That is a great looking knot and looks easy to do. I will have to give that a try. If I was fishing with braided line without a leader would this knot be the route to go or is there a better knot to use with braided line.
The palomar is a very poor knot for braid. Check out my Fish-N-Fool knot as it is the strongest knot ever tested on braid or mono. For leader connection between braid and mono I use the Crazy Alberto knot.

Well your half right, but the standard uni knot is by far from the best knot. It ranks about 10th on the list of more well known knots. Also the way you tie is very awkward and there is a much easier way. Although the uni is far from the best knot with a minor variation however it does become the best knot. The Fish-N-Fool knot is a modified Uni and has been tested against all the other top knots on the TV show "Knot Wars". It won the line to lure class and still is today the strongest line to lure knot ever tested for braid or mono. IT beat the Palomar, the Trilene, the San Diego Jam and Burkley braid knots and many others in a head to head show down. It beat the Palomar by over 3 lbs using the same line Trilene 15lb. mono testing at an amazing 20.54 lbs. and by over 2 lbs. with Burkley Fireline 14lb. testing at 19.44 pounds. The Fish-N-Fool is the only knot they ever tested that gave 100% strength in all line types. The Fish-N-Fool knot is listed in Netknots, but the best place to learn to tie it is from the guy that created the knot and if you hadn't already guess it, that's me. Backwoods Raised can’t beat a Palomar for braid, double uni for flouro, and a modified Albright as a leader connection knot

Only issue I find with the palomar is you cant use it for every lure efficiently. This knot would work best with these lures.
