How lovely. Even though I have been all around the area and to all those villages in real life I still find I enjoyable to watch as you show us around. And to see it from above with the drone shots it's a real bonus. Thanks for sharing 😊
That was fun. Thanx. Fun that you went to my village. I look forward to arriving in March. Cheers and Happy New Year to you all. Gina in Upstate New York USA moving to Portugal in 2025
I will be in another village south of you as soon as the house closes. I am looking forward to Spring in Portugal. I am really hoping we get produce or bakery trucks coming through our village. Cheers and Happy New Year to you too.
@@DanLanton Oh fun and WELCOME to Portugal. Where are you moving from? I have been to the area but still need to scout out our markets, cafes etc. Keep me posted Which village? I will be outside Lavacolhos. Not a lot there. As long as there is a cafe for coffee within walking distance from my property that's all I wanted. YOU??? How did you decide on the area and property. Here's to an amazing 2025 for us all. Gina
I realy enjoyed this video and watching the girls having such a great time. I'm sure they must have slept good that evening after all that fresh air and exploration. Definately want to visit these places one day. Maybe even buy a property up there and get some of those Miranda burros 👍Wishing you all a blessed New Year.
A lovely video tour Joseph, and it’s encouraging to see well-kept villages rather than largely abandoned ones. The views around Lavacolhos look really beautiful. My concern with this area is that a lot of people say the climate is too harsh: Summers too hot and winters too cold! Would you say that is fair comment? 🤔
Wow steeped in so much history. Love these videos. Thank you both as always, very entertaining seeing you with your beautiful sweet daughters - take care
Fantastic video Joseph! I enjoyed revisiting Castello Novo, we were there last June staying with Ian and Fiona. We're still searching in the area for a property. Andre is an incredible co-host, his knowledge of the area is unmatched. Cheers.
Happy New Year and here is a sugestion for other places that you can show/visit at Serra da Gardunha : - Louriçal do Campo , Casal da Serra , Souto da Casa , Quinta do Monte Leal ; all located along the Serra da Gardunha.
When we were on São Mgueal, there was a stone ramp and people were swimming in January there. I went to feel the temperature and slipped on the moss, bent my thumb back, ouch.
Happy New Year Joseph and Andre. Thank you for sharing these villages. Andre is a real wealth of local knowledge. Very sweet to see your girls playing together.
Beautiful villages, thanks for showing them. Andre is a good co host with great knowledge of the area and its Lovely to see the girls enjoying time with their daddies x
The best part for me of living in Portugal, is being able to grow plants all year round. I guess the summers might be hard on some plants that don’t do well in the hot, dry summers.
Very good right now, for example one of my clients/friends purchased a property through us for 35k last year, spent 28k renovating and sold for 115k just recently, in one of the villages mentioned
I would love to see Ralph Fiennes new movie Conclave. You reminded with the bishop who did NOT want to be in the running. The trailers from the film and just common sense tells us that he was probably a decent man. 😂
Whilst starting to look at properties in Portugal , RUclips took me down a rabbit hole of moaning British expats who seem to want everything in Portugal to be British? Not a nice experience, just as I was giving up hope I found your chanel and this video, now I feel like I've just had a holiday, just the tonic I needed thank you. I'm off to check your website and binge your other videos now 😊
Awwwwwh thank you so much and I hope you like the videos! la you have any questions or need to know anything please send us an email 😁 farmerforfun@outlook.com
Feliz ano novo :) I really enjoyed this video, thank you for posting. Your hard work has definetly paid off. There are so many wonderful villages in the Fundao area it probably was not easy to choose five of the best. I also like Castelejo, Silvres, Valverde, and Vale de Prazeres but to be honest everywhere is simply gorgeous.
Really enjoyed it. I truly liked it. sitting safe in my house with minus 26 outside here in Sweden. I would love to find my new spot. thank you very much for sharing. a warm greeting.
Very happy, healthy, and blessed new year, Joseph and Andre and your families. Especially enjoyable video today, touring your top 5 villages for prospective home bases ranks up there for me with your foraging, nature, cooking, and your own farm activities videos 😊👍🏼. Patronizing the bakery etc trucks, restaurants, little stores, strolling the parks and other amenities are also valuable peeks into life in those locations! In which villages are your shorter-stay rentals located? Your meal at Casa Cuna Leal looked fantastic!
Bom Dia Joseph, Casa Cunha Leal is a fantastic restaurant, we really enjoyed the food there. You mentioned there was a book that included that and other recommended restaurants. Do you have details of it ?
Great video Joe, really helpful. Couple of bits of advice if I may. 1 can you make your website a responsive design so it automatically adjusts to the correct size when viewing on a mobile device 2. The adverts on the site, when viewing on a phone, basically make the site unusable. Cheers
Hello from Johannesburg. Ever considered selling property in Funchal. I have the best of all worlds, urban with agricultural land and a view of the harbour.
The village houses are all built together, I guess it was for convenience sake. I like living away from the village more, but it is more convenient if you don’t have your own food sources.
I didn’t like Madeira because the border patrol detained me and I missed my connecting flight, spent the night sleeping on hard benches! They made me get a return trip ticket.
Yes, many white stripes in the sky. I live in another country but have that also , above my village. From north to south, and also from east to west. (😀). From Germany to London i think. Possibly there, planes from Spain Madrid maybe, who are passing over.

Glad you enjoyed it! Wow, that’s cold, I hope you have the fire lit! 💕

Good on you for embracing the Portuguese language
Thank you so much!
Happy New Year to you too.

Beautiful villages.
😘
The best part for me of living in Portugal, is being able to grow plants all year round. I guess the summers might be hard on some plants that don’t do well in the hot, dry summers.
Yes, mid summer is not ideal for a lot of plants, unless shaded and planted under tree canopy etc 💕
I heard you mention where you are from, that was interesting too. I’ve never been to the UK, my great uncle originally came from Glasgow Scotland.
Everything grows well in Portugal! I have lots of snow here in Central NY 🥶
🥶 Coooold
Thanks for sharing the beautiful area.
Thank you!
I wish I were from Portugal! I would be able to live there.
I love it so much!
Nice tour ! Exceeded my expectations. 😀
Thank you very much for this one. Really beautiful and interesting. I know some of these places, but not all. Really great.
Thank you for watching my friend!
These are just some of our favourite villages… Which villages would you suggest?
How are the values and resales of these areas over time?
Very good right now, for example one of my clients/friends purchased a property through us for 35k last year, spent 28k renovating and sold for 115k just recently, in one of the villages mentioned
@@Farmerforfun I'll be in the area from the 10th of January till February .

Ralph's other new film in 2024 "The Return" is HOMER related and I would love to see it also. Just wanted to share that. lol
Thanks for the Portuguese lessons! I have a hard time understanding most words lol.
Thank you so much! Glad you liked the video my friend 💕
Very fond of the Viseu district for its proximity to Porto, Coimbra and Aveiro.
Very nice areas!

Thanks Joseph ❤ @Farmerforfun

They really are!
Hello from Johannesburg. Ever considered selling property in Funchal. I have the best of all worlds, urban with agricultural land and a view of the harbour.
Hi!!! I’m in Funchal next week filming 😂
Great to see Castelo Novo from cold Oslo.
Thank you for watching! 💕 Much love 💕
Hoping to travel through there in a couple of months looks beautiful

Thank you, I really enjoyed the villages. Could you tell us the name of the book that has the restaurants and hotels in it?
Boa cama, boa mesa is the name 💕

Awwwh thank you Celia!! Absolutely, that would be a great idea, thank you!! 💕

Look forward to seeing you then!!!
Watching this on a soaking wet miserable Sunday in the UK, where I can’t even go outside without a rain suit.
We have the same weather today, raining cats and dogs!!

Happy new year all the best for 2025 and you all
A very happy new year for you too my friend!
I keep leaning toward the part that grows the cherries, but I am not sure what village, but is Fundão the municipality? 🤷♀️
Most of Fundão area is great for cherries, some of the best places are Alcongosta, Enxames and more too
I was wondering what the Freguesia Junta translated, Parrish council, thanks.
Do you have a list of the 5 Villages? P.s love you're video's
Hi there, thank you. Yes, it’s the first shot of the video, I listed them all 😁
@Farmerforfun thank you, i missed that part Oops ;)
Cables are so ugly, that’s just so beautiful that there are no unsightly cables.
It looks a lot like São Miguel, Açores there! I didn’t like driving with all the steep inclines and declines 😑. Very nerve racking to me.
Yes I would be the same!
I tried to turn on the Portuguese subtitles, but it only gave me the English subtitles. Did Mariana translate this video? ❤
Yes that’s correct, she didn’t do this video as we are on holiday! 💕
I didn’t like Madeira because the border patrol detained me and I missed my connecting flight, spent the night sleeping on hard benches! They made me get a return trip ticket.
😯 That isn’t good! I’ll be filming in madeira next week!
Luso: Where the water comes from. 💧
Yes! Castelo Novo (where we filmed) has a fantastic water also, Alardo! 😁 💙
@ Everyone from Luso has long arms from carrying litres of Luso water from the spring! 😂
hahaha, that’s very funny!!
❤😊😊
💕 🥰 💕
A prison! There must’ve been some bad boys back in those days lol.
at the 18 minute mark, is this close the the airport?
probably 3 hours to Lisbon and 2 and a half hours to Porto airports, I think. 4 to 5 hours to Madrid
Yes, many white stripes in the sky. I live in another country but have that also , above my village. From north to south, and also from east to west. (😀). From Germany to London i think.
Possibly there, planes from Spain Madrid maybe, who are passing over.
Jeeeeez the chamtrails :(
Lots of chemtrails in that footage.
