Just started getting into this. Haven’t built a deck or played TCG since yugioh. Building a deck seemed so intimidating but this video simplified it so much. Thanks for all the amazing tips!
It's awesome to hear you're starting out in Lorcana, and I'm super happy to hear the video was helpful! Good luck on your adventure, and happy questing
Thanks for this video and it's clear explanations that are easy to follow. I'm new to Lorcana and trading card games and have no idea what I'm doing 😅 so I'm sure this will be referred to many times.
That’s very kind of you! Comments like this makes our day and shows why we put so much love while making our content. We are pleased that the video was helpful for you! Thanks for the comment. Happy questing!
Great video. Do you guys have a video on the weaknesses of each color? I would like to be able to understand how to play against madam mim and amethyst.
We do not, but it’s definitely something we can look into for the future. And against Madam Min, the best strategy is trying to prevent the bounce by removing characters from the board so she can’t be played. After that, playing characters with 3 strength is good because if they challenge with them, they’ll be banished too n
Just got into the game and I’m planning on making two decks as my primary decks: a ruby steel hero deck focused around Mulan and Hercules and an amber amethyst villain focused on Chernobog and Maleficent/Ursula.
Excellent video! How do you go about deciding how many copies of a card you want to keep in your deck? Also, what would be the ideal breakdown of each cost 1-6+ cards in your deck? Thanks!
Thanks for the kind comment :) 03:38 - When it comes to how many of each card in your deck, our general rule is 4 of cards that are key to your strategy. There's quite a bit of nuance to this though. Some cards might be key, but they may be uninkable or have a high ink cost, so sometimes you want to reduce those numbers so you're not stuck with them early in the game. And some cards might only be relevant against certain decks, so you don't want them as often, but can mulligan for them. 05:10 - For the ideal breakdown of 1-6+ cards, this will depend on what type of deck you're running. For instance, an aggro deck might have 50% or more of their decks as 1-2 drops because they want to flood the board early and quest fast. Again, a good rule of thumb is to have a few 1-2 drops, more 3-5 drops, and some 6+ drops. In my deck (Amber/Steel) for instance, I have nineteen 1-2 drops, thirty-seven 3-5 drops, and four 6+ drops.
Hey! I really liked this video! I’m going to like and subscribe to support you, but you definitely are great at presenting information! Thanks for the content! I appreciate the way you explain things!
Ohh that's so kind of you! Thanks for the nice comment, and for the like/subscribe. We love helping the Lorcana community and comments like these gives us an extra boost every time. Happy Questing!
Yep, you can go above 60, although it’s usually better to stick to 60 for consistency.

great video. The only thing that is not clear to me is if u can combine multiple different sets in you deck? For instants the shimmering skies and the first chapter?
Hello! Yes, all the cards released so far can be used in your deck. If a card is ever banned from official play, these will be added in an official Lorcana ban list. As of right now, there aren’t any cards banned in the game. Thanks for the comment and happy questing!
It can be. Currently the problem is lack of card draw in those colours since they’re primarily the removal colours in the game. But as more cards are added, the combo will improve.
The good news is that deck is really strong. The main advice I can offer is always try to protect your Merlins (especially the Rabbit) by bouncing them back to your hand with the Mims. The Rabbit will help you keep your hand full of cards, which most starter decks struggle with. And just practice with it lots to understand the different lines of play available
This new trading card game reminds me of Dungeons and Dragons. I have never actually played Dungeons and Dragons. This card game is new to me, and I am sure to go to other card game players as well. Thank you for the information on this video. 😊😊
@@InkbornHeroes thank you!! I will probably have to watch this again in thr near future tl refresh my memory. Is it okay just to collect the cards instead of playing the game but learn the concept of the rules for this?
@@Wolfie24v8h Yes, absolutely! One of the awesome things about trading card games is you can play, collect, or both! So do which ever makes you happy 🥰
It’s any card that’s essential to the strategy of the deck, and that you want to increase your chances of seeing every game. For instance, if you’re playing Ruby Amethyst, cards like Be Prepared, Queen’s Castle, and Mims and Merlins are considered key cards and most of those decks will have 4 of each of those cards.
im not playing tournaments so unless someone gives me a REALLY GOOD reason one why i should only play w two inks in my deck imma gonna continue play w more than two inks in my decks thank u very much
Locations are an interesting one. I’d definitely recommend adding them based on your win condition. If they don’t fit that, you likely don’t need to add them. But locations can also force decisions. In my Ruby Amethyst deck, The Queen Castle wins me so many games just by forcing my opponent to make a choice between that or my characters. But it also furthers my ability to draw cards.

Wait hold up 60 is just the minimum?! I’ve been playing thinking you needed exactly 60 cards, no more no less. Dang.
Yep, you can go above 60, although it’s usually better to stick to 60 for consistency.
great video. The only thing that is not clear to me is if u can combine multiple different sets in you deck? For instants the shimmering skies and the first chapter?
Yes you can 😊 Each set adds 204 new cards to try out in your decks
How would you integrate location cards? Or would you strictly keep it as just add them based on ink cost and character synergy.
Is there a recommendation for the number/ratio of characters:items:actions?
There’s no golden rule for those ratios. It will depend on the deck and your win condition.
@@InkbornHeroes I see thank you!

@@InkbornHeroes I’m sorry how can I tell what’s a key card compared to what I should build that should have 4
@@nowtunein5501 What ink colors do you usually play as? And what you try to focus on as your winning condition?
I am not sure since I’m new to the game but I do like the “agro” approach
If you play aggro with emerald, an example of key card would be “Cursed Merfolk”. In amethyst, something like “Maleficent, Binding Her Time”.
im not playing tournaments so unless someone gives me a REALLY GOOD reason one why i should only play w two inks in my deck imma gonna continue play w more than two inks in my decks thank u very much
