Good morning Luis. Excellent diagnosis, repair and honesty. Poor car engine replacement history and lazy workmanship contributing to the overall growing repair costs. I hope the person who wrongly fitted the cam dephasers has an opportunity to carefully look at this video and learn from this mistake and perhaps offer the car owner a partial refund. Keep up the good work. 😊

Partial refund.. not.. But I really don't understand the owner or the garage. Why go to someone other than the garage or mechanic that fitted the engine.?

👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👍🏻 Excellent work. You're not a mechanic, you're a proper engineer! I found this video as I'm working on the same engine (in a Mini) for a friend. Previous "mechanic" changed the timing chain after it was burning oil, and it came back still burning oil plus now spurting oil out the top of the engine. £600 to make things worse. Probably the same guy who built the engine you fixed?

Hi there. I don’t usually post comments anywhere, but come on Luis, whoever worked on the Peugeot was a complete ‘idiot’. I watch your videos and think you are very fair with your criticism of previous mechanics. I wish I was as fair.
Keep up the good work etc.

Great job on diagnosing Louis. This wrong dephaser swap is maybe done by some mechanic when this engine was in previous car. Maybe that car was scrapped for that reason. :)) What a story.

That was a idiotic mistake from a so-called mechanic. Don't get me wrong. The temperature sensor does give hard start issues and you where 100% right to first fix that. I am the first to admit that mistakes can be made. Especially by those of us who work on different brands but working on timing related parts should have ones attention focused. You did a great job as always Luis. It takes hobbyists to screw things up and real mechanics to fix it. Well done. And your "bashing". When you see the footage of the work that others have done it would be abnormal if you wouldn't mention something. I understand your position but some cases are too frustrating .

good morning Luis cracking job there if the same person that fitted the cam adjusters fitted the engine what else needs fixing and they should have known something was amiss when they tried starting it probably temp sensor made it hard to start cold my first thought when you first jumped in the temp gauge was up near the red but they went for the phasers and then built in a world of hurt i think miss piggy kermit and fozzy bear would have done better

So we can deduce the likely story in that engine was bought from a car that was scrapped because someone changed the pullies but messed it up and it never ran correctly again.
Scrapyard then sold the engine as good as it started and didn't knock, must be good eh.
Some people should not be allowed to weild a spanner, imbeciles.

All I can say is WOW. Not seen a clown do something like that. Obvious there's a reason why the dephasers are marked for inlet and exhaust. Anyway, plenty of scope for idiot tax.
