Great sketches and ideas. Let me suggest that all architecture students learn to draw to-scale figures in their sketches of buildings and interiors. Figures help to establish scale and add livability to the architecture. Empty buildings aren't profitable. Try it.........
Thank you!! Yes you're absolutely right. The reason I haven't been practicing in that sketchbook is because I have another sketchbook entirely for figure drawings and drawings from live drawing classes but still.. I will start adding them to my concept perspective sketches. Thank you for the reminder :)
Surviving Architecture, sounds like you are on a good path. I have found that clients that can picture themselves and their staff or customers in your newly designed environments whether inside or outside are more likely to buy into your designs. Correctly proportioned figures showing actions in your design accomplish that. Keep practicing😀
Surviving Architecture..........started as a licensed landscape architect in 1977 with a Federal agency and designed visitor complexes, relocated villages and towns and recreation facilities in a 13 state region. Spent a lot of time working with engineers and architects on LARGE projects and fortunately had the ability to sketch 3dimensional ideas with figures that portrayed new ideas to the team and the clients. Retired last year but still work on AIA Livable Communities team as the lead LA.
Wow that's impressive! I love landscape architecture and I am currently looking at projects for my own designs. Anything of your work I can find online :) ?
i have a question. what type of paper/ paper weight do you prefer or suggest for a sketching begginer? mainly for pencil and ink sketching. i am searching for something smooth. and can be used for pencil layering, easy to erase with no marks, and does not bleed ink on the other side ? thnx
very inspired with your sketching book!!!! keep it up:) it would be really helpful if you come up with some architectural software videos also, like photoshop, revit , 3ds max , etc.
Hi I am a AutoCAD draftsman who willing to learn Architecture and improve skills in AutoCAD draftings. I wonder how to produce technical detailed drawing for parametric design building such as Architect Zaha Hadid and Architect Frank Gherry
Thank you!! Never heard someone describe my work as elegant although I try to be :) I haven't been graded for this separately as I have been graded for the whole module and I got 84 :) aiming for over 90 this semester. I wish you best of luck :)
Surviving Architecture also I’m in Year 10 (10th grade) and I was wondering what classes I should take for college, what skills I should develop and will need such as presentation, photoshop, sketching, rendering, sketch up etc.and lastly what GCSEs should I focus getting high grades on ?
So I asked my friend for advice about this topic because I studied my GCSEs in the middle east. So my friend studied, product design as GCSEs which would help for model making and creativity, using sketchup and Photoshop etc. Any art related course would help, graphic design for Photoshop and other design related software, but remember maths, English and science are also important as they will help with presentation, understanding principles of architecture design and materials of buildings and try to get work experience. Always carry a sketchbook with you and just doodle and have fun wit art. You can also watch RUclips videos and just learn a few basics of everything you are curious about. Hope it helps :)
incredible sketchbook!, do you mind if i can use some of your ideas on my sketchbook? (not completely) im currently in year 12 (sixth form) studying art :D
