Hey Jimmy I'm a retired police officer. Although I'm not an aviator I have always wanted to be one. I watch your channel frequently and have learned a lot about aircraft maintenance. I find your patience, positive attitude and demeanor intertaining. Thank you .
all I can say: I really admire your emphatic, professionalism work
thank you... those are dangerous words! lol
Hi jimmy,I was an A and C engineer with a piper agent for some years in Scotland, have built a piper tomohawk up straight out of the shipping crate, that was fun!
As an avionics technician I really hope youre going to clean up that wiring behind the panel! Also, not sure if you noticed in the installation manual for the EDM, JPI specifically notes that the star washer is to go in between the two ring terminals, not under the head of the screw like traditional. Also, its always good when you're tieing up the harness for all of the EGT and CHT's, put a little loop in the thermocouple wire at the probe, this gives a bit of a service loop/slack and prevents the probe wiring being under any tension.
Thanks for the info. Yes, all good points. And yes, the spaghetti will get lots of zip ties to look all purdy...
Learning lots here!
Considering 1 G5, 1 AV 20, 1 AV 30 and a JPI 830 and an Ipad mini panel mount. Will be a great, "affordable" start for our mission.
Jimmy...you are a bloody trip! Keep up the informative and very entertaining videos!!
Nice! I would caution against mixing, each one operates differently and that’s more learning and higher confusion and work load. Also, if it’s a certified then that’s a whole other mess with integration.
My philosophy is keep it simple. Less but better.
Man, that Mountain Dew really picks you up and makes you go into hyper speed mode! I can't imagine why they wouldn't sponsor this channel!
it'll tickle your innards!
Not a hint of frustration. Great attitude!
Thanks! The world is so frustrating right now, this is a therapeutic outlet.
Awesome video Jimmy.
Coming along nicely.
80% done, 80% to go!
you picked the right music for the time laps
I like that it shows people it's not "that" hard to do airplane maintenance. It's not voodoo, it's just a bit "left field".
Keep it up!
Thanks! totally agree. It's a flying washing machine....
@@therealjimmysworld Yeah, a flying washing machined but you just don't it to go into the fast spin cycle while flying it!
hahahahaha
I love your channel. I know you are now using time-lapse video. I really don'tike it. I like to watch your work.
keep doing this videos, they are really interesting, Thumbs up
Cool 😎 stuff 😎 Jimmy
Thank you for the video.
Love watching awsome
Jimmmy must know he he’s doing.
Engine monitor install...always up for some hot CHT on EGT action!
hahaha, the un sensored version!
Sự thể hiện của bạn rất ý nghĩa hay lắm, cảm ơn video chia sẻ của bạn chúc bạn sức khỏe và hạnh phúc.
Always remove electronics directly below and to the side of wherever you are drilling. Shavings will get in and short out electronics as soon as you flip the switch.
yes...as I was doing it, I was thinking to myself, "self...you should have taken those out...."
The time lapse is like watching Buster Keaton in a silent movie.
hahaha
I am so close to purchasing a plane its not even funny.. I love your content! Keep up the laughs, and the great work!
do it! we can split the cost of the bankruptcy attorney.... I found one on a billboard...
@@therealjimmysworld haha billboard attorney’s are to highbrow for us! I’m thinking the ones who use wooden light posts to staple their ‘brochure’ to will be more effective lol
@@TheSocialGamingSG The guys who advertise on buses and street benches are the best. Go with them.
hahahahaha
or the black sharpie yellow sign on the corner?
Do the Dew !
Its always harder to find the second hole Jimmy ,even in Australia and we are upside down !
Shweet
Jimmy, if the switch/connector can fit through the existing hole without the grommet then run the switch/connector through the hole. Then cut a slit in the grommet for the harness and reinstall the grommet in the hole. No need to drill another hole if you don’t need to.
It wouldn't fit :( that's why I pulled the grommet, also, I don't like splitting grommets if I have the choice. That little split always seems to find it's way to the very spot I'm trying to protect...
@@therealjimmysworld those 3 pins on the RPM sensor come out really easy. Just remove the pins from the plug, put it through the holes, and reinstall the pins into the plug once through the firewall. Just had do this exact thing in my Maule.
That would have been easier... lol
Hope you got some strawberries from that area of FL
Hey Jimmy, I am over at the Winter Haven airport (KGIF) doing just about the same thing you are doing on a Piper Arrow. I am doing a complete panel upgrade that also includes the JPI 900. I am there every weekend all day long, come on over, see the project and let's have lunch.
That's awesome! Are you using the fast stack stuff? I might have to take you up on that!
@@therealjimmysworld I did have Tim make my entire harness but I am not using the hub.
interesting... I didn't know he did that! Are you in Eagles Landing? I'm looking for a home with hanger/pool at an airpark.
@@therealjimmysworld , no, I wish I did. I am actively looking for the same thing.
Next time I get over there, I'll connect with you. also, you might want to delete your email from the comment, might get picked up by some spammers :/
That would have been a great place for the rear view mirror.
I’m keen to know what you do, and or did, for a living before you took up aeronautical engineering? Can you share that with us?
a back up camera!!
Thanks for asking, I've owned a couple businesses and coach other business owners to scale their companies. Sold my last company in 2019 and have been temporarily retired since... basically having a full on midlife crisis since! hahahaha
My background is in mechanics and I have a degree in electro-mechanical engineering... finally! I get to use my education!! hahahahaha
Groovy
Right arm and farm out....damn hippies ;}>
bust out the funk!
hahahaha, seriously! hahahaha
Jimmy, I really like your videos. Just wondering if you are certified aircraft mechanic or maybe you could explain to us what an owner can do himself and what requires a license to do.
He talked about the inspector that he’s working with to sign off the work.
Can’t stop dancing!
nice! boogie down!
Jimmy!
Jimmy!
I bought an airplane that had not been in annual in 26 years. It's an Aeronca Champ and nowhere near your Cherokee Six in terms of complexity--but it still has me thinking that I should have had my head examined.
hahaha, we should start a support group... airplanes anonymous
@@therealjimmysworld I'm pretty sure there's more than a few of us out there...
I'm starting to think you're right!
Since its been a year now, what's your experience with the edm and the fuel saving in hindsight?
So how many hours have you put into the plane so far? Are you keeping track to try and get your A&P? I never see an A&P advising you on where to connect or disconnect lines, wires, etc., or how to run lines, wires, etc. Do they come watch you from time to time?
Remind us occasionally what bird you’re working on plz.
G,day Jimmy from Sydney, Australia.
* the plane is looking great.
* I notice thee FAA has a long waiting time for processing their forms: rego/airworthy
* new plexiglass or cleaned
* like to have a closer look at the propeller: if it has nicks/scratched.
* fues light fault panel (what about a light touch main switch to indicate circulate current).
Is the soft drink Mountain Dew (Jew)?
🌏🇭🇲🚴♂️
Thanks! yeah... FAA is taking months....and months.... to do anything!
windows were replaced before I got it. Prop only has 10hrs, no nicks
- no idea what you're talking about with the fuse lights
and yes, the fizzy drink is called Mountain Dew...not sold in most other countries.... I wonder why.... ;)
do you solider and shrink tube your wires /
Hey Jim I am swoping my JPI 700 for the 830 plug and play??
I am adding MP and RPm probs .
do you know if the 700 would have been grounded to the engine as the 830 cautions this must be done .
Or do I have trace pin 25 from P1 to find out?
Mountain Dew = Nectar of the Gods
No duw for me too sweet!
BTW LOVE YOUR VIDIEOS!
Spray paint it too, same color as rest of instruments. Tidy the wiring behind the panel.
That's leaving us wired for more.
Please have the music lower in volume compared to your voice... otherwise nice vid again..
Are you allowed to do all this and the maintenance by yourself in the US?
I answer that in this video: ruclips.net/video/8M42B379apE/видео.html
Before the maiden voyage, contact Dan at the Probable Cause channel. He needs more content. And please tell us you aren't paying for that music.
I've always wanted to be profiled on another channel!....
@@therealjimmysworld Just tell him that you were the right seater in the 3RB crash.
hahaha
I think we should nick-name Jimmy "Spaghetti Man" because he likes playing in the wire spaghetti! Maybe narrate with an Italian acsentah!
that's a spicy meat a ball!!
Putting on the Ritz, French version.
you have too much time on your hands... lol
@@therealjimmysworldtoo true! Recently retired so I can focus on quality content. Hope your next project goes as well as this one!
Congrats on the retirement! I've learned so much with this project, I think the next one will go even smoother! and I'm not sure about "quality content", you may have to look somewhere else for that! lol
The porn tunes in the first segment was a nice add. Not sure about the carnival music in the second segment.
What's the update on the guy who failed the eddy current test on his PA28 wing spar?
hahahaha, I should have walked in dressed as a plumber....
the failed PA32 guy bought a used wing. I'll put an update on that in the next video. so far $9500 before install.....ouch
@@therealjimmysworld The FAA were estimating $24K for repairs if the eddy current test failed. He's getting off cheap.
that's his bill so far, it's not put on yet... We're estimating $20k
Shop priority list:
1. Music
2. Drink
3. Safety PPE
Mountain Dew...the worse.... Dr, Pepper... now there's a Shop Drink !
That video was really great, much more enjoyable without all the BS you normally through in. I understand you are trying to make it a bit more fun to watch, how ever unless you're 8 to 12 years of age, or from down south it's not really that funny. I also think if you spent less time being an ass, you wouldn't make so many stuff ups. Also pleas note.. unless they have started making aircraft electrical systems Positive to ground, you should NEVER attempt to undo the Positive first as you mentioned in an earlier video..
Please keep up the great job you are doing as it is truly a great thing you are doing bring life back to an older aircraft. I actually have around 75 Hrs PNC in this type myself...
Best wishes from down under, Vernon...
Im in the high voltage switch gear industry and looking at all those wires in the back of the panel made my stomach turn. If we did wiring like that none of our equipment would pass inspection. I hope the reason is that you are not done with the wires in the back.
What's going to happen with the Chrokee 6
I'm 70 years old is it too late?
Jimmy. I'm amazed you don't get in a pickle with all those wires. How do you not get muddled? ----I've just seen that you have a degree in electro-mechanical engineering. Could you do what you're doing without that training?
Thanks for the comment. If you can setup a tv with a stereo system, you could do this.

Second batch of music was good! I turned the volume OFF on the rest.
:)
If installing the wires causes a gigantic pain in the butt, you are trying to install them in the wrong hole!
Did I actually see you reading instructions? And labelling your wires??? You call yourself a man!??!?!?!
I'm ashamed..... I should have edited that part out! hahahahaha
Mountain Dew is not good for you.
I prefer Morning Dew. -GD-
It is so good! All the preservatives I should live to be 120 easy!
whoa! we just went way back!!!
Well that's not why people drink it!
Drop some vodka in😊
