    I have owned all of these and the bridge cameras FZ1000 and FZ2000. For me the G9 has the edge especially for video.

    great video comparison! the cheaper GX80 & G7 are just as good as the more expensive models . Been shooting with the gx80 for about 3 years now and take it with me more frequently than my expensive (and heavier) GH5

      Thanks! Yes it's amazing what quality you get out of cheaper cameras today.

    I've owned all three plus the gx85. I only do video in 4k with my cameras and I really can't distinguish the difference. For photography I love the quality of the g9 and gx85

    • @TeaJayPhotography
      @TeaJayPhotography  3 года назад

      Yes, 4k is good on all Panasonic MFT cameras since... well, since some years now.

    These make sense, I find iso 1600 to 2000 good enough for my g85. Push it to 3200 if I don't have an option but the 1080p on my g85 is alright but I wish it was better.

    • @TeaJayPhotography
      @TeaJayPhotography  3 года назад

      I always hesitated to use anything higher than ISO 1600 on the G7 and GX80 and my tests now showed, I was right.

    excellent video! I have the same 12-34 f2.8 lens with a G7 and I was worried that the lens was a waste of money, but it turns out it is because the sharpness on the G7 for stills is just not that good lol

      It's been a while ago but If I remember correctly it was the G9. Although the 4k image quality of the other two cameras is also good.

    Thank you for this comparison. I own the gx80 and couldn't be happier, except for the shitty autofocus, but the manual touch screen focus compensate that. Also the ibis is just incredible. In my opinion, best value for money in cameras world, at least for an amateur.

    if you have g7 and you are planning to upgrade to g9 - then the last thing you should look is sharpness cause there is no much improvements. However stabilization, weather seal and many other things are the thing you will really love on g9

    • @TeaJayPhotography
      @TeaJayPhotography  3 года назад

      Well, in FullHD there is a huge difference in sharpness between the two. But you are right, the features and handling of the G9 are on another level.

      @@TeaJayPhotography i know what you mean but people tend to think that buying g9 and having 4mpx more will hugely improve the image quality. It certainly won't give any significant improvement that is visible on instagram...

      @@mbr9106 no problems i've done the upgrade myself and as honest as i can be it was certainly worth it, but mainly cause i am doing videos. If it was just photo i would probably never change it.

    I've seen a lot of comparsion between G80 and G9 and if it comes to video quality, I think the G9 benefits from better in camera noise reduction. Trun off NR in G80 and then look how good and comparable is video quality according to G9.

    • @TeaJayPhotography
      @TeaJayPhotography  3 года назад

      Yes, it's often better to reduce sharpness and noise reduction in camera for video. Looks cleaner and NR can be done in post more precisely. As stated in the video in 4k they are comparable, but in FullHD the 20mbps is no match for the 100mbps of the G9.

    Any chance you can show us samples at max bit rate vs lowest bit rate in 4k for g9?

    • @TeaJayPhotography
      @TeaJayPhotography  3 года назад +1

      RUclips only has 45mbps codec for 4k so you won't see a difference. But the difference from 100 to 150mbps is only for 10 bit color that needs more data or compensate for higher frame rates in 50 and 60 fps which also needs more data to maintain quality.

    What about the newer GX9 (not G9) in comparison to GX80?

    • @TeaJayPhotography
      @TeaJayPhotography  3 года назад

      Since the GX9 has the 20mp sensor of the G9, performance in stills should be similar to the G9. But the GX9 lacks the 10bit video codecs and slow motion. Video quality should be more like GX80.

    I hope you turned noise reduction and sharpness for all cameras.
    Panasonic g7 internal noise reduction is aweful and same as edge detection contrast based sharpening.
    Its night and day when you shoot in low light even in daylight!

      @@TeaJayPhotography Ok thanks, but still there is a lot of detail lost between -5 and -3. I don't own g7. But graded and edited a lot footage of from that camera. I tested and pushed 0 to -5 nr and sharpness and there was so much detail in shadows on -5

    • @TeaJayPhotography
      @TeaJayPhotography  3 года назад

      I just retested this on the G7 with neutral vs -5 on Sarpen and NR and even zoomed in to 200% there is almost no visible difference. I also applied my usual NR/Sharpen in DaVinci Resolve and again the final clips are indistinguishable.
