@@victorbangle5050 The scene where luke is training he is using anakins lightsaber which is blue. He then loses it when his hand gets cut off in empire strikes back. Then at the beginning of ROTJ he build the green one.
Oh. Hi. No shit I know that Luke had a new lightsaber come ROTJ. You can write 3,000 words, and the only shit people will remember are your 6 word brain farts.
Cry me a river! When you make this stupid a mistake, people are going to call you out for it. And just the fact that it followed a completely unoriginal speech about the cantina change, this really makes you look like you're repeating what you remem
Calvin Schubert I just realized it would have been too difficult with audio quality, inflection of voice, etc etc. Plus I made this video all today, so I wanted to rush it out. I didn't want anyone to have to go out of their way to get me some audio. I got some great submissions though!
True enough. I tried...but it was so embarrassing I didn't even upload it! :P If you ever want/need fan help in the future don't hesitate to ask. Congrats on the Insider article too. Can't wait to read it!
I dislike the Greedo shooting first change, not because it takes from Han's character, but because it discredits Greedo. How could Greedo, a seasoned bounty hunter, miss a shot from less than 3 feet away? It makes no sense to me.
+evilsupernintendo84 I am Russian, and I am always amused when the characters of American movies all the time shouting "Noooooooooooooooooo". I always thought that in real life people do not react like this, at least in my country 100%. For us, it looks very silly and funny. Maybe it is exclusively feature of the American mentality? Or is it a stereotype created by Hollywood?
+Павел Паршев It's definitely a hollywood stereotype. I've never seen anyone scream "NO!" in real life over any serious event. In some cases it can actually add to the scene (Luke's "No!" in IV when Obi-Wan dies) but for the most part it's just a silly stupid trope.
It was this change alone that made me lose all respect for Lucas as a filmmaker. All I can say is thank God he no longer has control of this franchise anymore. I mean say what you will about Disney but I don't see them ever making dumb retarded decisions like this.
There's a deleted scene in the Blu-Ray collection where it shows Luke in a cave on Tatooine creating his lightsaber and putting it inside R2, which helps explain how R2 randomly shot out the green lightsaber in ROTJ.
+Nawsachi You're a Jedi if you use the Force to protect the galaxy and fight evil. So Luke was always a Jedi. If he is a Jedi Knight or not, or if this has to do with building your own light saber, that's up to you to believe.
+MoLetalis not nessersaeraly, to be a Jedi you have to follow the Jedi code. I could fight evil and protect the galaxy with a lightsaber but i could still have a wife, which in that case i would not be a jedi, If i used passion to fuel my powers then i would be a sith but i may not do evil, Infact Luke was a Sith at one point when he used his love for his friends to defeat Vader
+Jack Hayes This scene would have made the movie a WHOLE lot better, instead of us going "Where the fuck did that come from?" because I always thought I missed a scene or something.
Personally, I loved the "NOOOOO!" at the end of Revenge of the Sith, as there's so much emotion in it. It is basically one last scream of Anakin Skywalker before being buried deep inside Vader for some 20 years. The dialogue implies that it is only about Padmé, but I think it goes deeper than that. I think that outburst represents all regrets Anakin had. From the moment he slaughtered the Tusken Raiders to all those moments he had been a jerk to Obi-Wan, the closest thing he had ever had to a father.
+David Sanden Oh no he gave negative feedback, he really has to get out of here and leave his remarks to himself. I agree with him, though this particular video wasn't that bad at all. A couple of the video's in this series I had the feeling it was half weird intro other half the info I was actually looking for.

+Guus Kleeven Oh no, he didn't offer negative criticism in any constructive manner. He makes some snide remark like an insufferable, spoiled brat. Sad that you're either too stupid, or just ad self absorbed to recognize the difference. I guess that's why the internet sucks more often than it doesn't.
The worst change for the Blu-Ray release was the "no... NOO" in Jedi... that scene used to be so powerful... now it's just melodramatic and over the top... It's probably the worst change EVER to the original trilogy. "Han Shot First" can only DREAM of being this bad.
I remember seeing jedi in the theater as a kid, and when Vader grabbed the Emperor, the crowd cheered. It was an exciting moment, and the climax of the Skywalker story. Having Vader say "no" kind of lets you know what's going to happen, and lessens that climax.
+HelloGreedo The lightsaber color (yes, i know im months late) chance only really can affect you if you've read a lot of the EU (or watched a 5 minute video like I did) and know what each color represents, you know, like, blue for knights, green for diplomats/force scholars, etc etc etc. But I mean, thats... You're right in that it doesn't quite affect the movie.
Luke's lightsaber in return of the Jedi is green because it's a completely different lightsaber if you want Luke's blue one you have to get a anakin one
that NO! line actually broke my heart and devastated me for a week after watching the Bluray version of Return, did I mention Vader's redemption is my favorite scene in the movie? yeah talk about adding salt to a wound
CliffFitter89 It's one of the most powerful moments in cinema history. Ruined by a spoiled rotten, crying baby, who is taking his ball home because the other kids laughed at his Jar Jar Binks Halloween costume.
Eh to be honest I kind of like it like no offense but I think it’s s nice little add for the movie like yeah sure it might have ruined it but not for me the part that ruined Star Wars for me is then Disney made Star Wars last Jedi which for me ruined the whole franchise
***** Yeah, but no one can say anything bad about the redone shots of the battle on the deathstars' surface. Those are just plain better in every way. If they do release the original versions on bluray, they need to at least include the touch ups on the special effects, like the black lines around the ships on Hoth, ect. Even the Tie-fighters had gray boxes around them. I agree we should get the original versions, but just the bare minimum touch ups to things like that. And of course, the great restored picture and sound.
Lucas: Should we edit the turning point of Vader in ROTJ for the blu ray release? Editor: You mean the perfectly filmed, acted, edited and scored scene at the end where Vader turns on the emperor to save Luke? Lucas: Exactly that. Editor: NO! NOOOOOOOOO!!! Lucas: Great idea, get to work!
Seeing some of these changes makes me really glad that Spielberg had the sense to not do something like this with the Indiana Jones films when they were released on DVD and Blu-Ray.
Stormaggedon Dark Lord of All Luke, "Ow, why'd'ja cut off my hand?" Vader, "Because Luke, I am your father, and I don't think you're old enough to play with grownup stuff."
HAZE_productions This only PROVES that Lucas added the change as an "F-you" to the fans. After the Vader "NOOoo" from the prequels, he decided to get the fans back for all the criticism, just before selling his company. Lucas is a HACK. He can't write or direct. He can only come up with creative ideas, but so can an average nine year old child.
***** Anyone can make something creative but making something successful is a different story and George Lucas did not make something successful. He had a team of great minds to make the originals truly great and then he made the prequels which were terrible.
That's my problem with the special editions. Lucas talks of his true vision, but it seems to change every time his back account balance drops into 10 digits.
In return of the jedi, he had a new lightsaber, which was green. Up until then, he's had his father's lightsaber, which was blue. That's it, he made a new lightsaber after he lost the old one.
My brothers and I were recently watching ROTJ and when we got to this scene we were relieved to discover we had an unaltered version. We saw it three times in a row just to appreciate the silence.
Yes that was a dumb change...Luke willingly jumps to his death, there can be no scream of surprise when you valiantly jump knowing you're most likely gonna die.
Oh god. That last change you mentioned. It kills me. It's such a meaningful pause. I'm reallllllllllllllyyyyyy excited for a bluray release of the original UNEDITED trilogy.
With the lightsaber changes, Luke was given his fathers saber which was blue in all prequels. That saber was lost when lukes hand was cut off, he then made a new Green saber in the third movie.
I just don't get why they never change the one thing that really needs to be changed. I'm talking of course of the Executor crashing into the Death Star. That pesky explosion has always bothered me, ever since I first saw it back in the 80's.
InteUtanMinCykel Yes, I've said this myself. I mean it's a Super Star Destroyer! That should have been a tad more of an epic impact. That flickering flame made it look like obvious models. An example of a practical effect failure that can easily be fixed by good CGI work.
AbstractM0use Exactly! And not use such a wide shot. A more close-up effect. Like when Anakin crashes that Federation cruiser in the beginning of Episode 3. They could easily make a spectacular scene out of it.
For Revenge of the Sith I would rather have seen Darth Vader scream in anguish rather than scream "Noooooo!". I think that would have hit the audience emotionally.
The Darth Vader "No" adds character to him. Most of the time he's lifeless, like there's just a robot inside. In episode II and III you see how Anakin reacts to different things. His "No" in Episode III was more... realistic. I mean, normal Anakin would scream, if he saw his son being tortured. The son that still loves him after everything he did. You people know what I mean? It showed that Anakin did not change and is still a human. I actually liked that change. It adds more... life.. to his character.
***** In my opinion it would be a lot like Anakin. WHen he looked at his son and the Emperor, he might think in his head "This is happening again, but now with my son. The emperor said Padme died because of my anger, but she still somehow made children. He lied to me just so I join the dark side!" and then he shouts at the emperor "No!". It would also make sense. I think that Vader's lines were hearthless and we're just like a robot, no emotions "Yes master. Luke, join the dark side.", and his "No!" seemed like the only time he showed a emotion like a real human since the emperor made him into a hearthless killing mashine.
I just wanted to thank you. I stumbled upon your RUclips channel, and you're the best dude. Please never stop making videos :) You've echoed my frustrations about the changes to the trilogy. I die a little bit inside every time I see Hayden superimposed on the other actor's body
In an Mark Hamill interview he stated that the colour of the blade changed because the Blue Lightsaber fell down when his Hand got amputated so he built his own
I never comment much on RUclips videos. But I wanted to thank you for a well presented and insightful series you've done, just binged all seven videos on the changes, and it's helped me decide NOT to show the changed versions of Star Wars to my younglings :) Well done, will check some of your other vids out.
Seeing your Blade Runner poster in the background as well as seeing your video of the Blade Runner 2049 video, I was wondering if you'd do a Blade Runner Changes series?
I don’t know if it’s just because I grew up with the special editions, but I love Vader’s “no”s. Hearing the first soft “no” is one of the most emotional and exciting moments in the whole saga to me. It gives me the same sense that I get from the Lando’s “yeehaw” and Han’s “let’s blow this thing and go home” before the death stars’ explosions.
Agreed. I grew up with it, and I like it. People who didn't grow up with it don't like it. Is it because they didn't grow up with it, or because it really is bad? Idk. People can hate it if they want, but I like it.
Some people think that Hello Greedo is over analyzing the Original Star Wars Trilogy. I completely disagree. I admire his love for these three amazing movies and how he looks at the smallest details to appreciate them. And these videos that look into the franchise as deeply as possible makes my love, appreciation, and just pure respect for these great films grow. Thanks Hello Greedo!
Johnny Doe it’s literally the last episode in his original trilogy changes series, I don’t think it’s “bullshit” if he spends 2 minutes explaining how/why he started this series
I agree with you, HelloGreedo. Darth Vader yelling no in ROTJ was very horrible. The silence was perfect because I was so surprised when he was struggling who to save and he chose to save his son. I love your videos and hearing all of your opinions. Don't listen to the haters. In my opinion, you're the one of the best RUclips channels I've ever subscribed to. Keep up the great work.
only thing that I hate about the original trilogy... obi wan vs Vader saber fight that looks ridiculous that looks like an old man poking someone with a stick XD even back then I was thinking that
+rafi syahrir That fight wasn't awkward at all. That's a type of real swordplay called "fencing". That's the swordplay that Lightsaber fights were based on, as well as Samurai fights from Kurosawa films. It's a hell of a lot better than seeing two guys flinging their lightsabers around like they're at a rave party. The fights in the prequels were so horrible because they were OVERLY choreographed. They were too fake, there was no tension.
gamephreak5 yeah I guess but somehow I see it strange for the first time. Especially the prequels saber fight, it's even worse and I find it more strange than the new hope one.
I like the prequel fights better than the ben vs vader one personally. They are both supposed to be strong but seemed really weak and sloppy. Looked like they were practicing how to fence.
i just realized that many christmas's ago i was a lucky many few to get the star wars limited edition trilogy that not only include the new changes but also the theatrical version with no changes it was awesome to find that out.
7:06 ... weird continuity mistake? what the poops??? The lightsaber color doesnt change, its an entirely different lightsaber all together... Did you not notice that hte handle of the blue lightsaber looks like Darth Vaders lightsaber? Being one of the earliest foreshadowings of Vaders role? Did you not notice that the lightsaber in Jedi looks exactly like Obi-wans, lukes mentor? Did you not notice... this scene? this entire scene in Jedi? ruclips.net/video/w-HFv6Ms1lw/видео.html Where Vader and Luke are talking, and vader is examining Lukes lightsaber. One of moments where Vaders humanity shines through? The moment where vader looks upon his sons lightsaber, and is proud of his son. and says explicitly "I see you have constructed a new lightsaber" As for the color chaning lightsaber in the special editions, this was actually not intentional. If you watch the special editions you will notice that the lightsaber is green at some points, and blue at the others. The reason it was incorrectly green in some versions was because of a coloring error, a testament to the half-hearted and half-assed nature of the special editions. Literally nobody rewatched the cut before sending it off to DVD to make sure everything was cool.
11:15 YES! finally someone else gets it! I've been getting sick and tired of the same "visual Noise" art style that's become popular in modern media. It's good to know you feel the same.
Am I the only one who doesn't really care about the changes at all? There are some changes I admit are a little stupid, but at the same time the movie and plot is still the damn same. Fucks sake. you people that are still living in the past need to grow up already.
Kyle Phantom This is the most stupid and insulting comment i ever read. Let's imagine that i want to add more color to "Mona Lisa" paint and change background does it make sense to you ? That's the same thing.
Ridgwaycer True, but mine was an example, Leonardo Da Vinci on the other hand, never ruined anything already done, by the way if you may come in Italy you can see also Michelangelo's works and many others things, the "opera prima" as we often say is always the best, because while doing it your emotions are different, from after
Jack C See The People vs GL doucmentry. Through new technology, we are able to see that some of the greatest works of art don't match the sketches underneath. Meaning the artist went back and made alterations to hide there mistakes. Same tactic, different medium. Plus Kyle is right. The changes aren't that drastic that they change the plot of the movie. Even with the whole Hon thing, he still killed Greedo. He could aimed for his hand to disarm him if he wanted to be the uber good guy and incapacitate him. Greeo's added shot changes nothing. If anything, it makes Han more of a badass for keeping his cool and forcing Greedo to blind fire. Also, the original credits are still in tacked. I checked. Any claims that the new dubs or the the inserted head overnight the original actors work are false. You will not find Haydans name in the credits in of RotJ in any edition of Star Wars. Plus, Shaw is remembered the most for his final moments with Luke alive, not for standing and smiling like an idiot for 4 seconds. I agree, some the changes are pointless, and some of them don't improve the film all that much, but none of them are so drastic that the entire story falls apart. Plus, in the internet age, people can look up the changes and make there own options. I for one would much rather see Ian McDerman in Empire than some shriveled monkey face.
That's kind what I meant dude, (plus i'm not a troll) i'm 20, i didn't grow up with the originals, i grew up the prequels obviously. I watched OT first on vhs before the prequels. (i love all 6 movies my favs are ROTJ and ROTS) So I never saw the OT in theatres cause IDK I wasn't alive at that time? My parents did, and my dad is more of a star trek fan, and he likes new and old, same with Star Wars. I told him about the prequel hate the changes hate, and said how I think "they need to grow up its a movie" if you know what i mean?
I would've already bought the blu Ray collection if it weren't for Vader yelling no in ROTJ. In my opinion it is the absolute worst change in the special editions. It ruins one of the very best scenes in the entire saga. And it pisses me off that for some reason, George didn't think the movie felt complete without it. If Vader being silent wasn't part of George's "vision" then why on earth didn't he have him yell no in the first place. It's a prime example that George changes things just because he can. If you asked him he wouldn't have a reason other than, "I feel it adds to the scene" even though you could ask anyone else on planet earth and they would say it detracts.
i downloaded all the saga, added deleted scenes that i thought needed to be in there , romoved jar jar completely thanks to your deleted scenes compilation
You are usually spot on with your Star Wars changes analysis, but you did make a huge error when talking about Luke's lightsaber in ANH. The 2004 DVD was a disaster because it made Luke's lightsaber (Anakin's lightsaber) GREEN! Now, you had a brain fart thinking that Luke's lightsaber changing to green in ROTJ is a continuity error. It isn't. Luke built a new lightsaber for ROTJ because he lost his original (Anakin's blue saber) when Vader cut off his hand in Cloud City! So the lightsaber in ANH and ESB SHOULD be blue and in ROTJ a DIFFERENT lightsaber is green. Surprising mistake on your part ;)
Martin Wenzel It's what I get for making a 'changes' video in a day, I suppose. Usually takes a week or so. Rush and rush and rush, and leave quality control in the dust. You're not the first to point it out, and rest assured you will not be the last haha.
Martin Wenzel Lukes (Anakins) lightsaber appears (lit) in two scenes in A New Hope. Obi-wans hutt, and the Falcon. In the first special edition, it was colored green in obi-wans home... but blue on the falcon. In the 2004 DVD release, it was colored blue in obi-wans home... but FREAKING GREEN on the falcon. The change in both versions was apparently unintentional, and was the result of something called a "color timing error" or something. In other words nobody re-watched the special editions after editing, and shipping them off to be distributed. its proof that it was done lazily.
Can someone tell me why everyone hates Vaders yell at the end of RotS, all my other friends have never said anything against it. I can only assume it is a handful of fans who found it funny said it so many times online it became "fact" The "Noooooo" shows Vader losing the one thing he cared about and no longer had anything left, he pretty much single handedly handed the galaxy over to the Sith and he and up believing he killed his wife.
drthsons Dot I think they simply think it sounds funny, probably because they're shallow people. If anyone thinks it's an overly melodramatic cheesy line, then they'd have to say the same about Luke doing it in The Empire Strikes Back, and most of the people trashing the prequels wouldn't dare profane against their holy trilogy. lol (To be fair though, some people still make fun of Luke yelling "No!") Every Star Wars film now has a character that says it at some point. I don't see why they have such a problem when Vader does it, either.
AbstractM0use here I will fill you in a little bit, Luke was in his teens or his early 20s during the original trilogy so him being a little emotional or worked up is kind of understandable when the only guy he knows for a couple light years dies on some random space-station, he might be a little emotional when he realizes that his father just tried to kill him, and wants to make him evil, and killed off his mentor, and cut off his hand. However this is Lord Vader we are talking about. He personally supervised the torture of Han, cut off his son's arm, attempted to freeze him in carbonate, and killed a former friend in cold blood rather than take him captive. Based on Vader's personality seen thus far he is a far cry from the emotional teen he was in episode 3. Having him use the same cry a second cry 14+ years later is just bad continuity. Using it in Return of the Jedi is not a good idea, dubbing it in later is even worse. The problem with it in the single scene in Revenge of the Sith is in the execution, hence why some people think it is funny. The scene was delivered so poorly and the scale of it so pitiful, Vader just stood there and flexed for a fairly long time, sure things broke, but there isn't a clear distinction of whether he was angry or sad that he killed his wife. In terms of scale it was a massive let down. What should've been a dark tragic ending ended up being punctured by a pitiful sound, but no emotion, no body language to tell what Vader was feeling, it just appeared poorly written. If he fell to his knees or something in shock it would be fine due to the dramatic clank to reaffirm that he is, in fact, a machine, but he just stands there moaning for a good three seconds. Most of the other screams are shorter or drawn out for epic effect. If they are drawn out for epic effect such as obi-wan's in episode 1 they are heavily complemented by the music to produce the dramatic effect. This one, which I would like to point out is the 4th one in the movie at this point, failed to include a musical force to cue the audience into the power of this realization, so the line fell flat. Some of the audience the line fell so flat it was funny, but they could not determine why. Hope I could clarify why some people don't like this dub and that scene.
I do believe the added NOOOO to RotJ is the stupidest thing imaginable and have no idea why they added it in. But I still genuinely feel that the one in Sith is perfect.
Matt Krause _"The problem with it in the single scene in Revenge of the Sith is in the execution, hence why some people think it is funny"_ That's pretty much what I said in the first place. People think it sounds funny. I can see why they do, but it doesn't bother me. The best thing to come from that was Robot Chicken's Little Palpatine torturing the cat with the emphasized "Meooooooow". lol _"However this is Lord Vader we are talking about. "_ When Vader decided to stop the Emperor and toss him into the reactor core, he was no longer Lord Vader, he was Anakin Skywalker again. The reason one character says it in each movie is because each film is supposed to rhyme, like poetry. Also, when he now says it again in RotJ, he's not in agony or despair, like when he was younger, this time he's defiant. Personally, I liked it better when he didn't say anything, and the music did the work, but I don't think it's ruined.
AbstractM0use No it is about making the audience think about the moment and about what's going through Vader's mind, the silence is perfect it builds up emotion.Adding no no NO is so cheesy, it's like Lucas thinks the audience is too dumb to comprehend "the moment" of what is happening.Maybe the younger generation can tolerate the change easier but for older folks that seen the original, It is the worst possible voice add in of all time! It's just adding in things to a scene to fill it in, Same as a lot of the cgi parts added in just for the hell of it because they probably thought, hey look there is a gap here lets add some more content.Touching up scenes and removing imperfections, adding more detail/colour, removing puppeteer's hands that were captured on film, improving sound effects I am all for thoseBut adding cheesy cgi and voice overs just for the sake of it ruins the film in my opinion.
Didn't think you'd be laughing at the end did you? Laughing so hard you can barely breathe. Was all this some big practical joke? I think we all went to see Revenge of the Sith just to get it over with, because you've been tricked twice already. It was like an obligation, like going to your stupid daughter's graduation ceremony, you know it's going to suck, but you gotta go anyway.
+Macconator2010 Me and the cinema I was at, were probably the only ones who didn't think Vader's NOOOO was funny. I liked it: it showed how angry he was with himself
As you already commented about Luke's new lightsaber, I just want to admire the cool story arc that it gave Luke. After he found out he was using his father's lightsaber and that Anakin would turn out to be evil, Luke decided to stray away from his father's path, creating his own lightsaber with a different crystal.
James Blair It doesn't interest me at all to be honest. I have digital copies of all of my physical copies. So, unless these specific digital version are going to be the unaltered original trilogy...I'm going to pass.
HelloGreedo I think that it's good that they're not adding anything. In every other release on a new platform, like DVD or Blu-ray, they've always changed it. But now, the changes seem to be stopping, which I consider to be good news. Although I guess this could have been expected now that George is gone.
Honestly I’m ok with the “Noo!”. I know some people absolutely hate it and find it crying but personally, it gave me chills when I heard it for the first time.
I am glad you have made these videos. Since I was born in 1996 and own the 2004 edition of the Original trilogy I did not know some of the drastic changes and manipulations in the movies. It is upsetting to see this I could not imagine what it was like to grow up when star wars began and to see this. Why would Lucas do this when he KNOWS the fans hate??
+King Kazma Well it was the loving creation of Lucas to begin with, that's undeniable. It wouldn't exist without him. Of course the cast and crew are almost just as important however, and it's definitely a team effort too.
***** Yeah Star Wars was deff a team effort, they wanted to pin the entire success on Lucas and that was a mistake, just like Akira Toriyama, he was more the funny side of Dragon Ball Z and now people are noticing it, the serious side of Dragonball Z was thanks to other people on his team. Same with Lucas, he was more into the silly side of Star Wars.
King Kazma Ah, well that'd make sense why the original Dragon Ball seemed like a more comedy oriented and light hearted kid adventure haha. I almost feel like that was what the prequels were missing though, more funny banter between the characters is pretty important
***** No, Lucas didn't write the witty stuff, that was another guy who left, just the silly stuff, Jar Jar, monsters going out of control, frogs burping ect... Like the Empires Strikes Back? Well Lucas didn't touch that one. Think Return of the Jedi was too silly in some areas? specially with the Ewoks beating up Storm Troopers? Yep the return of Lucas. Whet I find weird is Lucas says things about movies that contradict what he has done, like hes a hypocrite? In some areas anyways. But yeah that point is just one man doesn't make a movie or a game.
That last change was enough to make me lose interest in Star Wars. The original is infinitely better. You can see the internal struggle even through the mask. The change is like a bad punchline which for me robs the original trilogy of any power. It's worse than Greedo shooting first. All three movies have been building up to this moment and the tension just deflates the moment Vader speaks. Dick move, George.
I don't think there's been a director/writer that has imagined a more rich universe, then regretted and horribly modified it. If lucas had the technology he wished he had when making the original trilogy, it would have been just as bad as the prequels.
not just technology but the people who worked with lucas on the original trilogy were not a bunch of yesmens who agreed to every decision lucas made like the prequels. a great example was hans reply to leia when she said she loved him in empire strike back. han was supposed to say i love you too but harrison ford and irvin kitchener both realized how dumb that line was so they changed it to i know which is much better and more in character for han to say
I was almost ready to buy the set on blue ray. Luckily you saved me. Vader has been already ruined by one "NOOOOOO", but a second one? Seriously? The best scene of the entire saga ruined by a fucking yell. yay
Greedo shot first and the NOOO was kinda hilarious... BUT You would think that the creator and writer of the original movies that fans love so much should have the right to do whatever he wants with the series that he conceived, and the storylines that he put together. Sometimes Star Wars fans' nitpicking habit becomes a little too much. It's not like some outsider dictated these changes. Without the person they are bitching about this whole saga and the whole fandom wouldn't even exist. So take it for what it's worth and just quit being so easily offended.
+Caden Morse Yes, he was definitely within his rights to change his own film. The beef we all have is that his original vision of the first 3 movies was spot on. His changes were largely forced, unnecessary, and bewildering. It would be like da Vinci coming back from the dead now and adding lipstick to the Mona Lisa.
Plus what really makes a lot of us mad is that we can't get the original versions in restored digital quality. Only the crappy special editions are available.
+razorfett147 "his original vision of the first 3 movies was spot on" that's an opinion, and obviously not the opinion of the creator. As a creator myself. (I write and draw comic books) nothing we ever create is finished. We always see something we would have done differ, but, we have to come out with the product (deadlines and all) I don't think there's a single creator I've met that would change something about a work we've done. As we move forward and create moe, we learn more, and are always "seeing" things we would have done different. Do the fans always like it? No. But, an artist never thinks "l got it right, this is perfect" if we did, we would have nothing to keep us moving forward. That's the curse of being an artist/creator, the vision in our head is never what comes out on paper, or in a film makers case, what comes out on the screen. I once got over 100 pages into a graphic novel and then scrapped the whole thing to start over from page 1. The vision keeps us going
+Caden Morse I think South Park addressed this neatly. Star Wars and all the other our favorite movies dont belong to the directors, producers and so on. They Belong to us, the fans. We are the ones who these movies are made for. Not physically of course, but the very nature of these movies, their soul, their chemistry belong to us.
Great video! I love the series. Have you heard of Harmy's Despecialized Editions? They're a restoration of the original trilogy done by a guy named Harmy and a whole group of people. They are in HD and might be the closest we will ever get to the theatrical versions. Maybe you could do a review video about them
The 1 change that really pissed me off in Empire Strikes Back, when Vader just finished fighting Luke & and is walking back to his ship he says "Alert the star destroyer of my arrival." WHAT THE FUCK!!! In the original he was pissed Luke didn't join him and you heard his anger when he said "Bring me my Shuttle!" It was defiant in his tone!!! Great vid! I just had to rant about that little scene!
I hate seeing the same fucking example of a change in the movie in 5 out of 7 of the videos. Talk about more changes instead of lingering on the same ones.
The Hoth effects shots look clearer because they took the original film layers that were used to make the effects and composited them digitally which resulted in a cleaner final frame without the artifacts that the old optical compositing introduced. So while the scenes are sort of new, they're also not really new because they are made from the same raw effects footage as the original.
+Radomstuff1234 Except the prequels are terrible. watch Red Letter Medias youtube videos about the phantom menace. He rips apart the prequels and theyre all full of un needed shit and no story. not to mention no protagonist
+Radomstuff1234 Sorry, I won't subscribe until you agree with me, because everyone I watch must agree with all of my opinions so I'm always reassured that I'm right since I can't hold up my own beliefs.
The blu-ray lightsaber change does make sense, as he was using his father's BLUE lightsaber until he had his hand cut off, losing it in the process.
yeah that scene was from a new hope when he still had the blue lightsaber.
@@mutteringmushroom5103 that scene was from empire
@@victorbangle5050 The scene where luke is training he is using anakins lightsaber which is blue. He then loses it when his hand gets cut off in empire strikes back. Then at the beginning of ROTJ he build the green one.
Oh. Hi. No shit I know that Luke had a new lightsaber come ROTJ. You can write 3,000 words, and the only shit people will remember are your 6 word brain farts.
Greedo love the show, and when will you get around to finishing rebels?
Cry me a river! When you make this stupid a mistake, people are going to call you out for it. And just the fact that it followed a completely unoriginal speech about the cantina change, this really makes you look like you're repeating what you remem
Hehe, I see the Yoda voice auditions didn't really go through...
+Patrick Alexander Han dodges the shot, he saw it coming, if Han didn't dodge it Greedo would of gotten a headshot.
Greedo pulled out his gun Han pulled out his gun and shot him
Same, I hate it because of that.
Because han solo cant' be dead
It took me five seconds to realize this was a joke. That’s a problem you need to change your joke
This completely changed my perspective of Yoda. Thank you sir.
3:20 more importantly, how the hell did he get behind that rock? The opening is too small for him to fit through.
Venser ikr
There are 3 dimensions genius. You can only see 2. There IS a 'sideways' that your straight on view (apparently) cannot comprehend.
fzdreaddy no need to be a dick about it
Original Trilogy De-specialized. Really, you should all google it.
Yes. I still don't understand why people are watching The blu ray
I will check them out. Tbh its the first ive heard of them.
Daniel Collins Holy shit, thank you for that! I'm just browsing through the image gallery and the remaster is FUCKING INCREDIBLE
Gabriel Suarez
all 3 are on TPB so you use a torrent client
Daniel Collins Cool avatar. You don't actually own one do you?
I can get past all of these changes, but the Darth Vader "NOOO" change is just one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen
+evilsupernintendo84 maybe lucas' new goal is to be to star wars what schumacher was to batman
Even that one scene in Jabba's palace? Are you sure?
+evilsupernintendo84 I dont understand why people hate that scene
Vader screaming Noooo is the absolute worst change in the Special Edition.
It was this change alone that made me lose all respect for Lucas as a filmmaker. All I can say is thank God he no longer has control of this franchise anymore. I mean say what you will about Disney but I don't see them ever making dumb retarded decisions like this.
That and the god damn CG Jabba scene in ANH.
skekSo the Emperor OoOoOoh this hasn’t aged well
@@jerrell1169 yeah, oh how wrong we were. Amazing now everyone loves the prequels or at least respects them.
Actually the worst change has to be Jedi rocks
There's a deleted scene in the Blu-Ray collection where it shows Luke in a cave on Tatooine creating his lightsaber and putting it inside R2, which helps explain how R2 randomly shot out the green lightsaber in ROTJ.
+Jack Hayes It was obvious he planned it in advance. It was obvious he needed a new saber.
+Jack Hayes
This scene would have made the movie a WHOLE lot better, instead of us going "Where the fuck did that come from?" because I always thought I missed a scene or something.
3PO was there too
Personally, I loved the "NOOOOO!" at the end of Revenge of the Sith, as there's so much emotion in it.
"This was your father's lightsaber" His father's lightsaber is blue :/
Yeahhh I don’t get why he didn’t know that since he seems like a pretty hardcore fan
*was
Holy shit, these intros... Video actually starts at 2:46
thank you
Watch other people instead then
+David Sanden Oh no he gave negative feedback, he really has to get out of here and leave his remarks to himself.

It takes away the beautiful silent redemption, it was a fucking horrible change
obi wan's krayt dragon scream:
theatrical: scary as fuck dinosaur roar
blu-ray: drunk college kid running past a mic
😊🤣🤣
Listen to that stuffy cold-voice!
I think u commented on my star wars battlefront video earlier when my friend said it's all 4 fun and u said he had the right idea
I now know why the last scene of 7 was almost uncomfortably silent. to indirectly mock the new Vader scream.
+HelloGreedo what will you do now that your changes series is done
The ROTJ "Nooooo" is the single reason I will NEVER buy the Blu-Ray versions… honestly, this is even worse that the Han/Greedo scene.
that NO! line actually broke my heart and devastated me for a week after watching the Bluray version of Return, did I mention Vader's redemption is my favorite scene in the movie? yeah talk about adding salt to a wound
I'm now insanely grateful I didn't waste my money on the blu ray release.
LostMercenary99 It's still awesome though. It looks and sounds amazing. Like some have said "It's so good, I don't care about the changes anymore!"
Aaron Storm lili
***** Get over yourself
LostMercenary99 wrong. they look and sound great
I bet 10$ the next release will have Vader yell out "nothing can stop my lightsaber" when he battles Luke in TESB.
Yes!!! I love this series!!
Noah Caboose It's you again. :)
***** yes, stranger
Lucas: Should we edit the turning point of Vader in ROTJ for the blu ray release?
Editor: You mean the perfectly filmed, acted, edited and scored scene at the end where Vader turns on the emperor to save Luke?
Lucas: Exactly that.
Editor: NO! NOOOOOOOOO!!!
Lucas: Great idea, get to work!
Han Solo didn't shoot first! Han Solo was the only one who shot!
Shut Up EZIC
Until the blue ray came out xD
technically in both versions he shot last
Seeing some of these changes makes me really glad that Spielberg had the sense to not do something like this with the Indiana Jones films when they were released on DVD and Blu-Ray.
It's called all that pointless cgi in Krystal skull my friend
TheEvaGuy Good point, but I would rather deal with Chrystal Skull than see unnecessary changes in classic films I grew up with.
wcw2793
true, lets not tempt fate then
wcw2793 Spielberg isn't a spoiled child trying to ruin everyone else's fun, unlike Lucas.
Larry Cadden Wait...that was a real thing? I heard about it in a parody, but I didn't actually think it happened
It's a different lightsaber Luke uses in Jedi...
nugs1951 Duh, he loses his father's lightsaber in ESB.
Ironically when his father slices his hand off.
***** apparently darth vader does not approve of hand-me-down lightsabres...
Stormaggedon Dark Lord of All Luke, "Ow, why'd'ja cut off my hand?"
Vader, "Because Luke, I am your father, and I don't think you're old enough to play with grownup stuff."
Vader was at least silent in the 2004 dvd version. Why the hell should you change it only 7 years later?
Dialectical Monist Well, he did write and direct A New Hope.
***** He had a lot of help writing and directing that film man. If he had complete control, Star Wars would've been a disaster when it opened in 1977.
In return of the jedi, he had a new lightsaber, which was green. Up until then, he's had his father's lightsaber, which was blue. That's it, he made a new lightsaber after he lost the old one.
D Perete Probably just slipped his mind. He's human. :p
ItsMichaelReid No he's a Rodian.
Actually, in A New Hope Luke's lightsaber was only green for that brief shot in the 2004 Special Edition release
.n h.uio
+Clint Kiplinger it was accidentally made green in the 2004 special edition release but in a new hope of course I know his lightsaber is blue
My brothers and I were recently watching ROTJ and when we got to this scene we were relieved to discover we had an unaltered version. We saw it three times in a row just to appreciate the silence.
You missed one change where in the 97 version of Luke vs. Vader on cloud city where Luke falls down screaming.
+Andrew Schmitt yeah that was dumb, considering the fact it was the same yell of the emperor from RotJ...
That isn't in the Blu-Ray version
+Jake the Fruitcake what
It is in the original 97 version.
Yes that was a dumb change...Luke willingly jumps to his death, there can be no scream of surprise when you valiantly jump knowing you're most likely gonna die.
I almost forgot what the originals looked like. Thanks the gods for your work
"CGI dug Sebulba prequel Jabba's Palace change"
The way you said that. I lol'd.
Oh god. That last change you mentioned. It kills me. It's such a meaningful pause. I'm reallllllllllllllyyyyyy excited for a bluray release of the original UNEDITED trilogy.
Lucas want to make all the empty scenes dense. There's not quite enough going on.
Stfu
It's like poetry, it rhymes.
Jar jar is the key to all of this.
+IoST Jar Jar is stupid
It’s like he thinks the audience is a bunch of toddlers that needs constant jingle keys or something in front of them to keep their attention
Will always rewatch this playlist over and over
Also how did R2 get behind that rock?
Good point
Jack Wilcock See George Lucas didn't think it through.
Shhhhh, we don't talk about that.
Yeah, that's also what I'D like to know.
Maybe R2 was given Midichlorians in the Blu-Ray edition.
I couldnt agree more.
I just wanted to thank you. I stumbled upon your RUclips channel, and you're the best dude. Please never stop making videos :) You've echoed my frustrations about the changes to the trilogy. I die a little bit inside every time I see Hayden superimposed on the other actor's body
well dang it. Now I want to go watch Star Wars for the 600th time.
Too bad I left my copies back at my mother's
True. Maybe Disney will give it soon
er and little cheaper....wishing too big....

hmmm thank you
you are welcome
Thanks for showing us little slits of the scenes while you take up the whole screen. Brilliant
In an Mark Hamill interview he stated that the colour of the blade changed because the Blue Lightsaber fell down when his Hand got amputated so he built his own
no that's in rotj
I never comment much on RUclips videos. But I wanted to thank you for a well presented and insightful series you've done, just binged all seven videos on the changes, and it's helped me decide NOT to show the changed versions of Star Wars to my younglings :) Well done, will check some of your other vids out.
Amazing video as always! Love the series, keep up the great work! :D
Dude! I subbed you! Nice to see you!
Wow I just watched all 7 episodes. I never realized there were that many changes! These videos are very informative, thank you for making them.
Seeing your Blade Runner poster in the background as well as seeing your video of the Blade Runner 2049 video, I was wondering if you'd do a Blade Runner Changes series?
God fucking damnit I love these videos. Thank you for kicking so much ass HelloGreedo!
I think George deliberately but the Darth Vader "Noooooo" on purpose to piss people off.
Idk.
People can hate it if they want, but I like it.
ya know I wish this guy would start these changes right away not 3 mins in
Some people think that Hello Greedo is over analyzing the Original Star Wars Trilogy. I completely disagree. I admire his love for these three amazing movies and how he looks at the smallest details to appreciate them. And these videos that look into the franchise as deeply as possible makes my love, appreciation, and just pure respect for these great films grow. Thanks Hello Greedo!
To skip the bullshit go to 2:47.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I came here for what he promises in the title, not this... Whatever it is.
What bullshit
Yeah... Honest trailer would love to have its joke back...
I like the prequel fights better than the ben vs vader one personally. They are both supposed to be strong but seemed really weak and sloppy. Looked like they were practicing how to fence.
8:10 No. The shots are grayscale in space, which I think was stylistic but I never got either. It's not a compositing error, that's for sure.
i always thought the silence was kind of weird to me. lol but that's just me.
i just realized that many christmas's ago i was a lucky many few to get the star wars limited edition trilogy that not only include the new changes but also the theatrical version with no changes it was awesome to find that out.
7:06 ... weird continuity mistake? what the poops???
The lightsaber color doesnt change, its an entirely different lightsaber all together... Did you not notice that hte handle of the blue lightsaber looks like Darth Vaders lightsaber? Being one of the earliest foreshadowings of Vaders role?
Did you not notice that the lightsaber in Jedi looks exactly like Obi-wans, lukes mentor?
Did you not notice... this scene? this entire scene in Jedi?
ruclips.net/video/w-HFv6Ms1lw/видео.html
Where Vader and Luke are talking, and vader is examining Lukes lightsaber. One of moments where Vaders humanity shines through? The moment where vader looks upon his sons lightsaber, and is proud of his son.
and says explicitly "I see you have constructed a new lightsaber"
As for the color chaning lightsaber in the special editions, this was actually not intentional.
Shocker120 343 definitely needed to take this advice with Halo 4. :P
So the frowns of the stormtroopers armor being inconsistent matters to.you, but not the color of Lukes lightsaber?
Am I the only one who doesn't really care about the changes at all? There are some changes I admit are a little stupid, but at the same time the movie and plot is still the damn same. Fucks sake. you people that are still living in the past need to grow up already.
Kyle Phantom This is the most stupid and insulting comment i ever read.
Let's imagine that i want to add more color to "Mona Lisa" paint and change background does it make sense to you ?
That's the same thing.
Jack C To be fair, Da Vinci probably did alter the Mona Lisa a fair bit. Da Vinci said he regretted never completing a work.
HelloGreedo You're a genius. That's the same production method George Lucas uses.
HelloGreedo There is actually a deleted scene from ROTJ where Luke is finishing up his new lightsaber.
I'm absolutely in love with that "The Empire Strikes Back" poster in the background.
Can someone tell me why everyone hates Vaders yell at the end of RotS, all my other friends have never said anything against it. I can only assume it is a handful of fans who found it funny said it so many times online it became "fact"
The "Noooooo" shows Vader losing the one thing he cared about and no longer had anything left, he pretty much single handedly handed the galaxy over to the Sith and he and up believing he killed his wife.
drthsons Dot I think they simply think it sounds funny, probably because they're shallow people.

_"The problem with it in the single scene in Revenge of the Sith is in the execution, hence why some people think it is funny"_
That's pretty much what I said in the first place. People think it sounds funny. I can see why they do, but it doesn't bother me. The best thing to come from that was Robot Chicken's Little Palpatine torturing the cat with the emphasized "Meooooooow". lol
_"However this is Lord Vader we are talking about. "_
When Vader decided to stop the Emperor and toss him into the reactor core, he was no longer Lord Vader, he was Anakin Skywalker again.
Disney should ask hellogreedo to direct the changes if they make a new blu Ray edition like we're all asking for
Didn't think you'd be laughing at the end did you? Laughing so hard you can barely breathe. Was all this some big practical joke? I think we all went to see Revenge of the Sith just to get it over with, because you've been tricked twice already. It was like an obligation, like going to your stupid daughter's graduation ceremony, you know it's going to suck, but you gotta go anyway.
Nice RLM reference.
+Macconator2010 Me and the cinema I was at, were probably the only ones who didn't think Vader's NOOOO was funny. I liked it: it showed how angry he was with himself
+MoLetalis You're allowed to be wrong.
Omfg the way you describe Obi-wans' yell is so spot on and damn funny!
Im glad I didn't grow up with the blu ray
As you already commented about Luke's new lightsaber, I just want to admire the cool story arc that it gave Luke. After he found out he was using his father's lightsaber and that Anakin would turn out to be evil, Luke decided to stray away from his father's path, creating his own lightsaber with a different crystal.
Greedo shot first, I don't care what you say.
+Mike Mac Oh. So you don't understand the argument at all. I see it. Cool!
+HelloGreedo I'm like 98% sure he's kidding, or, of course there is that small 2% of a chance he's a total dumb shit.
+Mike Mac No, Hellogreedo shot first
+The Stickmation Production
Hellogreedo always shoots first.
+Mike Mac Religion in a nutshell
That black and white R2-D2 looks SO cool! I would buy that as a statuette anytime...
What are your opinions on Star Wars on digital?
James Blair It doesn't interest me at all to be honest. I have digital copies of all of my physical copies. So, unless these specific digital version are going to be the unaltered original trilogy...I'm going to pass.
HelloGreedo I think that it's good that they're not adding anything. In every other release on a new platform, like DVD or Blu-ray, they've always changed it. But now, the changes seem to be stopping, which I consider to be good news. Although I guess this could have been expected now that George is gone.
I can't believe Star Wars is just now getting a digital release. I thought they would have done that years ago.
brickman409 Well, I guess George is stubborn and now they can?
Search star wars despecialized on RUclips, and u will see why these new digital releases are useless
Honestly I’m ok with the “Noo!”. I know some people absolutely hate it and find it crying but personally, it gave me chills when I heard it for the first time.
#obicutsfirst
I am glad you have made these videos. Since I was born in 1996 and own the 2004 edition of the Original trilogy I did not know some of the drastic changes and manipulations in the movies. It is upsetting to see this I could not imagine what it was like to grow up when star wars began and to see this. Why would Lucas do this when he KNOWS the fans hate??
Whats up with all that noooo fetish Lucas had? Force Awakens delivered, cant wait to see more Lucas-less Star Wars.
GrimangelX4
Exactly, Star Wars was a team effort, yet people credit just Lucas? WTF
+King Kazma Well it was the loving creation of Lucas to begin with, that's undeniable. It wouldn't exist without him. Of course the cast and crew are almost just as important however, and it's definitely a team effort too.
*****
Yeah Star Wars was deff a team effort, they wanted to pin the entire success on Lucas and that was a mistake, just like Akira Toriyama, he was more the funny side of Dragon Ball Z and now people are noticing it, the serious side of Dragonball Z was thanks to other people on his team.
*****
No, Lucas didn't write the witty stuff, that was another guy who left, just the silly stuff, Jar Jar, monsters going out of control, frogs burping ect...
The change of the Ewok’s blinking as they blinked I blinked at the same time.
September 27 is my b day, thanks for the present?

Hellogreedo your first ever changes ep came out on my birthday September 27. Keep the videos coming my stoormtroper
0:50 What has been seen cannot be unseen.
I don't think there's been a director/writer that has imagined a more rich universe, then regretted and horribly modified it. If lucas had the technology he wished he had when making the original trilogy, it would have been just as bad as the prequels.
+Carl Roth Agreed.
not just technology but the people who worked with lucas on the original trilogy were not a bunch of yesmens who agreed to every decision lucas made like the prequels. a great example was hans reply to leia when she said she loved him in empire strike back. han was supposed to say i love you too but harrison ford and irvin kitchener both realized how dumb that line was so they changed it to i know which is much better and more in character for han to say
The new yell from Ben is the funniest thing I've heard haha
I enjoyed Revenge of the Sith
I can't wait for part eight
alright already, do we really need to go over your life's story everytime you present a scene?
I was almost ready to buy the set on blue ray. Luckily you saved me. Vader has been already ruined by one "NOOOOOO", but a second one? Seriously? The best scene of the entire saga ruined by a fucking yell. yay
Greedo shot first and the NOOO was kinda hilarious...
BUT
You would think that the creator and writer of the original movies that fans love so much should have the right to do whatever he wants with the series that he conceived, and the storylines that he put together.
Maybe you could do a review video about them
Good videos, but damn your intro's are just way too long man.
Sorry I won't subscribe until you say the prequels were not that bad
+Radomstuff1234 Except the prequels are terrible. watch Red Letter Medias youtube videos about the phantom menace. He rips apart the prequels and theyre all full of un needed shit and no story. not to mention no protagonist
+Choppy i totally agree!
+Radomstuff1234 Sorry, I won't subscribe until you agree with me, because everyone I watch must agree with all of my opinions so I'm always reassured that I'm right since I can't hold up my own beliefs.
+104DudeCS I love you
+104DudeCS you're completely right
I yelled, "NO!" With Vader in the scene too, although for a different reason. Just Vader looking back and forth was perfect.
Take off your helmet.
+N Holt He said he will only do that if he gets 1 million subs.
that scream is so hilarious. It goes on and on and then it sounds like someone drops in a echo-chamber
