3 points make a plane, when you have 4 points you end up with the issues you have had. get a 3 point tarp instead, but I like your solution! Very nice! Subscribed!
This looks really practical and still very elegant. Great idea.
Simple solution. 2 diagonal corners pulled straight/level and the 2 other remaining corner pulled slightly down. This is how hammock camping is done under a tarp.
Wow that center support is genius
I think a decent wind would rip it to bits.
But I like the idea, I have used an exercise ball to push the centre up, it sits on scaffold tubes with a scaffold frame. But the wind is strong so I need greater strength
I'm gonna make tarp for my patio like this! OMG!
Planning to do same things as sun shade .great work
Thanks for watching and good luck!
That tumbler makes nice work out of things. Now you "just" need a powder coat machine :-).
Pretty clever idea.
Elegant solution, nice!
Looks (and acts) like a giant umbrella, but it's hovering! Really cleaver and elegant design. One question tho, does your location get windy?
It gets windy only in the winter. It will be taken down fairly soon and brought out again around April.
@@MaxMakerChannel Oh cool. I live in Taiwan, it's basically windy and typhoons all year, the giant umbrella we bought has been in storage for 5 years...
@@RexusKing Oh wow. Some day I will visit!
daaaamn, mate.
this looks amazing! thanks for inspo!
Cool! It's a floating umbrella! :)
Really nice solution. What kind of tarp did you use? And where did you buy it? Thx
I got it from ebay. There are many out there labled as sun shades or sun tarps.
Damn, this is pretty slick
Im actually going to use this idea for waterproofing under my deck i hate murky rain water coming down through the deck🤦
Thank you for sharing this! Was really just thinking I could make a canopy with a tarp. Will try making/3D printing the bracket piece. Do you have the file posted somewhere? Noting I'll likely have to custom model for my own deck/angles.
Clever!
Great creative solution. Does the top bracket of the centre pole just push up against the tarp? If so, does that cause any damage to the tarp,
Yes it pushes against the tarp, but I learned that its best to have no tension on the tarp itself. You should have all the tension on the paracord. The tarp only lies on top of the structure without any tension.
Exactly what i looked for
Excellent - THANK YOU!
Are you able to use something else other then bolts? I'm in a rental
You should look for a video on how to patch holes in mortar. Just do it up perfectly when you leave and you are good to go!
Genius!
Cool stuff
Ingenious idea and great video! Wanted to ask your advice. I have East-facing slider windows which get a ton of morning sun making it really hot in the summer. I've been using ugly pink 4 x 8 insulation boards on the outside of the windows. While it works and keeps the heat out, it also blocks virtually all light and is incredibly ugly.(my wife HATES it). I had an idea using a white 10 x 8 waterproof and UV rated tarp. Was going to hang it either using the grommet holes and just put it up and down each day...or string a wire/cord across the header and use the grommets like a shower curtain. Ever seen anyone do this? My wife is already shaking her head...but figured it would keep out the heat/uv and allow light as it's white. What do you think?
Hey, I totally get your idea. In essence you want to add window shutters. You could build wooden ones, or buy ready made one. I get you want a simpler solution, so why not build your own window shutters?
Another soultion could be reflective mirror foils that you stick to the windows themselves.
@@MaxMakerChannel So I tried putting tin foil on the windows...it worked, but were more or less permanent for the summer. Not to mention the neighbors LOVED the reflexion they got. ;) I just tried the white tarp idea...it actually worked! Blocked the heat, let in the light. Just gotta affix it somehow...thinking clamping it to the vinyl siding. Still have to put it up and down each day, but it works. And looks less ugly than the pink boards. I LOVE your idea of wooden shutters...there's just nowhere to really install them or to move them left or right. It's a better idea than the tarp, though. I'll have to think about that now...thank indeed Max! :)
@@lewisdennen3734 Window awning.
Wish I had one.
Mind blowing 😘
Brilliant
very good
Hi Max did you also change the material you used to build this, it looks totally different
Different from what? Its a tarp and aluminium.
Awesome
What’s the name of those metal things you have in your brick wall. I need some of that and how to install it. Any video on that. I want to make a tarp shelter in my backyard
If you search for steel eybolts you should find some. Then I used standard plastic dowels with 12mm inside diamter. Look for a dowel in brick tutorial. Its easy.
@@MaxMakerChannel thank you!!!!
Awesome, but to difficult for me, I'm a cabbage. But I will try. Thanks.
Not my car 😂
Is there anything else you would recommend if I don't have those brackets
Plywood?
Max! How does this contraption fare in the wind? I want to install a 20' tarp in the same fashion but we get gusts through our alley.
Its doing ok. I since added a second upright post to get a steeper angle and this time the tarp doesn’t get any load. It is just draped over the rope frame.
Hey. How good is this design with strong wind?
It survived every storm so far. The trick is to build it in such a way that it cannot move much in any direction. Not up or down.
cool
Hey can I purchase a bracket or the bracket 2.0 you mention?? I need one for my canopy!!
I would reccomend to find a local fabricator. Or to just cut it yourself. You can cut aluminium with any woodworking tools.
One strong wind, bye bye tarp 😂
How did it hold up on windy days?
Perfectly.
I’m interested in ur canopy support brackets u created for canopy. Please let me know if u are interested in selling these.
Hey, I am located in Germany, so it doesn´t really make sense to send them. However you can just use Plywood instead and that should work just as well.
@@MaxMakerChannel You can ship them UPS or FEDEX Yes?
Neither sorry.
How long is the center shaft?
1.2m
You ever consider waterproof patio cushions, Alert they sell them 😂😂
Seems a bit over the top just so you Don’t have to put your Spring and Summer Furniture Away
Its litereally over the top.
Yes it sure looks like less effort than to just put the chairs inside.
Frank That’s what we call an effort investment
Well said.
Dislike! Warum nicht etwas Fixes, stabiles Dach?
This guy is filthy rich. Has a Porsche car and a 3d printer. Printer brand probably is Audi
Its my neighbours Porsche and its from the 80s. Not filthy rich just filthy.
