  • Well....what can I say about this movie. It certainly isn't a horror movie. Suspense, yes. Drama, yes.
We spent most of the time trying to figure out what was going on. The rest of the time trying to care...
Just not sure what people see in this movie. Having to edit it, I had hoped that, knowing the end, it would make more sense....It just doesn't! If the movie was designed to bring awareness to the madness in Vietnam it falls well short. Was that part even real?
    Just confusing...

I'm not gonna judge you guys for not liking this movie. It's a tough nut to crack. But I love this movie. A little context is needed. Back in the 90s, I did a sh!tload of LSD. Saw this in the theater trippin' balls. The disjointed narrative and surreal images were exactly what I was trying to see at the time. I respectfully disagree with you guys that this isn't a horror movie. To me, losing one's mind while the world seems hellbent on treating you like sh!t is way more horrific than some giant retard chasing you with a big knife. At any rate, if you wanna watch a nasty little horror gem, I'd suggest Terrifier (2016). But if you really want a fun gorefest, you can't go wrong with Re-animator (1985). Just make sure you get the unrated version.

I love this movie as well. Never did LSD, but I get this movie, because of other issues I deal with. It's thought-provoking for sure, ya just gotta have the patience for it to understand it. Just my opinion.

Yep, I agree, a firm favourite of mine, it's like a slow unwinding plot that bubbles away unsettlingly until the end, mounting tension. I'll settle down to watch this reaction though, interesting to see it even if they didn't like it, and somehow a well-edited reaction movie is half the time of the actual movie and serves as a recap for me.
But seeing this in the theatre trippin' balls, man, that must have been one heck of an experience!!! =)

lol well shit sorry you guys didn't like it. It is a fever dream, and it does take its time to focus on vibe over always moving forward. Mistake for this audience! It was one of my more outside picks, (if you were listening to me when you chose it,) but I would defend that it is a horror movie! We wouldn't have Silent HIll without Jacob's Ladder! It was required viewing by the dev team on the first game to help create the atmosphere they were looking for.
You're not gonna like Halloween btw, you're going to think it's way too slow if you didn't like this. But if you're up for newer stuff, Trick 'R Treat from 2017? That is a great horror anthology movie. None of this gaslighting stuff, just splatting horror action with a fun story. :-P

Jacob’s Ladder is certainly a horror but it’s a psychological horror movie and it needs a slow pace to build up the story where we’re not sure, if it’s real or if it’s all happening inside of his head. The demons are some of the most creepy stuff that I’ve seen in a movie. We get many clues throughout the movie but we don’t know for sure what is actually happening before the end and I like that very much. It’s a disturbing movie explaining ptsd among veterans (according to other people, not me) but it also have a few touching scenes in particular when Louie tells him the quote by Master Eckhardt and when he and his son walk together up towards the light.

Well, you may not have liked this movie, but you sure had fun with the editing, I'm rolling and I'm only 4 mins in! :D
    Brilliant!
Say what you will above and below me, but so far this channel is bold enough to state if they enjoyed the movie or not whereas some of the high flying reaction channels seem to love everything (sadly for the sake of views and thumbs up) so I'd rather see the Neilster and Thornsten's genuine reaction anyday. Thanks guys!

Have you seen Se7en? Some gore but not really horror. More pycho thriller, and lets you try to figure things out. Also, I'm still voting for District 9, fast pace, gore, unique storyline and leaving you wanting more at the end. Most fans have been waiting for the sequel that never came.

I'll just a watch a little because I've never seen this one... maybe you'll convince me to watch it all😊. I recommend Angel Heart (Mickey Rourke & Robert De Niro) which came out at a similar time as a great noir detective horror - just a great movie with a lot of 1950s style expertly directed by Alan Parker!

I’ll certainly recommend you to watch Jacob’s Ladder as it in mine and many other people’s opinions is an underrated masterpiece. Angel Heart is also a great movie which much too few RUclipsrs react to. Mickey Rourke plays very convincing and there’s a tension throughout the whole movie.

Ooh, I think I have a good one for a gorey movie. It's called "Dead Alive" and it was directed by Peter Jackson (LoTR). It's pretty weird, gross and silly. I think it's from 1992. I like Jacob's Ladder, but I totally get that it's not everyone's cup of tea.
