Barbra wanted Elvis for the role, not Kristofferson. Can you imagine the fantastic movie they might have made with fat old Elvis and his golden voice instead of hunky Kris who couldn't really sing?

@@manga4715 Everything turns out the way it should, Manga, that's the way of the world! I was instead asking you to use your imagination. If you don't believe that Presley, at that mid-70s moment, might have been perfect casting for a washed-up, self-destructive superstar (and a far more experienced actor than Kristofferson also) then our imaginations must agree to disagree. The best things in the movie they made were the 2.5 minutes presented here; a young Gary Busey; and maybe the offhand performance by Paul Mazursky in the old Adolphe Menjou/Charles Bickford role.
