ouch. Labrie. I used to love dream theater. But listening to what happened to you and your voice, should make you realize that it might be time to retire...as sad as it is...
I really don't know. He seems to make it more difficult for himself by trying to over-sing the song. Its almost like he is trying to improv a new vocal line for the chorus, but kind of failing - which you really shouldn't be doing at a concert filmed for a live release. The best sounding "without hope" is the last one and its simply because he stays close to the original line and doesn't lose his vibrato all over the place. I say this as a big fan of the band and James - I know he can be better.
@@AaronLevyDrums There always has been touch-ups, both vocally and instrumentally since they released Live at the Marquee. James stated this on his website years ago.
@@agbjhw The problem isn't that there are any touch ups at all, I'm fine with that. Anyone should be fine with that, because everyone does it, unless it's specifically stated by the artist. The problem is just how much of it is touched up or overdubbed. It's like those commercials where they show how the model actually looks before they make her look like the perfect specimen. It's just not representative of the real thing. At least before, the bootlegs were still in the ballpark of the final product. Obviously, he's what, 56? 57? He's trying to hit notes for sustained periods that he just can't hit anymore. I mean it sucks, but that's life. I'm sure he can hit those highs in the studio after a good warmup, and not running around on stage, and he still sounds fantastic in his lower register, but this versus the final product? It's like two entirely different performance.
Mangine has troubles with underplaying and Labrie has troubles with overplaying XD Both are very capable, but seem to force themselves out of place somehow. Great band still, but oof
It's funny to compare James' voice in this raw recording and the one Dream Theater shared on their channel. Masterful work on the pitch correction.
I feel bad for Labrie, it must be heartbreaking to go through this every night knowing that you're not up to it anymore.
Ouch....

Why the hell is LaBrie pulling up his pitch on the last note of the chorus each time?! He hits the right note and ends up being totally out of tune.

This proves without a doubt there is editing on the live albums cuz THIS SONG IS ON SPOTIFY RIGHT NOW

Blo ody awful!! I can't believe he wanted to do it, does he like torturing his audience??

Is this the show of distant memories? What about james's voice? Here is awful, but in the blu ray no. WTF
