    I have to say, you're probably my favorite recording musician on RUclips. From professional to professional, you know what YOU want to do and you don't get bogged down by the opinions or views of others.
    Too many times do we come across a saxophonist on RUclips, jams, or other events who have really great potential or ability, but only do the usual "Smooth cover" versions of pop songs and not what they really want or can do. Your arrangements are great, your solos are flavorful while not dipping out of the box without taste, you definitely have a strong sense of what your sound is and a grasp on the music theory/sense to make this happen. Plus hot damn you're blazing fast at arranging, it takes me at least a few entire days off from work on one chart until I'm happy with it to have an ensemble play through it start revisions, and that's not even passable until at least a week or two.
    Keep doing what you're doing, because while you don't have nearly enough viewers for what your love and work deserves, your pieces gives me hope that more musicians will come to break the mold and inspiration as an educator and performer.
    When I fell into a deep, deep depression, I pretty much stopped everything music and put my winds, keys, and recording equipment away to collect dust while I just went with the flow of life.
    I kept listening to your arrangements alongside a few mainstays, usual Coltrane, Sanborn and all that, but I wasn't listening to the technicalities like I used to love doing. Eventually (after a 4 or 5 month stint) I started up performing and practicing again because of my fiancee, my students, and honestly, the work you put out. I can always hear the passion and emotion behind the music you play, unlike the constant barrage of pseudo-emotion found in the typical Smooth-pop cover.
    I became a musician because I felt that Music makes a difference in everyone's life, but too much happened and I lost that feeling for a long while. Then, the planets aligned and slapped some sense into me. Thanks for being one of those planets, Carlos. Keep being a better musician than the one you were yesterday.

      This is perhaps one of the nicest comments I've *ever* received on this channel - thank you so so much! I really value integrity as a musician, as well as efficiency! More viewers would be nice, but I have enough right now to where I can sustain myself decently enough financially with this channel... so I'm happy! Thank you for finding so much value in my work :)

    Your arrangements always touch and inspire me! It's like you've got a tune for every feeling! While I dig them all, when I feel upbeat (or need a little boost), your Yoshi's Island Medley always hits the spot. When I need a bit of courage, your arrangement of Snake Eater always makes me feel like I could punch a bear in the face! And this arrangement gives me a sense of victory and completion - like it's all worked out, or will work out in the end!
    Also, was that a bit of a reference at 2:15 to the groove Snarky Puppy has in "The Curtain"? If so, killer job! I love your ability to take elements and ideas and make them your own!

      Cool! Snarky Puppy is absolutely an inspiring group full of great people! I was blessed enough to have a lesson with Justin Stanton, and it was beyond incredible! A true genius and kind soul!
      Wow, I feel silly! Tell Me a Bedtime Story was one of the songs that really rooted my love for jazz. I should have recognized that, but hey, I'll definitely not have trouble discerning that now. It's great to see your roots influencing your works!

    God, this is definitely one of my all-time favourite Zelda covers. I never knew I needed jazzy Zelda in my life, but I love the Rito Village theme and you made it even better!!

    Would've been nice, if you had dressed up as a chicken for greater immersion. Still a great cover though, the beginning is a bit too calm for my tastes, but seeing how it's a cover of BotW it makes sense to implement the slower music style of that game. :3

    This track honestly makes me emotional. As a kid, I played through all of the Wind Waker with my best friend, my first Zelda, and he showed me the ropes the whole way through. Great memories. Now I'm in college and in the stressful times, Breath of the Wild is like an escape for me, a beautiful world to get lost in over and over again. The first time I heard this theme in Breath of the Wild, it gave me chills all over thinking back to Wind Waker. And now every time I hear this arrangement, mixing two of my all time favorite games with my love for jazz music, I get more chills than ever. Carlos, you are killing it my man. Thank you =)

    Good to see the drumset wasn't just a one-time thing. Amazing arrangement Carlos! Even if it's not your "best", it's still pretty dang good, especially the saxophone choir at around 4:48; love when you do that. Is the drumset coming with you to college or is it just going to be an at-home thing?

    • @insaneintherainmusic
      @insaneintherainmusic  7 лет назад +1

      The drumset will not be coming to college, but fortunately, I've been backlogging a ton of videos while I've been home for winter break, so there won't be too many videos where the drums aren't live, hopefully!

    I’ve been playing through hollow knight recently, and It’s honestly a really good game so far. While I’m not exactly sure how you could make jazz covers out of its soundtrack, I’m sure you could find a few tracks that would work. Maybe greenpath’s music would work? Anyways, good cover as always!
