Thank you so much! I absolutely love splashing, and being free with the brush strokes, and colours. I'm glad it comes across in the video! I find that if I've been loose and free during painting, then even if I don't like the outcome, I always feel like i've had the best time.
Kate I think you are one of the most underrated artists on RUclips. I think your process is every bit as interesting as Housesketcher and James Gurney. I honestly don’t understand why your RUclips doesn’t have hundreds of thousands of subscribers. I joined your Patreon and realize that you don’t post much there but I will remain subscribed for a bit just as a token of appreciation.
Thank you so so much for this wonderfully encouraging comment. It's made my year! I'm not familiar with Housesketcher (I'll have to check it out!), but I love James Gurney. Truly a compliment! As for Patreon, I'm sorry you were greeted with nothing. I had put in hours upon hours of time with content for Patreon, and became quite discouraged with the response. I removed most things, and wanted to take a step back and reevaluate where my time/effort was better spent. But I'm SO thankful for your token of appreciation, and your support. It means so much.
I definitely love your style, and especially your colour mixes which are very rich without ever being garish. Another little gem of a sketch and as always a great source of inspiration.
By the way, I noticed that you renewed your paint water halfway through. Any tips for disposing of dirty water when painting outdoors ? Do you carry a waste water container ?
@@erickn Fortunately a lot of the places I go either have a trash can near by, or some sort of grassy/mulch area. I do remember I once used an empty water bottle when there was nowhere else to dispose of it.
thanks Kate! this is really good! I have learned so much just from watching your vids...I love your loose style and this is what I am trying to achieve as a beginner at urban sketching..I actually do very realistic pet portraits but sketching is my new challenge so I hope u will keep sharing..love all your finishing touches too!
Thank you so much. I'm really glad i'm able to help with your new creative challenge! I love loose style sketching, so it feels good to share! Thank you for the support. I appreciate it! :)
Love it! You made it look way more interesting than the original building. Can you tell me what brush you used for the palm trees? It looked different.
Thank you so much! The brush I used for the palm trees, is one of my favourites for painting foliage. It's a white hair sumi brush. It should've been in the description box so ty for reminding me! These are similar :amzn.to/2YtXTNm
@@erickn Oh gosh. Yes! I once lost that brush, and was devastated. I did eventually find the right replacement. But my brushes are an extension of myself! It's all very eccentric 😂
Love it! More. Such fun to watch you paint and splash and keep it fun and free.

I enjoy your urban sketches. You're really talented! ❤

I am learning so much from your videos. How do you decide what colors to use together?
I'm so glad! Honestly, I think it comes from practice, and trial and error

I agree! Kate's interpretation of the building gives such character and a joyful spirit! Thanks, Kate.
@@KateBauerArt thanks for the link to the brushes! ( sorry, I didn’t check the description box 🤪)
