What I really love about games like this, and say Vampire Survivor, is that indie games often dig down to what makes a game fun and addictive. So many major titles forget that we’re playing to have fun, not be put through steep learning curves and endless cut scenes. Been looking forward to this and it’s on my wish list now, for sure. Great review!

I played the demo and was addicted. This is a really good game. Everything just seems to work together which is rare for a lot of games these days. Kudos to the developers for just giving us a complete and fun game without the unnecessary crap
I've been anxiously awaiting this port for awhile now, and so far I'm loving it. Such a great game - with a lot more complexity/diversity of activity than one would think! Glad to see it getting some attention here.
I played the demo on a whim yesterday. Hadn't really heard of the game before that. But I got hooked instantly and bought it straight away. Haven't been able to put the game down since then. It's amazing and there's so much more to it than you can see at first glance.
Great video. I been playing this on my laptop since it dropped a few months ago. It's unbelievably addictive and fun. I love the character dave, I love the side characters, and the mesh of game play mechanics brought together. I also love sushi, that helps! Absolutely fantastic little game that has hours you can put in, and am sure it will be revered in such a way as a legend, not a masterpiece, but a legend game that is remembered over many years. Definately double dipping so I can have this on the go.
All I needed to know was whether it's running okay and it looks like that's the case! This game sounds super interesting, I'm gonna put it on my wishlist for sure 😁 Thanks for the review guys!
Bah!!!! Living vicariously through y'all for a few days lol can't get it til Monday 😅 been waiting for this to come to switch for ages!!!! So excited!!! So glad y'all loved it too!!! 💜
I only played about 20 mins of the demo and then put it down because I knew I was going to love it and so wanted to wait for the full release. Download finished and just about to start playing!
I have this game on PC/Steamdeck and just glad it's getting a wider release as I think it's a great game people will love. I'm hoping it makes it to more consoles, but the team seems to continue to support it and posts update videos. If I didn't have a Steamdeck, I would've bought it again to play handheld as I think it's a fun game to chill on the couch with.
I pre ordered this one and I very very rarely pre order, but the demo was too good. Dont regret it one bit, amazing game. This is one crazy year for games!
I'm in the same boat as you guys. I've heard this game mentioned all over the place but never actually looked into what its all about, just seen the odd screenshot here and there. Finally got around to watching this video to see what its all about. You've sold me. Damn you.
Wow! This looks utterly charming, I can well imagine losing HOURS playing it... You can tell a lot of love (and hard work) went into it's making, some lovely details in the backgrounds
Hell yeah! This is the one time i actually won't watch the Review, because I know it is brilliant and I don't want to get spoiled. I already played a few hours and absolutely love it. The score also does not disappoint. See ya ✌🏻
@@dogfood142Sorry but I have to disagree. I think they always do their best to give you the Information you need but always hide major twists or late game Story. With this game I just want to enjoy every frame.
I impulsively bought it based on the good I have heard about it. However, being I only play handheld I find a lot of the UI elements way too small. Call it old age if you like but scalable user interface is important

That looks like proper fun. That mini game with the beer was the icing on the cake.
I love the reviews and always look to you guys before buying but damn I felt this was a gem from the trailer and instantly got it. I am not disappointed. Addictive gameplay with great cut scenes and much more.
Loved it on PC (Got my husband to buy it on steam when it was on a little sale and we both LOVED it) Had to pick it up on switch, a little harder control wise but LOVE it!! Great review!

Mark, this is an excellent review. Really! One of the reviews I have enjoyed most in some time and will lead to me getting this game. Thank you. Love it!
That's awesome you're doing a review on this game right now...I tried the demo, and wouldn't mind buying this game at some point..you might hear about my home state on the news..I live in Maine...some bad shit happened in Lewiston...mass shooting. Crazy times, but this video gave me a nice mental break from all that sad, negative news...and for that, I thank you. Can't wait to get this game!
I played the demo at the beginning of November and finally let myself wrap up the story nearly a month later, it was just so fun and satisfying upgrading, collecting and exploring. Easily the best $25 I’ve spent in a LONG time.
2:22 hello, are you able to use the L button for changing gears and the short dash? I cant get past chapter 6 cuz the L button does not work :( i have changed controllers 3x already.
I've been scuba diving with my dad since I was a kid and I love the concept to this game, just watching this trailer feels like home. The small details of this game such as how depths actually affect time underwater are so cool to see. Might pick this one up
The first indie game i pre-ordered after playing the demo it made me want to play more. I love the little detail the dev put into this game just to make the phone in the game more realistically accurate. The gameplay is addictive and fun and a little bit challenging at some point. 10/10 worth the money.
Please stop calling Dave The Diver (DTD) an indie game. I don't know who started this, but pixel graphics alone don't make a game an indie game. Mintrocket, the studio that created DTD has 30 team members, which makes them a AA studio. On top of that, they are a division of Nexon. Nexons is an $18 billion USD company! Mintrocket themself stated that they are not an indie studio. It’s unfair to all the other indie studios to call DTD an indie game. And don't get me wrong, I like DTD, nothing against the game or studio.
Man, what a gameplay loop! I adore this little gem. Don’t underestimate the story. U will love the Great characters, lovely aesthetic, fun, surprises etc. Been a while since a game made me stay up late and just say ‘I will play one more day then sleep’ 😀 Shout out to the game makers and everyone involved. How lucky are us gamers this year. So many games but so little time ❤️👍
Dang it I’ve really been thinking abt getting this. I downloaded the demo but haven’t tried it yet. Thanks for the Switchup review and have a good weekend everyone!
Completed the story last night. It's one of the few games, I'll keep "diving back into" post main story. It's absolutely a must buy! Hope it receives updates and expansions.
I bought this for Steam deck as its cheaper on humble at 13 pound with 20 percent discount and I can't put it down. I literally have a backlog of the new launches and this one has me addicted. It has so much style and laughter. It's an absolute gem of a game
Since seeing this in a Nintendo direct, I’ve been looking forward to it. From your review it appears to meet my expectations and then some. Alas, I’m a physical buyer so perhaps one for the wish list and sale
I've been waiting for this review with baited breath. And, as someone who has played the PC version, I am incredibly happy to hear the game is well received with a review score to reflect that. Time to go make the purchase.
I’m loving it! They fixed the load times just enough and added little loading animations instead straight black screens. Small but that was my biggest gripe from the demo. Shows how good it is! This game is so unique and has so much personality. More mechanics keep getting added and I’m surprised how much depth there is every time! Now we just need that new update with the new content. Thank you devs!
It’s VERY addicting. A game I waited so long to get a Switch port and I was super excited when it got announced at Direct. Also, you value 19/20 but shows 16/20 haha
Brilliant review this. I was always intrigued and likely to get this game based on the praise I've read elsewhere, but this is probably the first review that got me genuinely excited to play. Great job explaining what makes the game so addictive.
Loved the demo for this game so happy to see it carries through to the full release. I just feel bad that there are so many other great things out at the minute I won’t be getting it until a later date, probably when it’s on sale but glad to hear it’s a good’un 👍🏻
That looks fun. Might I suggest a follow up game? The underwater adventures of Jacques Cousteau! (Or a silly version of the above with Jacques Clouseau instead).
Oh bloody Nora, sat here with 20 mins before I pick up kids. Really getting into Phantom Liberty/Cyber Punk as with patches it's opening up to me for the first time. Have Super Mario Wonder on permanent between kids and I. Then this!!!! I tried to get Dave the Diver to work on my Pc last year but my Pc is on last legs. So I've been excited for the Switch release. Funny how just a few screenshots can give you the interest in a game and you know it should be good even before playing? Maybe that is when something is quality throughout and it shows. Anyway, your reviews are my go to as you're very similar I think to my lifestyle (young kids, busy, old skool gamer but enjoyed new stuff too) and any game you give 90 or above to is a definite. Just glad I got the money out for the kids Halloween Disco tonight earlier or I might not have had enough after getting this too 👍
The presentation is very reminiscent of Dynamite fishing. Did those guys work on this game too? The meta humor, the rinse and repeat cycle, , seems interesting. This one goes on my watch list for sure.
Seems like it would make sense that you can drop some of your own oxygen tanks sort of half randomly above the surface before diving. Mini tanks maybe.
I never finished Valhalla and reallllly enjoyed Mirage. It has its own story. It really goes back to the originals in terms of having to be stealthy and taking out people. Honestly I've had such a blast. I'm on the last quest and played 25 hours + so not as short as some have said (I have done a couple of side quests and collectables)
Enjoying it much more than I though I would. As a former cook though, I would like to see some more detail with regards to restaurant operations and analytics. Like, a PMIX would be really easy to add into the Management app and would add another layer to that side of the game.
This game just oozes style. Diving and running a sushi shop on paper is not something I would consider a fun game typically, but I can't deny the appeal of this game and can see myself getting it!
Edit: Euro price error in video should be €19.99
