Dang nice build, sir. I like this option because my 200 year old house doesn't have a circuit in a usable area that will support my welder without blowing the breaker. Man, I need to figure out a way to upgrade my electrical system, but I need to jack up and level the house first. This "no welding" option will allow me to build a forge. Thanks for sharing.
have seen many variations of things using old propane tanks, and this seems SO much safet - always nice to do a project where you don't have to risk blowing yourself up!
Loved the video. When i get some money im deffinetly gonna build one. But, one small tip, when working with rotary tools (angle grinder, drill press, ect.) don't wear gloves and don't have long sleves. They can get caught and pull your extremities into the tool. Have a good day. :)
What is the stuff you spread on the insulation 11:10 ? Loved the build because I don't weld, it's good to see I don't need too to be able to make a forge.
@@ltjuglans194 Eh, no... The thermal cycling of the forge will quickly crack the clay, which will then fall off. Refractory cements are engineered to take the thermal cycling in stride.
Great idea. I tried to get an estimate together of the parts needed and cost - gets close to $100.00 not including finding a surplus water tank. I found the Ceramic Wool on Etsy for $11.00, most of the other prices were Home Depot.
OK. é LIKE amigo , parabéns encontrei o que eu queria . Tenho uma garrafa de compressor e vai dar para fazer o meu forno do tipo do seu . It doesn't look like from the editing that you "buttered" the ceramic wool. Any problems with the refractory cement peeling or not holding up? How often are you using this forge, and for how long?
I'm not OP but that paint is not Heat Resistant like the black he used, it was a heat resistant paint, the white would bubble and possible burn from the heat inside.
Nice but I learned in my first one. The burner nozzle is everything. Stainless insert for forge than burner housing. That galvanized or black iron get white hot it'll just start to crumble and effect the combustion. Your their though. Forge welding temps easy in her.
Oh shit. Folks, this is Day 1 of a new era: Young Je Blade and Tool Foundry has just begun. I predict in two years he will be casting his own iron plane bodies.
Two things I've done different on mine I put a 1 inch by 6 a.m. frame it in the bottom of mine and then I put wire mesh on for I put the mud on I put that over around a blanket
Love seeing varied projects from you. What you think about a door on the forge? The opening and heat probably don't make it necessary for optimal heat. I think of the loss of heat but don't know enough to understand the temperatures and what you're aiming for in there.
It's pretty common to use in a propane forge. It helps insulate the interior so the heat is reflected around the inside of the forge to heat quicker and be more efficient. The reason the refractory cement is then applied is to keep the carcinogenic compounds from forming more or less and to keep any fibers from escaping into the air
Hey guys, very important detail 13:29. Use YELLOW teflon tape! Yellow tape is for gas! Don't use white tape! White tape is for water! Great video!

I've seen many DIY forges but this one is by far the best. Now I have the design to build my own. Thank you so much for sharing!
Every time you release a video, it is a good omen for my week. You must be a saintly person.
Great Job! I am impressed with the knowledge you show in your work with kale wool fitting and refractory work. Again, very good job!

You are a very good builder. Loved the vid. Keep up the good work. I was impressed as to how diligently you worked the build.
I really like this guy. So many things you make that I would think id have to buy....we need to start thinking outside the box. Thank you again.

I’d also say don’t use a grinder so close to the family jewels. I was holding my breath for the first minute.
What folks won't go through to heat the garage in this cold snap!
Stay toasty, good sir!

It's still refractory cement.
he held the container so you could see. It's a refractory cement. High temp cement.
Refractory Cement keeps heat well
If you do not use high-temperature cement your forge will reduce its lifetime by half,
in places where the soil consists of clay it is better to use clay, clay is super heat resistant and for free

Used at 7:57 ;-)
Thank you, I was wondering what to use.
Hi love the build as i dont weld nice and simple, can you please put up a list of materials you use to make this, and all measurements thanks
Nice work! I'm guessing you are trying your hand at blacksmithing next. You will enjoy that as you have a wonderfully creative mind.
what brand mig tip? what size hole drilled prior to tapping and what size a tap did you use> Thanks.
WOW! Dude! Amazing work!!! 😮

What is name the white sheet material?
Okay, maybe a stupid question: why did you bother to take the paint off the outside of the tank? Is that a must?
I'm not OP but that paint is not Heat Resistant like the black he used, it was a heat resistant paint, the white would bubble and possible burn from the heat inside.
Was that a MIG welding nozzle you used for the jet? If so, was size opening was it? Nice build
Yes its mig nozzle .People use 0.8 or 1mm.
i Just build my propane forge "force air burner" and I used a .30" mig tip.
Thanks
Great vijeo keep up the great work
nice build
Great idea. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent build! What was the first thing you heated to make sure it worked? And did you have an anvil and hammer to bend it?
If use 1090 steel & 01 tool steel, do not need special anvil and hammer.
Cool work 👍
Where the frak do you get that tap???????
Super 👍robota

I'm Not Sure What that Ceramic Wool Insulation is But Some of that Stuff Turns into a Serious Carcinogenic Compound Once its Heated to 1600° F.

Uuuuummmmmm, WHY are you putting refractory cement OVER kale wool AND fire bricks? TOTALLY un-necessary!
Kale is a vegetable.
