Helo 'na - Llanelli girl here in Australia with 2 children living in New Zealand who went to Ysgol y Bannau. I lived in Talgarth for about 5 years. Loved that area. Anyway now the other side of the world having emigrated to New Zealand and now Australia. Planning however though to come back to Europe to live. One life so make the most of it. The Butler (Kev my husband) misses the UK and I miss the centre of the universe which of course is Wales. don't think we could go back to live there though because having lived in other countries you're not quite the person you were when you left as they influence your way of thinking. Lovely hearing you speak and I wish you all the best in your new life. P.S. we may end up in Portugal too after I retire lol looking forward to the next vid. Hwyl fawr Siw
Hi Siw. Talgarth and the surrounding area is lovely. Somewhere we would have considered moving to if different plans had come about. Portugal is a great option if you're thinking of returning nearer home. It took us no time at all to have all the ingredients needed to make Welsh cakes!

I reckon it was super cheap since the locals all move away because of 50 degrees already in summer yet in winter you still freeze td we have so many portuguese now on canary islands where its warm all year but never too hot. Of course impossible to find a beautiful farm as yours for cheap here!! Congrats I hope you build something great and start growing a lot of pomegranate of various kinds its the healthiest fruit on the planet
In reality, the locals abandoned the region not because of the high temperatures, because they are already used to it, the problem is more due to the lack of jobs. In the past, people worked in the fields, but now young people do not want to follow in the "footsteps" of their descendants.
Alentejo is in the south! consider yourselves moors now :) try saying "cashtelo de veede" remember to buy gin from pingo doce when it's on sale, for 13€ instead of the usual 16€

We are quite lucky here only a few days at 40c as we are in the mountains. Slow trickle of people coming back to live here.

We'd love a chicken tractor and we've seen people with rabbit tractors too! Long term plan is to cut / graze the land and to end ploughing 😊.
