    I had a 54 cm different colour , I put on a good set of carbon wheels with cotton turbo tyres and changed the heavy seatpost -saddle . Bike was 8.2kg without pedals . Hit plenty of prs on the bike .It felt fast with the better wheelset and quite stiff . Great entry level bike but yes you have to upgrade the wheelset immediately

    I bought one today and road it for about twenty minutes before it started to rain.
    I absolutely love it so far, and am excited to hit the local straightaways and hills.

    I'm absolutely in love with mine. I got mine when it first came out @ $2700 msrp. Nothing mechanically has changed since the release of the '21 model, yet the price has gone up $500+ !

    I think the smaller frames look sleeker. Makes the tubes look slightly thicker.

  • @yenny527

    It’s heavy but it has disc brakes making it look more modern vs rim brakes which saves weight. They’re even hydraulic. Swap out the wheels to carbons and can lighten it up some more

    Hey @jamesthebikeguy, between the Trek Emonda SL5 and the ALR5, which one should I invest that worth for a long term use?

    Hi, is this bike a mid range racing bike would you say? 3,000 euros isnt cheap, despite being the entry level carbon trek, is it classes as a good mid range racing bike? At that price, it cant be entry

  • @BikeLife154

    Lightweight and climbing bike should never be used on a bike that weighs as much as my gravel bike! The emonda used to be lightweight but those days are long gone! I admire your enthusiasm though.

    • @rolandvonkriegenbergh8540
      @rolandvonkriegenbergh8540 Год назад +3

      Absolutely! Calling this a climbing bike is ridiculous! I owned one and returned it right away. It rides like a tank even after upgrading the wheels and seat post.

    • @Rocky4719
      @Rocky4719 Год назад

      I agree. I’m no serious rider, but this mid-high tier “lightweight” bike is only 2 pounds lighter than my entry level bike. And this is a size 50. My allez is a 56. And has plastic flats. Ridiculous!

    • @divinemercy7036
      @divinemercy7036 Год назад

      The emonda is lightweight if it’s spec’d appropriately. Mine weighs 14.75lbs with petals. Lightweight is possible but you’ll need to spend some $$$

    • @BikeLife154
      @BikeLife154 Год назад

      @@divinemercy7036 the emonda used to be lightweight I’ll admit that, but no one in their right mind would call that model lightweight anymore. And no one seeking a lightweight bike would even look at any Trek bikes. Trek might describe it as such and owners such as yourself, but no one else thinks that. By your logic my Carbon Giant Revolt is a lightweight climbing bike. It’s only a little heavier than this emonda and if I spend thousands of dollars on it I can make that lightweight too. My aluminium Caad12 came in at 7.4kg stock for just $2,500. That’s what I call lightweight and that’s what the emonda used to be, but sadly it’s a tank these days.

    • @divinemercy7036
      @divinemercy7036 Год назад

      @@BikeLife154 I appreciate your viewpoint, but the 14.75lb spec of this model is lightweight no matter how you look at it, aside from the cost of course. I agree with you that the SL5 is very heavy and personally I wouldn’t consider it. That’s why I opted for the SLR9.

      Bike prices do need to come down significantly, the average person can not afford these things anymore.

    Climer? 😁 This bike has nothing to do with climers. Sluggish, heavy and limited gear range. It has short cage derailleur, so you can't even install a bigger cassette. Some cheap wheels too. And it's 21 lbs with pedals. Seriously Trek??
