- This is part one of a two-part clip of my 1/10th scale, gas fired live steam Markie Scenic Showman's engine running on the mains transformer. The term 'scenic' apparently refers to the crane on the rear of the model, that would have been used originally to power fair ground rides. As well as being a gas-fired engine, this also comes with a small transformer which simply plugs into the dynamo, so great for running if you just fancy a 'display queen' model on your shelf.
This video was made for uploading to the "Unofficial Mamod & Other Steam' forum, where you can find lots of fun things out about live steam toys.

Nice. Another feature that distinguishes a "scenic" engine from other showmans is the auxiliary dynamo that excites the coils of the main dynamo to prevent belt breakage when starting heavy scenic railway rides
Thanks for the nice comment. Yeah she is a nice engine. Have you got a video of your Crimson Minnie?
Nice video!
Where were the drive bands from?
Hi lovely engine, could please tell me what transformer and motor are using kind regards vinny
Hi Vinny,
The motor/dynamo and the power supply actually came with the engine. The supply is switchable from 3 to 6 and 12 volts, but the engine runs best on 3 volts for a slow speed. I should imagine 6 volts is need to run the canopy lights, but as I have these powered from a hidden battery under the roof, I am not bothered about trying to get the motor to run them. Hope this helps?
@@modelsounds2509 thankyou ,most appreciated , vinny
