Hey SwitchUP Family hit all those buttons if you enjoy the video - I hope you enjoy my review of Blue Fire - Also check out our review of Haven which dropped a couple of days back ruclips.net/video/hO2f7HSujjQ/видео.html . Mark
LMAO! I ended up doing the same thing at 4:40! Ladder climb dash to pipe then couldn't get back once I did it! You used fencing to climb further up once on the other side, and I used braziers once flames were extinguished to do so, lol! Also: still a very nice little game here, but Team Cherry made a bonafide masterpiece, IMO! No comparison here possible, I'm afraid, tho stylistically similar in more than a few ways to be sure, at least!
Hello, could you please make a video with your top indie, eshop games? Like the Hades & stuff like that. & do 2 per category like rpg, action, beat em ups, etc. For people looking to create a game library. Thanks in advance
I bought this the day it came out, I'm thoroughly enjoying it and it's a lot of fun! Definitely recommend getting it (even better now since there's a sale)!
Bought this game on a whim together with Haven. I started playing it, not knowing what to expect. It sucked me in and even though it has it hiccups (like the crashes) it is a really nice game. Glad I bought it. With Haven I have to wait until either saturday or sunday because I'll be playing it coop with my wife.
At launch I found this game fun at times but also frustrating and glitchy. However the new update made a massive difference. It feels far more balanced and polished now. I shelved it a few months ago but now after restarting I'm having trouble putting it down.
Good point. If the devs aren't able to implement it in a patch, they should release a printable map online. Sounds silly I'm sure, but it could add another element using that for orientation.
MOVEMENT! That’s part of what made Hollow Knight so so good. The controls were so tight I benchmark any Metrovania game with it. I see people talk about the game’s control and it’s got me excited
@@SwitchUpYt so, I’m one of those weird humans who won’t mind the slip ups. Dark Souls taught me well 😭 Added this to my list and ask always, great review guys 😬
OMG I am so happy you mentioned being able to go where you're not supposed too. This happened to me in the first temple and I couldn't go back, cause the water level glitched and wouldn't allow me to climb the ladder back up without dying. And I lost all my money...

Tight controls and good level design in a 3D platformer? That's all good news, and at a good price! These games are rare, so I'll have to pick this one up. Great review as always.

Saying how you worked your way early to those places you were supposed to wait to get to reminded me of years back playing Super Metroid with my neighbour and wall jumping and bomb jumping to places we just weren't supposed to get to yet. Those were the days!
What's crazy is that in Super Metroid, it's possible for you to skip the Varia Suit completely and go straight to the Gravity Suit. You just have to rush through 3 or 4 rooms in Norfair without the protection of the Varia Suit.
Personally I'm excited about the lack of a map. I grew up on games without a map (or at most, an extremely simple map) and find myself opening them every few seconds in many of today's games. I would rather get lost exploring for an hour than see exactly where a key item is and be able to draw the path to it. There's a lot more intrinsic reward and sense of accomplishment.

That's definitely my kind of game. Makes me wish for a zelda / Hollow Knight crossover even more. They did it with Crypt of the Necrodancer so there's always hope.
Thanks again for the great review! I will pick it up some day, just not right away. Two questions: - In this video, the visuals are not very sharp / a bit blurry, which annoyed me pretty fast. Did you notice this as well, particularly because you played on PC and on Switch? - Is there any indication that the developers will further improve the game? Say in visuals, FPS, maybe adding a map, DLC hard mode, etc.
I am really thinking about picking it up. I agree with someone else that the lack of a map might make it difficult to put down and come back to at a later date.
Pre-ordered it and started playing it on day 1. No regrets. It is quite engaging and addicting. You die A LOT at first (at least I did) but after a while (4/5hrs for me) you start being equipped enough with jumps and spirits and it all becomes amazing. It flows, movements are super fun, and I found the "no map" thing fascinating in the long run, because I am experiencing the whole floating castle the way I imagine the character to be doing. Of course, I am so engrossed in it I will buy a physical copy as soon as it is out. Also hoping in some kind of sequel, maybe to explore what is outside of the castle? There are hints in the lore, and it sounds super cool and amazing. I would love to experience it. Yes. I am addicted LOL Tips: absolutely find the hunter dude before the sewers and buy the longer-sprint spirit and the no-hurt-falling spirit. They changed the whole experience for me (I died falling so many times!). Also, just explore everything and talk with anyone, they might be helpful.
Thank you for the review I was expecting stable 30 fps tho :( But might get it anyway Are you going to do a review on “cursed of the dead gods” ? It will be released on February 23
Love this game so much! Also I see the ability to creatively access areas they may not have expected you too earlier as great! Thanks for showing me an earlier way to get the spin attack! XD I didn’t realize you could get to the pipe from the latter lol. I waited to get the wall run first but I like that way better!
I picked it up first day. It really is a hell of a value. I'm not great at platformers, so I had a hell of a time completing it, and I wish that there was a bit more to the story, but it's a good time.

I am quite enjoying my time with this one. I definitely recommend everyone play this. It’s kinda like 3D hollow Knight meets dark souls. I haven’t played any 3D Zelda games but my friend tells me twilight princess was similar
@@aidankhaos7687 To each their own. To me though, I loved everything about BOTW _except_ that every other game had a *way* better story. I'm really hoping the sequel fixes that.
Looks like it even has some Immortals Fenyx mixed in with the various portal challenges. Just grabbed this one. TY for contributing to my backlog and game hoarding endeavors. :P
I still say it feels like Death Jr. with graphics and character design to me,, just more platforming and less on combo combat. Really wish it had a map, and a bit more focus on combat, but the fact that there is so much detail in the equipment makes it OK. I like that it handles well for the most part, moving feels like ice physics at first to me. Worth picking up so far. Grabbed this and Nuts, good weekend so far.
Not sure if it's just your play style or the camera moves too quick, but your review was actually starting to tingle my motion sickness... which has never happened before to me with a third person POV. Still, looks good; I'll likely pick it up But seriously, why no map? I foresee myself getting utterly lost. Maybe if I played the game through in one sitting, or over a couple days, but I don't have that kind of time on my hands. A twenty hour game would take me a few weeks, minimum, and realistically, since I'm not the best at platforming and usually have a couple games I'm actively playing through at a time, a couple months
Usually I prefer platforming games docked because I can use the pro controller, but I totally agree, for some reason this game just feels much better in handheld.
I've encountered my first game-breaking bug. My game crashed after meeting the Elevator guy. When loading back in he is nowhere to be seen, and the gate he opened for me is closed. I'll have to restart. Thankfully it was early in the game, and I really want to continue playing, since the game seems so fun.
You were talking me into it, but that lack of a map might be a deal breaker. I probably spend more time on the map in a metroidvania than I do in the game world. Ugh, that's really disappointing.
Ughhh, I like this game right now but I think I've run into the exact game design issue you mention. I have neither the double jump nor the wall run yet I'm in the city and have been able to get to all the homes. Yet I'm stuck game progression wise. Very frustrating since I don't even know where I need to go back to in order to get the necessary abilities. I enjoy the game but they need to at least either have a map or some NPCs with more helpful dialog for when you're "lost"...
Been waiting for this review, bosses look cool , looks like it needs a few things ironing out. Thought it might have been a bit longer started Dragons Dogma yesterday so that’s me sorted until monster hunter might give it a blast in the summer ☀️😎
Sonic the hedgehog did the same thing on the sega mega drive when you don't move the character for few moments he dose his own little thing while waiting for you to carry on
I didn't really know what this was initially, so thank you for the in-depth review! The movement of the character reminds me alot of Hat Kid in A Hat in Time :o It definetly seems like a good pick for fans of 3D Platformers and metroidvanias :)
It says a lot about the quality of games we have been getting lately as well as your outstanding reviews when an “84%” somehow feels a little disappointing lol. Great work as always guys.
@@eoghancallaghy9254 From what I have heard their console ports have been pretty rough so don't get too hype, but yeah I'll definitely be buying it again if it makes it to Switch but considering how far covid has pushed back their Below Zero schedule I think it might be a while.
i could say that the game really needs a brightness option, some areas are really hard to see if playing in a lit room at night or a sun lit room during the the day.

Not even gonna bother with no map. A lame release for sure.
I was thinking this, and with my game time being limited and spread far apart this will be hard on me.
Loads of metroid/castlevania/dark souls inspired games don't have maps. The devs don't want to hold your hand in that regard

just saw this in the Eshop on sale. I will definitely be picking it up for half price!!!!
Not sure if it's just your play style or the camera moves too quick, but your review was actually starting to tingle my motion sickness... which has never happened before to me with a third person POV. Still, looks good; I'll likely pick it up
But seriously, why no map? I foresee myself getting utterly lost. Maybe if I played the game through in one sitting, or over a couple days, but I don't have that kind of time on my hands. A twenty hour game would take me a few weeks, minimum, and realistically, since I'm not the best at platforming and usually have a couple games I'm actively playing through at a time, a couple months
I have camera speed up full and smoothing on. With it off you likely won't feel sick. The no map thing is a bit odd. Mark
@@SwitchUpYt Good to know about the camera smoothing, thanks :)
This looks brilliant, love the Zelda inspiration mixed with Hollow Knight! Thanks for the review guys! :)
Thanks Connie! Mark
Ah that's annoying
You were talking me into it, but that lack of a map might be a deal breaker. I probably spend more time on the map in a metroidvania than I do in the game world. Ugh, that's really disappointing.
Nice comprehensive review.
Definitely intrigued. I'll probably pick this one up after work
Visuals only 14/20? I think they look great. What am i missing here?
Helicopter spin attack 😆 🤣 love it .
I been waiting for this review excited!
Good stuff - let me know how I did! Mark
@@SwitchUpYt just finished watching a great review as always mate definitely helps me and others out to know this will be a good pick up haha
Brutal legend, what's the excuse for that not being ported?!
Switch up... My most trusted channel.
Been waiting for this review, bosses look cool , looks like it needs a few things ironing out. Thought it might have been a bit longer started Dragons Dogma yesterday so that’s me sorted until monster hunter might give it a blast in the summer ☀️😎
Sonic the hedgehog did the same thing on the sega mega drive when you don't move the character for few moments he dose his own little thing while waiting for you to carry on
Picked this game up straight away. Amazing stuff but have to agree with not having a map is tough..
the style of no map feel to play Dark Soul, and i don't mind that, for no map is much better, is the style of play i enjoy
Love the look and audio of this game I just might have to pick it up soon
I didn't really know what this was initially, so thank you for the in-depth review! The movement of the character reminds me alot of Hat Kid in A Hat in Time :o It definetly seems like a good pick for fans of 3D Platformers and metroidvanias :)
Devs have said a physical copy will be coming in the future and that there will be a Void Maker dlc in the future also!
Looks interesting, I'm busy replaying the res evil series at the moment but I'll definitely keep this one in mind when I'm finished!
It says a lot about the quality of games we have been getting lately as well as your outstanding reviews when an “84%” somehow feels a little disappointing lol. Great work as always guys.
Can you harass the subnautica studios? I'm dying over here!
Wow, hol up! Is subnautica coming to the switch?
@@eoghancallaghy9254 it had been announced like a year ago
@@rohanrodrigues7115 must have missed that but now I am hyped
@@eoghancallaghy9254 From what I have heard their console ports have been pretty rough so don't get too hype, but yeah I'll definitely be buying it again if it makes it to Switch but considering how far covid has pushed back their Below Zero schedule I think it might be a while.
Gonna wait a while before picking this up for it to be more polished
i could say that the game really needs a brightness option, some areas are really hard to see if playing in a lit room at night or a sun lit room during the the day.
Other than that I don't really have any complaints so far.
