As a retired licensed mechanic I thoroughly enjoyed the video. However, if I am permitted, I like to add the following comments. 1) When removing wheel nuts, pushing on the breaker bar is easier than pulling. One’s body weight along with gravity can be very helpful. 2) A hose on the bleeder valve and an empty plastic bottle can avoid brake fluid mess. 3) Rotors should only be rotated in the direction of forward moving of vehicle when adjusting brake shoes. 4) I am surprised the 1A auto shop does not require wearing protective glasses. 5) Lastly the calipers should NEVER be hung from their hose. Proper bleeding should have been done as well.
She's 100% correct. I highly recommend opening the bleeder screw before compressing the caliper piston. That's how I was taught. The abs brake fluid system IS made to flow in one direction. If you push the caliper piston in without opening the bleeder, you could cause damage to the abs fluid system.
Just a quick question for anyone. The way she opened the bleeder valve and then closed it (when pushing the piston back in) was that the proper way? I’ve just heard of air going into the ABS can be bad reason why when you bleed brakes you have someone hold the last pump until you close the bleeder valve. Over all a good video though 👍
There was no need to open the brake line, your absolutely right....all that had to be done was to take the cap off of the master cylinder and surround the bottom of it with a rag in case fluid spills over while pushing the caliper piston in.👍! The only time you open the brake line is when a caliper or any hydraulic brake system part has to be removed.
@@crystrezerex2life I always open the brake fluid reservoir cap in the hood compartment so the fluid can flow, but never will lose the bleeder bolt.I was wondering why would she do that.

Nice to be working on a rust free car. My Camry is a Canadian car and the rear brakes are loaded with rust after 3 years. Getting the rotors off is more difficult, takes some know how and patience, plus knowing how to use a "French Wrench" helps....(Hammer, for you Americans!)
There are 2 small threaded holes closets to the center. I don’t know the size.If you get the right size threaded bolt, all you have to do is put 2 of them on and just snug them a bit at a time, then tap the rotor with the “French Wrench” and they pop right out. It also helps if you spray penetrating oil around the hun and those holes to break it loose. Just don’t go crazy soaking it. Hope this helps in the future. This is how I get them out.”
Why not use a scan tool and put brakes in service mode instead of brake bleeding. Doesn t sound right, bleeding for pad replacement. Bleed when hydraulic parts are changed or to flush the system.
+SailingPittsburgh If the bleeder valve is not opened, or the cap is not removed from the master cylinder, it will be considerably harder to compress the piston as there is nowhere for the pressure to be released.
@@1AAuto although harder to compress the piston, is it still possible to compress it without opening the bleeder valve? If it is possible I would prefer to do it that way. I am just not sure if it is.
Two things I do differently are, one I do not open the bleeder valve I remove the cap from the reservoir and still slowly push the piston back not to overflow the reservoir. Two I never let the brake caliper hang by the hose. I run a short elastic cord through the caliper and hang it on the spring. Other than that this is a great step by step brake change guide.
Yeah those parts are more quality than the ones you put on. EBC brakes are very well built and those brake pads are “red stuff” best in the market for performance
Would this video work for a 2016 Toyota Corolla rear brake replacement? I was hoping they’d have video for corollas since theirs is the best but no luck :/

I would say all is good with the exception of gravity bleeding. I would highly recommend having someone help you bleed the entire system once introducing air into the system. Just better peace of mind.
Good video that is not a performance rotor that's junk that would crack at a race track .. trust me haha but fine for street driving u actually get worse braking less surface area tho
I run into that all the time. I end up grinding the lobes down on the pads to make them fit. Just being careful not to take too much as you will hear them click from the slack

why you need to open the break bleeder for..sometimes you get air into the lines and that's more work to bleed the brakes
That is what I was thinking. I just pulled up the video to see if Toyota changed their e brake set up.

Talking about lifting the wheel - I use a 2x4, and some 1" or thinner wood as shims to help lift the wheel while I align it the holes over the studs.

i have a question. do you need to perform a bleed brake line method to let the air out or just tight back the bleed bolt???
Just dont loosen it. You can compress the piston without loosening it. If you do loosen it then yes bleed it.
