  • A German Just Stop Oil protest group called Letzte Generation, Last Generation, had two members pushed along a busy road as they clung to the front of a moving car.
    The silver Peugeot tries to get the protesters to move by driving towards them.
    When the protesters don't move the car keeps going and the two activists hold onto the car bonnet as it drives down the road.

    As was witnessed by cameras, it was clearly their choice to climb on the bonnet of a moving car in an effort to stop it. If they get injured, the fault is theirs, not the drivers...

      No, the driver is at fault for continuing to drive. Simple really, if someone jumps on your car, you stop. If you carry on driving and they fall off and crack open their skulls, you are to blame since you were in control of the thing that they were holding onto.

    • @ArkLord001
      @ArkLord001 Год назад +36

      It's called unlawful detainment actually and most countries do have a law regarding it and Kidnapping typically falls under this. In Canada, article 494 of the Federal criminal code allows you to effect a citizen's arrest and in this case, the charge would be unlawful detainment and allows you to use reasonable force to detain the individual(s) until police arrive. At which time you advise the police that you have made a citizen's arrest under article 494 of the Federal criminal code for unlawful detainment and that you are remanding the individual(s) to their custody. He may NOT release them and they must be arraigned at the police station where they can be released after the charges are entered either free of bail or with bail.

    In Florida, purposely standing in front of someone’s car is considered false imprisonment and is a third degree felony, punishable for up to five years in prison. They can also be sued civilly for money. Protestors peacefully stand on the side of the road with their protest signs. Criminals falsely imprison hundreds of people by standing in front of their cars and illegally restrict their movement. They should be run over or put in jail.. look up false imprisonment, because that’s what these criminals are doing.

      Let alone them holding samples for months.

      @petehouse8380 The actions of these individuals are neither peaceful nor lawful. They are attempting to stop by force a vehicle lawfully using a road - that per se is a violent act and is not one allowed without lawfully authority - which is not vested in people protesting a personal view. If they wish to escalate their methods that simply demonstrates their fundamental anti -social objectives; they should be dealt with accordingly. In many countries, their actions would attract a violent response. I believe the time has come for that type of response in UK as the protesters seem to want to escalate their activities. I would prefer official violent reaction as that would be measured and proportionate; violent reaction by the public could well be disproportionate - although, perhaps, have a more immediate impact. It's a pity that this situation exists, but the protesters' respect for society's rights have apparently disappeared in their self-righteous knowledge that they know best and must, therefore, impose their views on the rest of society. A short sharp shock, supplemented by hard work whilst incarcerated, would give them an opportunity to acquire a new perspective.

If they really care about the environment go protest in China and India who are the major contributors to global pollution.
