The colour of each say is the general colour of the corresponding planet:
Sun, Moon (Monday is MoonDay), Mars (red), Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn (Saturday is SaturnDay).

Thank you for this video. Very Helpful. Would you be able to explain something about the extra characters at the end of some of the days of the week in Thai? I mean the ทร์ at the end of วันจันทร์ and the ร์ at the end of Friday and Saturday, and the ย์ at the end of Sunday? Thank you.

For a simple explanation, they are Pali/Sanskrit words and that's why there are those character with the mark (that cancels the sound). You can look at them as exceptions and just need to remember them. I don't know much about the root of Pali/Sanskrit so I can't really explain in depth.

Hi Adrian, thank you for your question. You're right that Thais don't really use the phrase to close a conversation. We usually say 'láew jer gan' (see you later) or if it’s a stranger then we say 'chôk dee kráp' (good luck). Or just say 'buh bye.' It's actually quite common to say 'buh bye,' or you wai (Thai greeting gesture) then say 'sà-wàt-dee kráp.'
Personally, I usually wai then say to my mom and dad ''sà-wàt-dee kâa" (prolong the ending), followed by "buh bye!"
Great instruction and clarification on pronunciation/tones in an orderly fashion. Sarah also helps keep things light and funny...Hence her comments on the word Sunday "Wan aa-tit" no letter 's' at the end of the Thai word..55555!!... Very informative and a great way to help learn the basics or brush up your Thai before getting out there and using it. :) Thanks Sarah, you're a Fantastic Teacher ....

You made a mistake. Your transliteration is wrong for Tuesday, where you did not indicate that the "a" is long. You should write wan-angkaan not wan-angkan (and why you put an "r" there ?)
Thank you for pointing this out. You are right. It’s probably best to just learn Thai script to be honest. I also don’t think there is such a thing as the best or most accurate transliteration as it is subjective to each learner. The reason you saw what you thought was a mistake in the video was because I used the simplified version before I was introduced to the standard transliteration Paiboon+ later in 2020.
Yes, it is supposed to be ‘ang-kaan’ for Tuesday if you use the standard one. If you use a simplified version, it would be ‘ang-karn’ because ‘ar’ gives a prolonging effect in English (British pronunciation rather than American one). That’s the closest sound you could get from a simplified version to sound AH.
I have been suggested by a few learners to use simplified versions and now I actually use both simplified and standard ones (putting one in a bracket). Honestly, it’s been challenging to cater to either or even both because like I said it’s subjective to each learner.
The SOLUTION to this hassle is to learn Thai script. Yes, I can use a standard transliteration/transcription but I will also be requested to use a simplified version. Then one person will say I should use the standard one because it’s the right thing to do and another will say but the simplified version is easily understood intuitively. And this argument will never end…
Oh and I prefer using the standard one in my class only. I do a simplified version for a few learners (upon request) who only do a few lessons with me. For a long term study, I always persuade every single one of them to learn the standard system and later Thai script. 100% of my private lesson students have been trusting me and getting into Thai script ultimately and they can’t thank me enough.
