side for the free peoples example deck I put together for this video, or a set of sites (site 1 would definitely be The Prancing Pony), but the free peoples list is:
      Gandalf, The Grey Pilgrim
      Frodo, Old Bilbo’s Heir
      The Ruling Ring
Trust Me As You Once Did (4)
      Mysterious Wizard (4)
      Glamdring (2)
      Gandalf’s Staff (2)
      Strength of Spirit (3)
      Intimidate (2)
      Hobbit Sword (2)
      Hobbit Stealth (4)
      Bounder (2)
      Ranger’s Sword
      Flaming Brand
      Aragorn’s Bow
      Boromir, Son of Denethor
      Gimli, Son of Gloin
      Legolas, Prince of Mirkwood
      Sam, Proper Poet
      Aragorn, Ranger of the North
      Pippin, Hobbit of Some Intelligence
      Merry, Friend to Sam
If you wanted to use that Free Peoples side as a springboard, then you can have fun designing your own Shadow side and set of sites to match it. :)
Finally, no pressure, but I do have a video going through my strategy for the Hobbit deck listed above, which can be found here: m.ruclips.net/video/aP9bAZnOVsk/видео.html

I’ll definitely watch that right away! You can take one full shadow deck and play it independently from every fellowship deck you have? Like, if I enjoy playing a specific shadow strategy, most I can mix it in with any deck I decide to play as fellowship?

    • @WestMichiganTransformers
      @WestMichiganTransformers 2 года назад +1

@@davidcrocker9336 If I understand your question correctly, yes. So, each full deck has to have an equal number of shadow cards and free peoples cards. If you made, say, a stomper Uruk-Hai shadow side with 35 cards, then yes, you could conceivably make any number of free peoples sides-each with 35 cards, and then just mix and match from game to game. Of course, there are strategic considerations for how certain free peoples and shadow sides might synergize, and especially for how specific sites synergize with various strategies.

Awesome video! I have yet to make my first deck but this exactly how I would want my fellowship side to look. Would love to see some more deck tech type videos of the fellowship block especially with what and why you would play certain sites. Great stuff!

God, I miss this game. Decipher was really the best CCG company. SWCCG and LotRCCG were so much better than Magic, Pokémon, and the rest.

My parents threw away my deck that I used to collect as kid. Back then I just used to collect them not knowing how to play. Still can't get over it....

Fortunately, there are still plenty of cards out there! You can still get in to the game. :)

I just print proxies with mpc for mine. Saves loads of money and you can get any card you want. This games gotten expensive the last couple years.
