Every bar in the galaxy is Glup Shitto city.
Salacious B. Crumb has always been my favorite random side character because I laugh like him when I'm really drunk
Funny because i laugh like Nein Nub when im dtunk
I totally forgot about him! He's the little dude next to Jabba right? I absolutely love that name!
I start talking like Yoda when drunk.
@@LordSlevenme too. Just sounds so sleazy, yet so sophisticated
I love this video so much, it’s ike 75% nonsense. “Gooba the snelmar was a close friend of junta clumpa and loonis maruvish the jamorkinian. He lived on Tawanda and spent most of his life as a gean tramper”
😂
I heard that he was an associate with Glup Shitto at one point

I love that the most random ass characters will get fleshed out stories.
Like "that dude who died in the podrace that we saw for like 2 seconds? Yeah his family was right there and later his son outlawed Pod racing in the core worlds"
Like oh ...ok😂
@@francescapatti2934 The moment a random Podracer has more character development than Ray Palpatine
The fact that I knew, like, at least 2/3 of these proves that I have suffered an incomprehensible amount of brain damage at the hands of this franchise. Honestly I think I have grounds to sue George Lucas
Same but also this is the part of the SW fandom I actually LIKE
Glup Shittos are so fucking fun and the INSANE stories in legends, canon and scrapped stuff just is so much fun to comb through.
1000% better than annoying discourse about which force user is stronger or which medium is the best thing ever made so much so that God is weeping with joy and which is literal trash (the fact that the answer COULD BE "depends what you like" does not cross the minds of people who argue like this)
I am sorry for the rant but the SW fandom makes me mad sometimes 😂
No one forced brain damage upon you, you chose it. Stop blaming others for your f*ck ups in life.
The Bigger Luke theory could easily be explained as being Mark Hamill, Luke's cousin who we meet in Episode 417 of The Muppet Show.
you forgot the most obscure Star Wars character… Indiana Jones
He's played by the famous starge hands Harrison Ford 😂
Don't forget about the unused "Space Man" character from the LEGO Complete saga.
Indiana Jones had a comic cross over with Han Solo and Chewie once.
@@ahmedshaharyarejaz9886 that’s the joke
This guy is with it
Always found it really cool and hilarious that almost every background character who has a few seconds of screen time has their own backstory. And is what made me come up with imaginary characters in primary school.
I think that’s why Star Wars is so popular
Having so much lore makes a univers really feel real, there's nothing, or almost nothing, that has no explanation or history in universe
@@NIX-FLIX yeah, it's just so much in Star Wars, expanded universe and all that.
"their own backstory" is a bit generous for character blurbs that were just supposed to be short descriptions of the appearance and feeling of a character, and was then later reused by a lazy writer to legitimate their own work.
@Kristof-cl4df exactly, the SW universe has genuinely taken on a life of its own, first with legends, then fan films and now the Internet, It's a weird kind of evolution lol, in that characters popular with fans become more and more popular and their characters even evolve and change, sometimes done from the top by Lucasfilm sometimes spontaneously by fans. Some random student somewhere has likely written a paper about how and why this happens lol😅
Tarkin being the sugar daddy of a young stormtrooper aspiring to build a mouse droid racing track on coruscant is the most amazing star wars story I‘ve heard and tbh would fit way more into Thrawns characterisation actually.
“Proboscis Luke” sounds like some straight up SCP bullshit.
Fr, it's like those SCP about cursed tapes like the one with one of the USA presidents being cut.
Well it's a creepypasta, that's why
@@mrheherdisruptor8975 Except the infamous Ronald Reagan SCP tape had extra context that made it disturbing.
I watched a fan edit of Proboscis Luke and it actually made me laugh.
@@skylerholmes571 True, Proboscis Luke is only creepy in paper while you read it with some shitty creepy music.

I think he actually got the most screen time in the Clone Wars of all the Separatist council members.
One Glup Shitto that needs to be mentioned is R2-KT! She's a pink colored R2 unit that was built as kind of a Get Well Soon present for a young cancer patient named Katie Johnson, whose favorite color was pink. After Katie sadly passed, R2-KT continued to be used to bring hope and joy to young patients in hospitals, and eventually was brought into canon in several Clone Wars episodes!
That is so sweet
is that the pink droid that laughs with R2 in the movie, Clone Wars , from 2007 or 8
Didn't she also appear in Ep7?
@@futuramayeah yes!
I feel bad having the word "shit" associated with R2-KT tbh.
But ultimately I agree. Its so bittersweet.
One of those times where humanity makes me insanely happy with such a sweet gesture.
Referring to a type of background character as a “glup shitto” is peak comedy and how ill be referring to the background characters in my own life from now on
I think one of the reasons Glup Shitto type characters are so prominent in the Star Wars fandom is because of the toys. Kenner made SO many characters into figures, regardless of screentime or relevance and Hasbro kept up the tradition when they picked up the line. So people often get attached to these random nobodies because they had a cool toy of them that they went on many imagined adventures with.
A personal example for me would be Rum Sleg. Extremely minor background character in The Phantom Menace, but he had an action figure that I loved because of how sick he looked. If you make a sequel to this video, I'd love to see him included.
So true
I owed literally 5 Star Wars action figures and one of them was Woodrow Hill, I have no idea why.
The other four were Yoda, CP30 in the Ewok Chair, Zuckuss, & 4-Lom
I discovered some funny names from the lego game as a kid
I remember having a figure of Sebulba with his pod racer and running around my house with it lmao, younger me really loved racing him against older anakin pre-darth vader and Luke in his x-wing.
Honestly I love how many characters get expanded on in SW, it really makes the universe much bigger than any one story or setting. Like one giant sandbox!
Also, the nobody characters end up in the bargain bin and you could buy a bunch and burn them, DIY special effects that wouldnt cost too much
I find it hilarious how he can say glub shitto so many times without laughing
It’s GLUP shitto with a *P* get it right
@@TonySoprano-vy7kdhonestly glub shitto sounds funnier
If you say it enough times it eventually sounds like a real character.
I was laughing SO hard at the initial explanation 😂
28:34 Yoda speaks the way he does because he’a one of the oldest living things in the galaxy. One of the oldest functioning droids,Hu-Yang also speaks with the same dialect occasionally which has led fans to believe that Yoda speaks in a older form of galactic basic. Imagine talking to someone who had been born in the 1850’s and how they would kinda speak our language, but in the way it was spoken at the time.
That's actually really interesting to think about.
Wasn't it Because he was honouring his old master?
@SourChicken1856 this is the Canon reason, yes
But when Yoda encounters Darth Bane on Moraband, Bane speaks normally?... Bane is already older than Yoda in Legends, and in canon he might be even older, so what's the deal with that?
@SourChicken1856 well his old master couldve talked an older form
I was NOT prepared to learn that Tarkin was a Stormtrooper Sugardaddy

I cannot believe I just watched a feature-length Glup Shitto iceberg, bravo
Imagine if, in The Rise of Skywalker, they gave Dathan three eyes and then just...didn't acknowledge it.
Honestly would make it better
imagine making it like in Doctor Strange, he would fall to his knees in front of little Rey and she would be like: what is wrong daddy and then suddenly all of his three eyes would open up and would start screaming into her face, I dont know if it would be hillarious or absolutely horrifying
If they did it with practical effects it would be quite grotesque
I like to imagine that's like Daisy on Super smash bros Melee, with an eye on the back of the head that ins visible
TK 421 having a secret relationship with Grand Moff fucking Tarkin is making me lose my mind rn, I can't believe this is real
Neither could he... mainly cuz he was getting his brains fucked out but still
Bro imagine getting assassinated by a hyper intelligent pitbull
I think the best example of a Glup Shitto is by far Nien Nunb, a weird alien that an average fan would probably be like “ohhh… that guy.”
Even though proboscis luke is kinda silly, the story itself is actually kind of unsettling
agreed
It honestly just sounded like a strange Creepypasta
A great example of a glub shitto character is the skull that Luke used to smash the control panel in the rancor pit. They went back and made an obscure story of the character and how he ended up in jabbas rancor pit, leaving his skull behind for Luke to use. (I haven’t finished the video if this character is mentioned in it)
Bidlo Kwerve, I was actually expecting him in this video
Half the time this guy gets brought up, it's accompanied with "Did you even know that was a skull? I thought it was just a rock!" 😂
Man "from a certain point of view" is insane. The garbage worm is a force user? Tarkin is gay? What is happening
I don’t know if it’s canon (and I hope it’s not). Tarkin willingly had an entire planet killed and sends troopers off to their deaths willingly. There’s no way he’d have any romantic capacity whatsoever.
They occupy an ambiguous place in canon. I mean, you can say anything in Star Wars is "canon" or not depending on if you like it.
@@joshslater2426 Hitler had a girlfriend.
From a certain point of view is AMZING.
I love when star wars is like this.
Its genuinely one of the things I love.
Like sure the worm is force sensitive why not😂 I just like random ass silly things.
Also I think Tarkin being gay or bi or sth isnt that strange? I mean definitely not on the same tier as "force sensitive space worm" or the random paragraph long backstories to the most random side characters.
@@joshslater2426 Yeah Tarkin is a fucken weirdo...
But counter argument(??) Or rather why I think it makes sense
1) it doesnt have to be love maybe Tarkin is just horny
2) reading it I very much get thid gross exploitative vibe. Ofc the power imbalance is there but also just how TK forgot his number thinks of the whole thing is like concearning to say the least
3) it reminded me of real life Nazi and head of SA Ernst Röhm who was allegedly homosexual (ya know with the empire being space Nazis and all)
4) heartless genocidal maniacs arent often very consistent or very LOGICAL. So him having feelings for the Trooper while also committing atrocities isnt too weird to me🤷
But most of all I like it bc its a random lore tidbid and I think its funny😂
What I think is funny, Boba Fett is technically a Glub Shitto.
He's not a background character though, he's a function-character originally. So a secondary character yes, but without him the film doesn't work. Glub Shittos are entirely unneeded and obscure, they don't even get named. He's on the same level as Jabba or Shmi. Important secondary characters who fulfill an important function in the story. Boba Fett's backstory and lore were substantially expanded in subsequent Star Wars films but it doesn't make him a Blub Shitto.
The real Glub Shitto bounty Hunter is that killer robot we just see for a second in the film and became a character in the Mandalorian.
Could every bounty hunter on the lineup in empire besides Boba be considers a Glub Shitto@@Ezullof
@@yeticonfettisthey could, but since it was Boba that actually captured Solo and took him to Jabba he played an important role, the other hunters are just in that one scene and don’t show up again
@@yeticonfettisall of them except for bossk, I think because he has a couple of clone wars episodes focus on him
@aboxoftissuesdude5810 Bossk would still be a "Glub Shitto" as of Empire Strikes back.
I think another defining feature of a Glub Shitto is that their names isn't spoken in the film, either only showing up in the credits relling us who was in the suit/costume, writen on concept art/in script notes, or even not having one until a toy needed one.
Glub Shitto Lore is like finding a grand tower, easily taller than most manmade structures, but having it buried so deep to the point that only its uppermost apex peaks from beneath the dirt.
Lateral Story telling at its most marvelous in terms of scale, but done in such a way that feels pointless, anachronistic, and confused for even existing; but still infinitely fascinating and awe inspiring for its mere existence.
I'm forever impressed and baffled by people's ability to create goofy sounding names.
This video just makes me hope we still get “A certain point of view” novels for the prequels and even sequels! So many jedi, background characters, and aliens that deserve some more love and stories in the background of the movies
Same! I wonder if they'll do something this years since it's the 25th anniversary of The Phantom Menace
I need more Shaak Ti content. I wanna know what her thoughts and feelings on the Clones are.
STARWEIRDS LOL
Literal jumpscares floating around in space.
Those are literally the only things in all the star EU that legit freak me out. Granted they say it's a bad idea to look out the windows while in hyperspace anyway, the fact that they can just float outside your window and attack your ship is freaky.
Five Nights at the Galaxy
Dude, I remember when I was younger I had this book called the Star Wars Character Encyclopedia, and a good chunk of the characters at the beginning of this iceberg were in it. Every time one of them showed up, I popped off a little bit cuz I actually _knew_ who they were! What a weirdly nostalgic experience. Awesome video man! :D
I also had thst book it's practically the definitive glup shitto encyclopedia
You’ve just caused my brain to experience overwhelming nostalgia, I’m like, 99.9% sure I had that book growing up, hell, it’s gotta still be around here somewhere.
It was so much fun seeing characters showing up for a few seconds while rewatching the movies after I’d learned their names and backstories
Omg I had that book too. It made watching the prequels with me really annoying lol
I ALSO DID, i was super young and loved the book so much
That book is so good, but my spine is giving out on it unfortunately
I can't believe my favourite character in all of fiction Lobot wasn't in the video

A personal theory about Jedi Bob: I think, Jedi Bob shouln't be a human, but a Mirialan instead, so when Lego would do another figure of him, they wouldn't have to change his skin.
Mirialan?
@@Sigma_Male_Anti_Female The same species as Luminara, Barris, and the Seventh Sister.

1. Orn Free Taa
2. Dexter Jettster
3. The Galactic Jizz Wailers (precursor to the Max Rebo Band)
4. IG88 and all the single scene bounty hunters from Empire Strikes Back
5. Captain Antilles
yeah we definitely need Zuckuss and 4-LOM in the next one
Did you typo that? Ain't no way they're called the jizz wailers
Not seeing Dex here was surprising
I love Zuckuss
I can’t believe for Nien Nunb you didn’t bring up his playable appearance in Battlefront 2015. The fan reaction to his reveal alongside Greedo was hilariously negative, until they actually came out and instantly became fan favorites. I think the game really helped launch Nunb into the modern spotlight
This sounds like Patrick Bateman typed this.

shaak ti also features prominently in the 2003 2d clone wars cartoon, where she's one of very few jedi to survive a battle against grievous, who was significantly more powerful in that cartoon
Sadly she did both survive and did not survive her last encounter with grievous
2003 Grievous was both way more powerful and way funnier.
Like he was a real critter type mf. Like straight up a creepy crawly.
I love Grievous bc hes always just kinda THERE. Like hes brutal, but in my mind hes always been the least memorable of the more important SW villains.
Sometimes Inforget he exists.
Hes cool tho and I like that hes straight up fucking BRUTAL

You know you’ve watched too much Starwars when you can name everyone on the thumbnail.
The Cantina Aliens will always be my favorite group of Glup Shittos. My dad showed me Star was when I was 5, in preparation for seeing Episode 3 in theaters. 4-6, then 1 and 2. I know everyone has their favorites, but I think everything about episode 4 is great. Everything felt alien, familiar, fantastical, and normal.
A rare non - toxic star wars youtuber emerges. Love to see it.
they win by making you think you’re alone
I genuinely don’t understand why people complain about extended Star Wars being “silly” when the mainline stuff has characters called Count Dooku
Wait until you meet his brother King Prince.
If you think about it, Boba Fett was the first ever Glup Shitto.
I really like this video! It’s refreshing having a calm Star Wars RUclipsr who covers both canon and legends without inserting “hot takes”. I love the music too!
the power of positivity and copyright-free music
I love that you stayed in character for the entire Jeans Guy segment
There is nothing better to me in all of Star Wars than those moments when a certified Glup Shitto goes "hehehehe" 😂 I can't explain why but it's just so funny.
I am In shambles that the clone trooper who punched that battle droid Was not here
Random thought after hearing the bit about Podracing being banned in the core worlds. Palpatine decides to reinstate it, and promote it. He would enjoy the violence of it, citizens of the empire would have something to distract them, and he also knew it would provoke strong feelings from Vader. Vader decides to enter the race, after palpatine makes several comments about him losing a great deal of his skill, and annihilate everyone. Basically the total opposite to how Anakin raced. 🤔 I'd read that story.
ive been watching this in the background and fucking LOST it when bigger luke showed up and then died when proboscis luke showed uo right after; this is now my favorite iceberg video. maybe one of my favorite video on youtube.
The fact that Klod was a case of mistaken identity.... Like mistaken for whom?? Like imagine, if it was just a human looking character... named Claude. And therein lay the mixup.
I love that this video isn't hateful towards any particular star wars trilogy. As someone who likes the first 2 sequels films, its almost impossible to find content on star wars that doesn't randomly take time to shit on everything sequels. And even commenting that you like them somewhere gets you in trouble with the prequels police. So yeah, thanks for the excellent video!
Nothing but love and positivity here! For me, Star Wars is nothing but fun - and I want my videos to reflect that
As someone who doesn't particularly care about Star Wars, this video really held my attention from start to finish. Hats off to you.
EDIT: Corrected a typo.
Same! I just wanted something on to quiet my mind for a bit. Mission accomplished and then some!
This is the perfect topic for an iceberg video
Bro, the Klaud section gave me a good belly laugh I haven't had for a while. Thank you.
I love how Proboscis Luke is capitalized. Like, it's not just Luke with a trunk, it's a whole distinct alter ego that needs his own name.
I run a lot of D&D games and the Glup Shitto method is a lifesaver. Give them one weird feature and players will latch on like bebes to a teet.
My go to rule for background character interactions is the briefcase woman from Total Recall. He gets a call from someone using a payphone outside, who leaves a case for him to collect. But when he goes to do it, some lady has grabbed it, yells "finders keepers" and he has to awkwardly yoink the case from this old woman in public. It adds nothing to the story, nothing to his character, but it's just something interesting to do in a moment that would otherwise have just been a boring establishing shot.
One of my favourite items is the Immovable Rod. There are so many unique uses for it, but my team used it to prop up a sign, which then fell over. When they came back there were kids jumping on and hanging from the floating rod.
A good story makes the tiny transitional moments interesting
There is a similar phenomenon in D&D to the Glup Shitto phenomenon, often referred to as the Boblin the Goblin, where the players latch onto a random set-dressing character mentioned offhandedly, forcing the DM to hastily come up with a name and backstory for them on the spot, usually at the expense of the players disregarding the obvious plot-hook character.
Dm: "accross the bar you see a mysterious cloaked figure beckoning to you"
Player: "who else is in the bar?"
Dm: "uh I dont know, a goblin"
Player: "what's the Goblin's name?"
Dm: "....umm...Boblin?"
Player: "I talk to Boblin the Goblin"

Disappointed that lobot, 4lom, zuckuss, boolio, malakili, and ello asty arent here
Also for an extremely obscure character. In return of the jedi there was a cut character that was a man covered in lights and is often called "lightman" and would have appeared in jabbas palace
Also thank you for mentioning proboscis Luke

Great suggestions! Those will have to be in Episode II! Lobot was actually cut from the early draft of the script, along with Biggs and Jek Porkins, but I think I'll include them next time.
@@TheVomcharTVJerec would also be a great inclusion. He's such a powerful dark jedi who was in star wars dark forces 2 jedi knight yet almost no one knows who he is. It's also a fun game and his other 6 servants are interesting too.
@@TheVomcharTVIf you ever do a part 2 you have to include Constable Zuvio who had a grand total of 7 frames of screentime in the force awakens
I'm still confused and curious about what exactly lightman was supposed to be,

(Exactly what the practical effect was)
Or if he was a sentient vaguely man shaped ball of light
Star Wars fandom is like a hive mind. I’ve never heard of the term Glup Shitto until this video, but based on context clues, I already knew what it meant before you explained it 😂😂

As a kid I got to go to Celebration IV way back in 2007 celebrating the 30th release of A New Hope, my favorite cosplay there was a dude cosplaying as Elan Sleazebaggano that had a cardboard sign hung over his chest saying "Currently rethinking life"

Glup Shitto are an inherently funny set of words
What a missed opportunity to not call them "The Knights who say Ren".
Funny thing about Yoda's iconic speech pattern: in The Empire Strikes Back, he has a LOT of lines where he speaks normal Basic without any weird grammar. It's about 50/50, even. It was the Prequels where he started doing it 100% of the time even when it results in near nonsensical delivery.
I love Glup Shitto! He was in that one scene and just stood into the background! Sooooo cool!
I feel like strong fandoms with long gaps between official media produces the Glup Shitto phenomenona.
I've noticed it in the Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel famdom too.

Teek is an icon, a friend and a deity. Praise Teek. 🙏
I really like the idea of a force-sensitive astromech droid. That's a fun little short story.
One I’d like to throw in that might count:
Jessika Paava (spelling might be wrong) was a Resistance pilot and member of Poe’s squadron in the Force Awakens, who gets a few lines during the battle on Takodana, and is the player 2 character in the first Lego adaptation of the film.
After the Force Awakens released, a notable number fans took to shipping her with Rey, resulting in a few dozen works of fan art that is in my opinion, adorable
Glup Shitto is in every movie and show. They're holding the camera.
the fact that the Knights of Ren are effectively Glub Shittos is absolutely TRAGIC, oof.

The phrase "the ever-elusive Glup Shitto" is really something you could only hear in a Star Wars video

Fun Babu Frick factoid. JJ Abrams is a fan of electronic music. (He named a planet, Kijimi, after a rare high-quality synthesizer.) There’s a popular underground electronic music group from Germany called Brandt Brauer Frick. It is quite possible, even likely, that Babu Frick’s name is taken from that group.
I'm OBSESSED with the alternate concept design for proxy, that would have been so so cool.
I know next to nothing about Star Wars, and every time you earnestly say glup shitto slays me
i just want to shout out my personal glup shitto, Skoova Stev (the little fisherman from Jedi: Survivor). finding him in random locations across the galaxy was genuinely my favorite part of the game (and i *thoroughly* enjoyed the game)
LMFAOOO bigger Luke has me LOSING it 😂
I never liked the wookie Jedi from the clone wars but tbh his return in bad batch kinda made me appreciate his character. It’s always nice to see what happened to characters over the shift from republic->empire
Im surprised R2-KT or Gary the Stromtrooper were not on this list.
My favorite Glup Shitto is Wedge Antilles, mf survived both death star battles, in which the second he destroyed and survived
He’s unironically one of the most badass non-Jedi characters of the whole series ngl
