I use the GX80 at the moment and have images published and sold using Sigma art prime lenses. Your video just enforces my own view that the enhancement Vs cost to upgrade did not justify the outlay, for me anyway. I'll keep my setup for now

Nice to see photograph comparisons involving the GH5S, even if it's more of a studio/controlled kind of setup, and a recommendation that isn't just "only use it if you're into video". ^_^

@@ofmetalphilosophy4837 ya the GX9s are nice but they are much harder to find at a low price. Most sell around $500-600. Which is still a great price but nearly double a GX85.

    To each his own.
Gx80 at 03:20 looks the best out of the three and when there is purple color cast on g9 and gh5s, the gx80 did not.
Hmmm im starting to like this small camera considering the price.

Brilliant video! I'm also sticking with my G85 which I believe has same sensor as GX80. I have a video all about the G9 from when I interviewed a rep at Panasonic HQ! I was very tempted to upgrade to G9 but not yet as I like smaller form factor. Great work!

I have both, the GX80 and the G85. Image quality is the same on both cameras, but the shutter sounds a bit louder and sharper on the GX80 compared to G85. The GX80 also doesn't have the electronic front curtain shutter.
Even the GX800 has the same 16mp sensor (have one at home but want to sell it because of the GX80). The GX800 doesn't have a fully mechanical shutter, only the option between electronic and electronic front curtain and the electronic front curtain only goes to 1/500 compared to 1/2000 on the G85.

Hi thanks for all the information vids, think I got a bargain when I needed small hand held 4k vid camera.
To take on holiday to Asia ( been going for 10 years) instead of my fantastic 80 d and a big bag of lenses etc.
Yep Gx80 !! What a bit of kit!! One hand held camera that cost me £390.00 kit lens
It seems to compare VERY well against cameras twice the price many thanks again keep them coming.

I have noticed GX 80 provides 10 bit 422 output to Ninja V. I know. In LUMIX website stays only 8 bit, but Resolve metadata shows 10 bit files in ProPes 422.

@@kalleankaa7536 I guess so. No in 422 because it's only output format. I think you can make backup with internal memory at the same time. Not sure if you need it, but if you a preper type of individual that you can try.

Thanks for yet another excellent video. I have a general question concerning camera models with the evf on the side, like the Panasonic GX80 and Sony 6000 series. Last year I nearly bought the Panasonic TZ-100 when looking for a small camera. It has a rather small evf and it was poking in my eye when focusing, so I did not buy it. What is you experience with these, somewhat larger camera's, when using the evf instead of the LCD?

I'm sorry but you're not fair to GH5s here. Its native low ISO is 400 and not 200, unlike the other two. Actually, GH5s has better dynamic range at ISO400 than ISO200.

I think my GH85 needs more respect, the kit lens is very good, even compared to the 12-35 2.8. The GX-8 works fine on stills with the e-shutter. I think I will wait for GH5S to come down in price. My volunteer work is well served with HD video from either camera. I break out my Nikon 810 for group shots of large numbers. As I am 70, I sometimes need a tripod to hold up the Nikon. That is why my wife had me go Micro 4/3 for trips.

I got a G9 about a month ago now-- actually, exactly one month ago today-- and while I haven't used the camera as much as I should've since work has been slow, my bullshitting with it around town has been extremely good. I had a ton of expensive Pany glass already, so I wasn't starting out from the bottom. I had 2 GH4's before the G9, and it's just such a wild upgrade in terms of overall photography, to my eye. That being said, I've barely recorded any video with it, and I'm not in any rush to do so.

Hi Adam. You wrote this 7 months ago. Have you had time to get to know your G9 and compare it to your GH4? I shoot real estate stills and occasional real estate video with my GH4 and I get great results, but am considering getting a G9 to see if it can produce a better image under identical conditions. Just wondering if you can tell a difference between the two cameras.

The GH5S is a specialized video oriented camera that shouldn't really be compared with stills cameras. GH5S video is way better than the GX80 and is is one of few current cameras that shoots 4k without a crop. Even Panasonic's Netflix-approved S1H shoots 4k with a crop. The GH5S video quality is higher than the Sony A7III, more versatile and with much stronger codecs than the video oriented A7S II.

smalltalk.productions ive seen a d750 vs g9 comparisons, and in terms of dynamic range, the d750 is only slightly better
of course, noise looks much cleaner on the nikon, but honestly, who shoots alot above iso 3200 or 6400
the d750 has better iq than the d7200, so the g9 and d7200 might performe the same

12-35mm I or II f2.8 , 35-100mm I or II f2.8 by far the sharpest and best lenses I've used on my gx85 . Recently bought another 42.5mm f1.7 , amazing lens too. But bare in mind , first two can be pricey. But they worth to invest extra money into good quality glass , you can always keep them and just upgrade the body in the future if needed.

I want to get a 4k Camera to shoot 24fps for my youtube channel/ Close up review videos/ Vlogs and some skating content. I have watched alot of material but can`t really find too much that justifies buying a 1600 USD G9 to me compared picking up a new 2 year old GX85 model for half the price. Given with the youtube compression even on 4K, do you guys recommend the G9 over the GX85 for 4K filming? Yes the camera has some great features for stills but i need a 4K 24fps camera and the latest firmware seemed to fix a lot of the auto focus issue.

    • @Camerahoarders
      @Camerahoarders  6 лет назад

If auto focus in video is important, any Canon with dual pixel is the best choice, followed by Sony A6300/6500. GX85 is sometimes very slow to focus during video. G9 and Gh5s focus better than GX85, but there is no single Panasonic that focuses better than Canon or those two Sonys.
