    I’ve come back to this video so many times over the years. I’ve made this Italian dressing chicken more times than I can count! I usually toss some small red or yellow potatoes and baby carrots in the slow cooker along with the chicken. Minimal effort for a healthy dinner. Thank you for sharing this easy slow cooker recipe. Years later, I’m still making it. 😊

I watch you talk to your kids and encourage them, its such an encouragement to me and I have changed my attitude toward some of the things that my kids do because of the encouraging ways that you handle things and include your kids in like cooking, cleaning, and all those types of things☺ thank you for your videos I'll continue to watch every Monday!👍

  • @JennTheRebel456

    I make the same thing....BUT.....I remove the chicken and mix in cream cheese to the broth to make creamy italian chicken. Not sure if that's on a diet plan or not but it goes great over any pasta we've added to it! Also, you can do this w/a dry packet of italian OR ranch dressing and both come out yummy! I think the only thing w/dry packets are you may(?) have to add chicken broth(or water) if not using frozen chicken.
    Thanks for giving me my idea for tomorrow's dinner!😁

    Wish we had this when we homeschooled, but we were when very few were doing it in the 80's. Good for you mama! My 3 youngest never went to regular school. My 2 oldest were already in their junior & senior years in public school. (They were jealous and we were glad the could tell time by the time they graduated) lol they later said they only remembered what we helped them with. The 3 youngest all have their own businesses.

    I took my Christmas stuff down on the 13th of February - life happened this year and that’s when I had the time. I make Italian crockpot chicken with Italian dressing and a cream of chicken or mushroom soup added in. I’ll then shred the chicken once it’s done, add a bit of cornstarch to the broth to thicken it a smidge and serve the saucy shredded chicken over rice or pasta.

    My family loves a version of this soak chicken over night in about cup and a half of vinager and half cup sugar and italian spices . Take it out in morning and cook any way you prefer, slow cooker or oven or fry with no oil on a grill pan. Ok not good for you with all that sugar but boy they love it...

    I have been making this forever. We buy bags of leg quarters, and use three of them skinned in the crock pot for one batch of this. We can get a huge bag of leg quarters for a little over $3 so one bag of leg quarters will make three batches of this, and I find the Italian salad dressing at the Dollar Tree or Dollar General for $1. It's a super cheap meal that my whole family begs for. We serve it on top of rice with a side of broccoli usually. We also spoon the sauce from the chicken cooking in the crock pot with the dressing over the rice. A little goes a long ways with this tummy warming meal.

    Tip: when the knob breaks on a slow cooker, AND it has a hole through it for the original knob- drawer pull knobs work. Grab an old porcelain or glass drawer pull. A STAINLESS machine screw keeps rust away, and two small rubber o-rings or grommets help keep the new knob tight without putting too much force. Take the knob and original screw to a small (non-box store) hardware store and tell them what you're trying to do. You'll likely need a shorter screw anyway, and I don't trust the original screws even if they're coated (galvanized.)

    Must be a design flaw, b/cuz our knob came off too. Hubby took a small bolt, couple of washers and a nut to reattach the knob. Lasted for years. Sadly, the actual pot just recently cracked so now we are having to purchase a whole new one. But that is another option if u still have the knob. Dinner looked delish!

    This is exactly why my mom does not want to use the crock pot I bought her....because the chicken comes out like boiled chicken basically. Pouring a flavor over frozen chicken and boiling it does not give the chicken enough flavor, I have tried. I know this lady is doing her best and is sharing... that is good and thanks for sharing this idea. I humbly suggest to at least let the chicken thaw over night and marinate it ...and make holes in the chicken so the flavors can penetrate..put lemon, herbs, apple cider vinegar....let the flavors penetrate.

    • @kellytorrs1167
      @kellytorrs1167 8 лет назад +9

      stems ...boil...same bland taste. that is my point that the taste is bland ... yeah steamed food is healthy but we have to make the flavor penetrate on chicken because steamed chicken or boiled chicken with no flavor is not that great.... the more we know. Thanks

      I did not have that issue but I did add a few additional seasoning to mine that I normally use with chicken for example I added adobo and Lawyers seasoning salt may I suggest you try ( if you haven't yet) adding seasonings you normally put on your chicken when I made this which was two days ago I used frozen chicken like she did and had no problem it had tons of flavor

      Kelly Torrs your Mom can transfer the meat onto a baking sheet and broil in the oven for 3-5 minutes for color. It will still be tender and juicy with the "baked" look. But who am I kidding? My crockpot just collects dust bc I like to stand at the stove and cook my food. To each there own I suppose. 😊

    Love the idea of using the juices to make a soup! I make something similar but add a roux (cornflour&water) to the pot towards the end of cooking time. I am a newbie on this channel that I love. I send you a fan msg on Instagram as well under another pseudonym btw. Anyway, may I suggest something about this awesome recipe ? Instead of using this bottle of Italian dressing why not making your own healthier version of it ? Buy some dry herb in bulk, use some along other common spices like black pepper, salt, onion powder and some white vinegar, olive oil and sugar. I think you can eliminate this way the artificial flavour and preservatives. Also, it should be cheaper at the end (because you can use the dry herbs, spices and other ingredients for many more recipes) while it is not time consuming, isn't it ? But of course, the bottle is fine if you like it and if it is just easier for you. Just adding my two pieces of thought with humbleness and respect. Love from Canada
