    My dad used to have an excursion, the really desirable one too, 7.3 with 4x4. One if the nicest trucks I've ever been in even to this day. Keep in mind this truck was built in the mid 2000s. I never knew how much he bought it for but I'd imagine a lot less than they go for nowadays. It was back in like 2005-6ish. I assume they are so expensive now bc the really desirable ones are hard to find and if you do find them it's usually 300k+ miles.

      They built (sold = accurate a statement) the 7.3L diesel X-cursion till mid 2003. Then they built the 6.0 diesel till 2005. In other countries like Australia, its been said you could buy a 7.3L till about 2005.
      I own a 2000 7.3L Limited 4x4.
      221k miles. Some rust, yet runs great. If you built our vehicle today, as closely as you could, even by 2022 standards, it would be $100k MSRP easily. Seats 8 pretty well. Goes about in bad weather & Ice like a Snowmobile on NOS. Soccer moms used to own & drive these once Minivans were not cool to them any longer. My wife loves ours but I keep threatening to sell it since Diesel will be extinct in 25 days they tell me. & who questions the media's accuracy to tell us the facts about the world! Who wants it? 👀

    I had the chance to purchase an Excursion (one of my favorite SUVs of all time) for only 4k just a few months before Covid kicked off. • @kbrownfocus
      @kbrownfocus 2 года назад +2

      Glad you passed... The V10 is actually the worst version of the excursion.... They go cheap af, even now, I can pick one up for $7k here in TX.... But good luck getting a deal on the Diesel Excursion, even the 2wd is going for about $48k, and thats been the going price for about 12yrs now

    • @sofloflow
      @sofloflow 2 года назад +1

      @@kbrownfocus is the V10 really that bad or is it just that the 7.3 is way more desirable? I could go without the turbo diesel if the V10 is at the least reliable, considering its 1/4 the cost.

    • @kbrownfocus
      @kbrownfocus 2 года назад +4

      @@sofloflow I used to be a Ford tech, the V10 had bad reliability, compared to the 7.3, and even the 6.0, but we all know the probs the 6.0 had. Almost every excursion I had come in with the V10 it had to have new heads, because the threads were too shallow, causing the plugs to pop out while driving. But alot of those could probably be fixed by now. The biggest prob with the V10 is mpg, I mean if you don't mind paying a premium filling up all the time, then the 7-10mpg won't bother you. Remember, it's an SUV body on an F250 frame, just remember that when you have to replace ball joints, brakes, suspension and all the other things that come with maintenance

    • @jamesgeorge4874

      They were produced from 2000-2006. The first 2 years the 6.0 wasn't even available, and 7.3 production went fairly deep into 03. I worked for Ford at the time. The 6.0, if maintained with the proper parts, and not leaned on with tuning, can be a decent engine. But most people can't resist plugging in a box, and turning up the power.

      @penguin12902 Год назад

      Meanwhile my Subaru will go all the way across the country on that same amount of fuel...all I have to do is stop and fill it a few times. Is fuel capacity really an important feature in a vehicle???

    • @rogerscott8321
      @rogerscott8321 Год назад

      @Penguin1290 Yes. The less time spent at a pump is more time spent moving down the road. I drive for a living and work 12 hour shifts. If I'm making a long drive on my days off or during vacation, I want to get to where I'm going with as little time spent around my vehicle as possible. People don't realize how much time is added on to a trip for something as small as stopping for fuel. On another note, you're doing your driving in a more modern lighter vehicle that's designed to get decent fuel economy. I'm literally traveling in a 23 year old 8000lb vehicle that's about as aerodynamic as your refrigerator, all while still averaging in the upper teens/low 20s on fuel economy. This is a task that's difficult for most modern, full sized suvs.

    I bought a clean excursion 7.3 last week for $4500. Needed a transmission, got one from the junk yard for $800. Thought that was a little steep but is what it is. 147k on the odo. I see them sell for $30-$35k around here all day long

    That explains why some of the Excursions I've been seeing were over 30k, but they were motor swapped. Sheesh, I wanted one but not anymore with that price.
