- We all know the tallest roller coasters in the world. The classic Kingda Ka is the undisputed champion at Six Flags Great Adventure. Followed by the original strata coaster and the well-praised Giga coasters. However, for this video, I want to answer a question many of you probably weren't asking. Being, what are the highest roller coasters in the world by elevation? By this, I mean roller coasters are higher in sea level compared to height. So in pursuit of this, I had to look at obscure mountain amusement parks and resorts to find these coasters. With this, I found many rides that tower in the sky. So to find out which roller coaster truely dwarfs the world. Tune in and watch the Great American countdown.

Despite starting as a joke, this is actually one of your best videos. Instead of chasing the same coasters that everyone else does, you ended up looking at a lot more obscure roller coasters from overlooked parks, and that's always a good thing.
gotta say, mad respect for even trying to research this topic
for sure
The disclaimer of "this is such a dumb video idea, why am I wasting my time with this?" is so painfully, hilariously relatable...
Its like meta humor, you know being self aware
This channel is underated
9:33 It's pronounced "PER-guh-tory"
Been on the mountain coaster at SnowBird, and the height you listed is fairly accurate.
Despite this being a video that you never intended to make, it ended up being one of your best videos ever!
Ah yes, Samsung Mobile Phones, my favourite Ferris wheel in the world
i've been waiting for this video
Awesome idea
excellent video and yeah tons of very hard work...
its basically a parking lot coaster in Colombia which to them is a huge deal for us its like oh just another county fair
Awesome idea ❤🥰👍🥰
I only know this from having done some recent research on all the coasters in the Northeast US, but Cliffside Coaster at Mount Van Hoevenburg in Lake Placid, NY is actually the longest mountain coaster in North America (Listed as 7600ft on RCDB). It only just opened up last year and it's a random mountain coaster, so I can understand how you could miss a thing like that.
Also just great video overall, really enjoyed this concept despite the pain you went through to research this.
Super interesting video. Searching these must have been ridiculously time consuming. Might I add another contender? There is a small looping coaster in Vulqano park in Quito. It is not far from the station of the teleferico, which is 3.117 m. Now the coaster itself stand a bit lower than the station, I would guess at 3000 more or less. It is very hard to say.
Loved the video.
Glenwood caverns is my home park and I’ve been on the Vail mountain coaster, The Glenwood caverns Mountain coaster is good as well
Very cool topic, Ocean Park in Hong Kong would’ve been a good one! 🥃
La Feria Chapultepec officially closed for good a while ago, they are tearing it down and building another park on top of it iirc.
Great video btw
Commenting for your algorithm
i've been missing the top 10 videos
I think it’d be really interesting to see a video on the best coasters sitting SBNO
The conversion from feet to meters is appreciated :) 👍
Such a goal of mine to get to Glenwoods Cavern one day!
Thanks for doing all this research! It amazing you could get this much info. Not to try and continue to stack the table for my home state but wouldn't Rocky Mountain Coaster at Copper Mountain be on the list. The base elevation is around 9700 feet and then the alpine coast goes up from there, RCDB says it goes 400ft up in elevation change.
yeah i know, someone already commented on this. I cant believe this slipped pass me.
@@GreatAmericanCoaster it's all good the research on this, like you said, was crazy. Thanks for putting it together
Mineshaft mountain coaster at big bear CA is over 7k feet
So you're going to hate me because I'm giving you another mountain coaster in Colorado... Goldrunner at Breckenridge Ski resort. The base elevation of Breckenridge is 9600 feet so I wouldn't be surprised if the coaster gets up to around 10,000...
well, that's why I said the list was 75-85% accurate. There is always something that slips through the cracks
@@GreatAmericanCoaster oh its a great video. I just had to give you another Colorado mountain coaster because you seemed so irritated by them. 😉
can you please upload more often
why is cannibal on the thumbnail lmfao
now shortest coasters by elevation
10:39 ** guns starts playing **
Holy actually frick. I can't imagine in.a million years how long and hard it must of been to do this. I bet it was pretty time consuming?
video idea: longest coasters in the world by duration
What elevation was Ocean Park in Hong Kong?
