Sometime it is just good to learn sentences. Single word meaning when put into sentences it changes its meaning although.

In the question « can you open the door please? » or « can you turn off the music please? » what happened to the word « pûut» which refer to « you » right ? Can it be replaced by the word « nòi »? Thanks for your help ! 😊

Hey Alicia, the word "pûut" or "พูด" means "to speak" / "khun" or "คุณ" means "you", which is not used in these sentences; because the sentence itself (question) already applies to the person "you". Therefore "you" or "khun" is often not used. The word used for: "can you open the door please?" is "bperd" -> "open" or "เปิด". 🙂Since "pûut" and "noi" are both 2 words with different meanings, you cannot swap them 😊 I hope this is useful, Cheers

I learned somewhere to ask "Prohd Puud Cha-cha noi, krap" - is that another way to politely ask for something or have I been speaking wrongly?

The word โปรด /bpròod/ is too formal, it is not used in everyday spoken Thai. It makes you sound like a textbook. :)
