Yes please on Snell! We need a lefty ace!
They just gave one of those away with Chris Sale. Lol
But why a guy who is 32, injury prone, and has only thrown 180 innings twice over Max Fried??? Max please
@@brandondillman5841 they had no choice dude what are you talking about? Chris was cursed here every damn year and he was getting injured and as soon as he leaves, he has one of his best years ever. What do you expect the Red Sox to do? I didn’t blame them for trading him away.
@@youtubeconnollyfamily sounds like they need to invest in a better training staff. Sale credited the Braves training staff for keeping him healthy and ready to go all season.
@@brandondillman5841Two of his injuries were freak accidents, falling on a bike and hit with a come backer in NY. Do your research. He also beat up a TV which could have hurt him.
A 2-time Cy Young award winner! Sign me up.
Talking about the current starting pitchers FA market, we all have our favorite. But to land (at least) 1 signing we have to show serious interest and that’s exactly what the Sox are doing here. I certainly wouldn’t be disappointed if we end up with Snell.
Although i suspect some of them would prefer playing on the west coast, the Sox seems serious this time (i know-I know….lol)
Thanks Corbin, i appreciate you working hard to keep baseball in our mind.
You know I agree I think this is showing really intent. Let’s see where it goes
Not sure I'm excited about Snell. He did turn his season around last year BUT he has a history of one good season, one bad. I'd rather go hard after Freid and pursue a Crochet trade....but if we do sign Snell, I won't be mad.....great breakdown Corbin as always....
He does but he’s been consistent good for 3 years in a row now
@@redseatradio consistency doesn’t matter when he didn’t even make 25 starts in 2 of the last 3 seasons. Plus, he was terrible in the first half last year. Almost 32 years old… I’m honestly good on him.
You said it best. Only threw over 130 innings twice in his career. NOW, tell me why we got rid of the workhorse Sale???????
3-4 yrs for Snell at 32-34m yes please!
I would be really happy if they signed Snell. I think they should get one more starter to go with him but he has the potential to be dominant.
Yeah they probably would need someone to go with him
Guy is completely healthy right now and started going further into his starts. Walks being down = less pitches and deeper starts.
How? He only threw 100 innings last season...
@drzalejandro7 How what?
@drzalejandro7 He missed time last year hurting his groin and the giants over rushed him back and re injured it. Was perfect after return. No d.l. stints for arm since 2022
@atgn70 availability is availability. Like the man said, he's only pitched 130> innings 2x in his career.
The biggest headline in Snell meeting with the Sox is the fact that he's clearly dropped his west coast ONLY stance on signing with a new team. This is huge!
Always liked him.Great competitor!
Pitched in the AL East with Tampa.... Fastball has to be 97-98 for him to dominate... Burnes!!! Bulldog Ace the Sox need! Just concerned about his velocity you mention... Would like the Sox to sign their own first!!! Houck, Duran... Lock those two guys up!!!... Home Grown Red Sox Players....! 2025 is going to be GREAT!
Honestly look at what Burnes needs and what snell needs to dominate and snell has a better track record right now for that to continue
Burnes fastball velo was the highest of his career in 2024 at 95.5 mph. The concerning part is his strike out rate. Hes decided to be more of a pitch to contact guy to try to go deep into games, which limits his upside as an ace.
Corbin did you hear what papi said yesterday about Soto? We might be in a very good position to close that deal
If the Sox offer him the most money they’ll get him. Nothing else matters to Soto. He said he wants to be the highest paid player in baseball history.
Idk it certainly helps having papi in the fold. But still a long way from close to a deal
With Papi, Pedro, and Devers pushing for Soto, I like our chances.
@@ErikHeimdallr are they helping deliver the $700 mil to Soto? If not idk how much it really matters. Lol
@@brandondillman5841 idk bro I feel like 650-700M might get Soto to sign. If the Sox are seriously getting in the mix surely they should know by now he's not going to be cheap at all. Though I don't want to fall for it just yet, I'm starting to like our chances!
Grabbing snell, burnes, or fried, is a huge W. I’d be happy with any of them, but snell is a seasoned starter, and the Sox need more swing and miss. I’d love to have him
Yeah I think I’d be happy with all 3
Seasoned starter when he hasn't even pitched a whole season in his career more than twice? 😂
@ he’s a 2 time cy young winner. What have you done?
@@cleebbb as a Sox fan, I don't trust him. Rick Porcello won a Cy Young too and he was highly mediocre
I've been anti-Snell for a while because of that inconsistency especially last year when he was looking for 8 years but if he's looking for a 3-4 years for a decent deal then I'm ok with it. I still think Fried is the better pitcher but if we miss on Fried then I'd be ok with Snell on the right deal.
Yes a comparison video is great idea👍
In order, I'd prefer Fried, Snell, Burnes when weighing up the upside against dollars and years. Let's compare!!! Bring on a 'which ace do you prefer' video!
As both a Red Sox and Padres fan I hope somehow Snell goes back to SD and we get one of the other two, maybe both even.
I’m really freaking hope. I didn’t go to one game last year with my kids and I usually spend like $1500 and one season going to Fenway Park buying food buying tickets all that stuff. I didn’t spend one dollar because I was so mad at what the ownership has done, we had a good team last season they could have contended. Owners didn’t care about putting good pieces in though and helping. So pissed off man.
I still can’t figure out why we let Sale go. I’m not the biggest Snell fan, but I would still support him if he came to Boston
Thanks Corbin
Blake Snell is a stud #1 pitcher, but the low innings/injury history over several seasons scares me a bit as well. The Red Sox need a dependable anchor who will give them 6-7 quality innings every 5th game. So, I prefer Corbin Burnes. With Burnes you can pretty much pencil-in close to 200 innings/30 starts. He had a 2.92 ERA last season with Baltimore, and a career 2.33 post season ERA.
The problem with snell is he only pitched 150+ innings twice and we want more for our ace plus he’s 32 years old. I’d rather a guy like fried
I think I would too. BUT a shorter term deal and some really solid bullpen additions it could be fun
RS are a professional "interested in" team. Theyve shown ZERO interest in spending $ and ownership isnt dedicated to this team. The constant lipservice we the fans get is tragic. Spending only on has-beens and resurrection projects (Hill, Paxton, Giolito, & Hendricks to name a few).
If they wanted to spend $600m they wouldve kept Mookoe so Soto is NOT happening.
All that said. If ownership finally does open up a bit Snell, Burnes, or Fried and a trade for Crochet would be huge and a massive step in the right direction for the team and the fans.
He'd better be fit and be careful. Not gonna lie, carrying Sale for a few years and watching him get injured if he played more than 3 innings for the Red Sox and then get traded and win a Cy Young - kinda burns.
Yeah I think it does for the Sox
@@ayyubvernon1557 he went to a team that already had 2 Aces. Strider and Fried. Atlanta wanted another starter with post season experience. He was never supposed to pitch as much as he ended up pitching. That’s why the wheels came off for him before they even got to the playoffs , rendering Sale unavailable. Atlanta made that deal for him to be a #4-5. He ended up being thrust back into Staff Ace, once Strider went down for the year early on. Fried got hurt and missed a ton of time too. Reynaldo Lopez and Sale carried that team the first half. Acuna Jr out for the season a few weeks in, Riley, Olson both had mediocre seasons by their standards. Sale pitched more than he should’ve. That sucks for him. I’m happy he at least won another Cy Young.
Great review Corbin. Were I G.M. I think I would keep a contract for Snell to the shorter side. He turns 32 in December. He is definitely a good pitcher for sure. I think I would look at the 3 big choices but I am with you on this one. I would really rather have Fried. With Snell a 3-4 year deal would be about as far as I would want to venture out. I just have this nagging feeling about his longevity. All that being said I won't be giving him back if he lands on our doorstep for Thanksgiving. :). Joe
Yeah I think we are on the same page
4 yrs with option. 28.5 per, he can opt out after two.
Yeah I think that would be a fair deal not sure I’d do after two tho unless you can lock up a crochet or similar. You’d end up in the same spot in 2027
It’s Scott Boras I think.
Id say forget Soto and go after Snell and Burnes / Fried. Imagine that lineup with Houck and Bello.
Why not Fried and Soto
Would love to see them sign two starting pitchers like those guys.
Great updates. I am sure that you also are just wanting to have some real trades or signings to talk about.
Today is the non-tender deadline. May see some roster shifts (small trades, DFAs)…
Yeah unfortunately that means next to nothing for Boston. They aren’t non tendering Houck, Duran or Crawford
@ pretty sure those guys are safe. I expect those three are safe. It is the pre-arb guys. We might see a non-tender of Bailey Horn, Chase Shugart, Mickey Gasper to open up space on the 40 man for some FA acquisitions.
By the way, two Cy Young’s. One in each league. Stop overthinking this. Let’s go!
Question: Can the Sox afford both Snell and Soto? If So, do you think they should trade for Guerrero? Great Show, Corbin.
Shouldn't have let Sale go, but who would have thought he would have an amazing season after the past couple years in Boston.
Snell would be a great addition but they need way more hitting and pitching to really compete
He was healthy and looked like his old self during the off-season. They clearly screwed that up royally
All the top starters have major ? Marks that’s why I think the best route for Sox is to trade Casas to Sea for one of their young pitchers
I'm 3/105 which should blow other teams aav offers out of the water. This deal helps snell re enter fa collecting more$$ on the front end. Again, hes dully healthy. 3 years isnt a franchise killing deal.
Snell would be good if the Sox limit the number of years or put in incentives after 3 years with Innings and games pitched. For the money he is going to command, you need to safeguard yourself down the line or end up with a Sale type situation (While with Sox not including this year). I would much rather have the Sox trade for top end pitching that is younger since they have the prospects now to do so, and sign FA that are like Soto and Hernandez. It makes more sense to trade for a Crochett and one of Seattle's youngsters (Kirby) and then you spend on Soto and if you can get rid of Masa you can also get Hernandez. to have one of those bats DH and the other in the OF this could free you up to have an OF of Anthony, Duran and one of the two above batters, then have the infield of Devers, Rafaella, Story and Casa on the infield. You would be using Abreu and Campbell as trade chips for the young pitchers, have cost control and not have to worry about the issues of the top 3 FA pitchers. Hit hit most of the points on the negative side for Snell even though he does have almost as many positive ones. Age and injury/Innings pitched is what would make him more of a no for me. One last question on him. Did he pitch better in NL vs AL and what were his stats at Fenway vs the rest of baseball. Those would also add into the mix.
I would love to see the Sox sign a FA such as Snell and then trade for a pitcher like Gilbert or Kirby both of which has a number of arbitration years upcoming. Combine that with Houck, Bello and Giolito and the rotation is all set. Criswell, Fitts, Winckowski and Priester can provide backup when there’s an injury. Snell for 5 years at $150M??? More? less?
I'd probably pass on a 5-6 yr deal for a 32 year old Snell. The usual reaction of fans concerning free agent spedning is, "Why not? It's not my money." But long term commitments can add up and prevent a team from re-signing their emerging young stars in their own system-- and with Casas, Abreu and the "core 4" (Anthony, Meyer, Campbell,Teel), hopefully some of them will merit pre-emptive extentsions, as the Sox have done with Bello and Raffaela. 7 years ago, before the 2018 season, the Sox already knew that Mookie Betts was a sure-thing. Their window to lock up Mookie's prime years was before his MVP season and within 2 years of FA. But they were hell-bent on spending for the "now." and built a great, albeit expensive, roster for the 2018 season. But there were consequences.
Corn Bin,,
You sound a little HOARSE today in the video today hope you can be considered “well”. With that being said, the Red Sox and we as us fans for the team make me wonder how top 10 offensive and defensive component of games can be make to sign snell from missing wild card race with disappointment of August/September baseball (total meltdown from me there, lol). Would snell be interested in talking to me about this? Fried. Soto. Bowr. I like this ability from it can it be for next year? Not on Jon Henry watch! Greg BrestLow got told to take lonnggggg trip to cancun during free agency to ensure that we finish with 60-84 wins next year (fall short of playoff. Thanks, Corbin)
Thanks!

I don’t like it. I would prefer Fried. *Snell gives me David Price vibes. Then there’s the on again (one season) off again (the next) that you mentioned. I think it’s a lot of money and term for a 33 year old who’s had durability/stamina issues. He played in Tampa Bay who are very analytically driven.
Maybe he the #’s show that he gets slaughtered after 75-80 pitches. 🤷🏻♂️You did mention he was going further into games last season. But how sustainable is that when you’re on the wrong side of 30 ?
1. It would be 32 2. I did mention that but I also mentioned that he’s been very good consistently for the last 3 years
100 per cent agree with DSu. Sox can'y go more tham 5 + IN in general will tax Sox bulllpen by Memorial Day 2025. It's Fried all the way for me & Jewish born Red Sox fans in Brookline and beyond (:
Hi Corbin, long time I don’t see any video come from you?
Nope been posting a video everyday but Sunday for 2 years now
I'd certainly be ok with Snell however I would prefer Fried because I think he would provide more innings than Snell. The major point they most definitely need to bring in an ace this off season.
Yeah if it ends up about the same contract wise I think I take the innings too
Snell is Shear Nasty when on he's tall and when he comes over the top the ball is hard to pick up. And 2Cy. Young's.
Let's see if he'll take a one or two year deal. I'll be shocked if they offer anything more
Injury history scares me
He's the hardest to hit f/a out there. Walks are down. Arm has been fully healthy in recent years. And Importantly,he will likely sign for 3-4 years max. He was rushed this year and hurt his groin. When healthy was best pitcher in baseball. Land Snell and Crochet and we are in business. Add Sasaki to that and look out,we are back!
Okay issue is if you get snell not sure you trade for crochet. 2 of your 5 guys having major injury history may not fly especially for what you have to give up for him
@redseatradio I agree with that, but considering Snells arm has been fine for a bit,I'll take that chance. Giolito's arm was fine too. Valid point though.
Starting to sound like a typical day in the office - 10 meetings -No progress
Free Agents do this for all teams....think positive....it's early in the off season....at least the Red Sox are actively ingaging in talks .....
Also this is only the 2nd meeting the Sox have had
I didn’t see the fit last offseason. Felt like he wanted to be on the west coast. Wasn’t willing to get to the tax and pay a QO FA who only threw 2 seasons over 130 IP. I know he only threw 104 last year but it felt different. Having 2 seasons back to back where you go on long stretches from mid season until the end and absolutely dominate feels like it’s worth taking a gamble on. He could absolutely bust out and his injury history/personality could not mesh well with Red Sox fans but he also could be just what they need. They have some innings eaters in the rotation now so he’s not going to necessarily be asked to give you 7. Also, if the goal is the postseason no starter really goes more than 5 innings anyway and he’ll give you 5 good ones. He could be the type of high upside starter we’ll need to pair with the solid ones we currently have.
I also think 6 year deal would be insane. If you could get him for 4/140 that’s kind of ideal.
Yeah you could make it even 3 season ms in a row now he has looked good.
Sign Soto and show the fans they really care because the last five years they’ve been cheap
Then they can trade some rookies for crochet maybe Max Fried glad you would be awesome too, but I can’t get too greedy. They need to sign someone that everybody else wants and not just the leftovers.
Hate to sound like a broken record all the concerns you mentioned about Snell …Burnes and Fried Is why I feel the crochet trade is a no brainer..put him at the top with Houck and see how it goes to the break then adjust if necessary..
Yeah but there are concerns with Crochet too that rival these guys as wll
@ except the money of course
Of course but the money just becomes talent in this scenario right?
@ of which we have a ton of
idk if its me but i got some questions on blake snell. durability seems to be an issue and we already have a bunch of injury prone pitchers. attitude seems to be a question too. i heard that he was bad with the giants but once they were out of playoff contention thats when he started doing well. that just seems a little sus but thats just me. if we get him he better show up
Then you heard wrong. He was good basically from June on
@ oh ok then i dont mind taking a chance on him
Honestly, they need one front line starter and the rest relievers. Add a bat to replace Yoshida since he is out. Thats the likely outcome out of all of this
Only time will tell
I wouldn't be upset with a Snell signing, either. He sort of rubbed me the wrong way, though, in the shortened season of 2020 when he made some selfish comments during the lockout negotiations. Hopefully he's matured since then.
With Fried, the lack of "swing and miss" stuff doesn't bother me at all. He's at or near the top of the league in missing barrels, limiting hard contact, and getting ground balls. Swing and miss stuff shouldn't even be a consideration for him as long as his physical skills aren't drastically declining.
Yeah I definitely still out fried above Snell but wouldn’t hate it at all
Snell should be a back-up plan to Max Fried. Snell is solid, but having only pitched over 180 innings twice, being 32, and injury prone now I would be very careful going after him. Clearly when he is there he is a stud, but would much rather have Max Fried and Snell as a back-up for a lefty ace. Would rather get Tanner Scott than Snell honestly.
Not that I’d hate having Snell. But he’s too volatile in statistics for me to want to give him a big contract - especially since he’s almost 32 years old.
He’s only made 30 starts twice in his career (‘18 and ‘23) and has had an ERA over 4 for a season three times in his career.
Yes, he’s a two-time Cy Young and is as capable of domination as anyone in the game on any given night. But I need more consistency to give a starter over 30 the bag.
I’d rather have Fried or Burnes.
If they get a guy like Blake Snell they’d need to prioritize getting a guy like Jeff Hoffman or trading for a guy like Ryan Helsley or Devin Williams
Yeah for sure
HIT THAT THUMBS UP FOR CORBIN!
I think Bailey would maximize Snell productivity. Sign him but is his agent still Bor*as*? Thanks Corbin!
Yeah of course haha doesn’t help
I would hope Bor*as* has learned something about not holding out guys.😂
Snell is the cheapest of all top pitchers . So I can see it . Not taking away from him but I feel the Sox are more interested due to cost
Eh honestly per year wise it should be right around the same as Burnes/fried
200!
Anell×+SoAnwll+soro pleas!!!
I still don’t trust them to spend until I see it
Pay the money for Burns
I don’t want him at all. I hope they don’t waste money on him
Snell for 5 or less I DK t think would be a huge issue. You’ll always have a problem with injuries and pitchers. That’s the nature now. Even Fried had TJ surgery
I was high on him, now I don't know, we need pitchers going over 100 innings
He will probably do that; it’s really about how high over 100 he will go
Get Soto Snell Crochet would be a great off season I see Crawford as a bullpen arm, he started off pretty good early in the season but kind of fell off .
That would be a fantastic offseason
Dodgers can have him, we'll take Burnes then trade for Crochet.
How can the Dodgers even afford another top free agent? They took the best two free agents last year. They have so many other stars on their team. I don’t get it. There should be a rule for something like that. It’s so stupid. You can’t just buy every single best free agent every year because you can.
If they can then why not? At least they're trying to win
rather have Fried
I know it excites most of the fan base but count me out. To inconsistent, injuries plus only 104 IP? Burnes is the guy…
Blake Snell is always hurt. Always. The guy has had two seasons where he had to be productive to get an extension from the Rays and a new contract from SD and won the Cy Young both years. All the other years? Multiple DL trips and two TJ surgeries including multiple lat injuries that linger.
We didn’t see enough of this with Sale? We want to do this again? No thanks.
Snell isn't going to get a six year deal. Five at the most unless some team wants an overpay. I would predict 135-140 million for 5 years. Between Fried+Burns+Snell, the last one signed is going to get the worse deal. Breslow could be pressured to make a major deal regardless of the rationale.
I think he may be as well. Luckily I think there are options on the market that are big moves and actually beneficial to future plans I am hoping he can snag one at least
Spending on like Pete Alonso is my worst nightmare
Walker Buhler please 😢
I’d rather see Max Fried on the top of our roster
Snell higher ceiling Fried higher floor
Not enough starts per year. Not worth the price.
He pitched 180 innings twice. Never even close the rest of his career. Really? I don't think this is a good move
If they sign Snell because he’s the cheapest one out there that has the least amount of interest he’ll be a bum here. Trust me on this one. I don’t want them to sign him. He’s a poor excuse just like when they sign story he was the last one left he’s going they’re gonna sign a picture. That’s gonna be the cheapest I would go after or burns Snellwould be on, but if they sign him, they won’t sign anybody else you watch. He’s a bum. I’ll always be a bum. Why didn’t they sign them last year then 20 people wanted them now he’s exposed. I don’t think much of him.
What are we doing Snell is a old washed up pitcher!! JUST NO!!
Bro what? He had the best second half in baseball last year and won a cy young in 2023 what are you talking about
@ since he won 21 games he has not been that good! We need young arms… he could be a 4 or 5th starter. We need a number 1 he’s not a 1 or 2
He’s won 6,4,7,8 games he won 14 after 4 trash seasons
If they sign Snell, he’ll turn out to be a 500 pitcher He’ll be no better than Porcello or Pevetta he’ll be overpaid. I doubt anyone’s gonna give him a big contract. I smell loser.
