I think y’all forgot that the book is in Percy pov . He doesn’t magically find out about hades being in la he is told , his thoughts take up most old the book however he is told all these things .
You can’t expect a kid who knows nothing about this world to just magically discover stuff , he is told . I get y’all don’t want info dumping however all that info he was never going to discover himself and it unrealistic for him to “just find out” about these things .
I get non book readers finding it weird ( which most don’t actually) however Percy spends 5 books not knowing a single thing and being told so idk why y’all acting brand new 😂😂.

that's valid haha percy truly is no thoughts just vibes! just wished there was more convo around it instead of being told and that's that. not a big deal though at the end of the day, just minor details that definitely don't out weight how amazing the show is

bro..he was the one who found out who dionysus was.He figured out who the minotaur was himself,Medusa..some help from annabeth but he put the pieces together.Aunty Em,Aunty M.M for medusa. He is the reason that they didnt stay at lotus casino for another day or two,if they did, poseidon and zeus would alreayd be at war,and it would be like 6 years into the future or more.

      @@malaa1984 please reread the books
He genuinely spends 5 whole books being clueless
In the 3rd books he pretends to know stuff because he is already insecure about Thalia knowing stuff
In book 4 he is so clueless that Annabeth has to ask him if he’d lie to her .

im a new percy jackson reader..i legit just finished reading the books lol...@@euphoria2737 also no,he legit was able to figure out in the third book to defeat nemean lion and the boar.Obviously theres moments where percy is dumbfounded, like book 4 and majority of book 3,but overall he has a bunch of smart moments, and knows stuff.Book 1 majority he figures out himself, even a profession freaking guy in percy jackson, whos read the books since it came out (I believe,or a couple years later) and big mythology geek in greek and others, and even stated in the vast majority of the books percy realizes things by himself.Only thing time his brain shuts off is most of the third book and the fourth book.

Love, love LOVED this episode. Especially those final moments between the three of them. Stellar acting from Walker, Leah and Aryan. They really are the perfect casting!!! It's been so long since I've read The Lightning Thief, but I like that this show is changing things a little.

3:15 It was Gabe and his poker buddies in the book. So yeah, pretty accurate.

for the part where you say that it took some time to introduce and explain in the books i get that but bc its an 8 episode season of 38 to 45 mins there are things that they either have to tell quickly or add them later. for example when percy was claimed chiron in the show did not add the "father of horses" because i believe they want to introduce it in season 2

The show needs to fix their screwy exposition dumps ASAP or they'll alienate half the audience (the non-book readers). If I can't feel like I'm learning vicariously through the main characters....I don't really care about anything else in the show. It feels unnatural the way they did it, as if they were reading from the back of a book cover.
One of the consequences of the exposition dumps was that they left me, as a first time viewer, with a MILLION questions. Some of them needed to be answered then and there for me to be on board.
      For example:
What is a war of the gods? Who even is in danger?
Why are they sending a 12 year old? Where are the 30 year old demigods?
Why are the adults SO non-chalant about sending kids to hell and possibly perishing?
Why is the Oracle included? Wouldn't they have gone on the quest anyway?
Why did Grover say he's 24 but look and act twelve?
These aren't questions to be held till later...these things are necessary to know in order to be on board with the quest at hand. Otherwise, it's simply infuriating.
And the exposition we do get is really boring because there's no lore or world-building to give us perspective or context to why it matters.
It's all well and good for you book fans who can fill in the gaps, but yeah, it's infuriating to feel left out and confused all the time about the most basic concepts in the show.

Oh, and also another question: what do the adults know about hades and the underworld? What do they know about Percy's quest? and what did they tell Percy before he left? We can only assume the adults said nothing, or that Percy was told stuff and we were left out. If the adults gave Percy no guidance then they are probably trying to sabotage the quest and get Percy killed, and if Percy knows what's ahead and we don't....well, he's the main character. I've heard in the books you hear his inner monologue. But in the show, he's HIDING THINGS from us?! Saddening, haha.

@@JJ_6036tbh many of the things you mentioned are only handled way later. Percy and most demigods don't really have the time to ask themselves these questions because they have to deal with the task at hand. Per example, Percy has no time to think about 30yo demigods rn, and idek if a 12yo woukd think about that when he's dealing with the fact that he's the son of a greek deity. The way it is rn it's already overwhelming for him, as well as the audience, and it's supposed to be that way. Percy and the audience learn as we go along the way.
Also, it's only been 3 episodes, so there's still time to answer lots of these questions. I feel like the weekly format left ppl complaining abt things that we just have to wait and see, we haven't even reached half of the season yet. People are too used to shows that come out with all episodes released at the same time. We only have 8 episodes in total, so the core aspects of it must be focused on and others will come up and be solved in time.

On the Medusa thing: it’s important to note that there are different versions of the myth, and the oldest ones include her being born a monster along with her two (immortal) gorgon sisters. It was Ovid in 1st Century BC who first penned the version where she was SA-ed by Poseidon and punished by Athena as a proxy; he had beef with the establishment of the time (specifically being Emperor Augustus who had exiled him from Rome) and his retellings of myths were much more critical of the Olympians… That said, besides not being too explicit in the show, I think they’re going for the fact that her being a victim previously doesn’t justify taking her own proxy vengeance on the gods’ children; let alone murdering however many innocent mortals who just happened to come upon her, and selling their petrified corpses for profit (also, Rick and his wife, Becky Riordan kinda cameo as statues that were made in their images).
There’s also the idea that being immortals, the gods have a lot of time to mature if they’re willing to; Poseidon in PJO is far chiller and kinder than the original legends, so he might hate the person he was back when he first encountered Medusa (and regret her getting caught in the crossfire of his and Athena’s petty feuding). Just my input on the matter; not here to try and influence anyone to change their minds.

I agree with you on the oracle looking like the spongebob character, tbh I think the design for the oracle in the percy jackson movie was nice too it was kinda similar to the grandma in spongebob.

The mortal Greeks used silver drachma. The gods used gold.

i think in the books the romans use gold so it would be interesting if they tease that out throughout the following seasons

I do actually love Luke. Following Kronos is a pretty dumb choice, but you can see everything that got them there. And he really does care.

It’s crazy to see people hyping this show up for no reason😭 it really shows how people have no knowledge of film!
    The acting: bland
    The dialogue: pointless
    Actual filmography: HORRIBLE!
It’s sad because I think the fans have been so excited for so long that they feel like they HAVE to love it.
Seriously we can’t call everything GOOD TV!

Pffft-- and we should believe you because??? 😂 Cry somewhere else. You can't force people to have the same (bad) opinion as you. And if you really hate it so much then stick to your movie, or the books or maybe touch grass. Easy.

Actually, I think it's in reverse. It's crazy to see people slating this show for weird reasons; not giving it room to breathe i.e., thinking its gonna be word for word from the book. I don't know why you think some book fans are lying when they say they loved it, you think if they didn't they wouldn't make their opinion vocal??
