this was a sick arrangement; that guitar work was so tasty and this whole thing was a good balance of chill vibes and dark dives 🖤
KINGDOM HEAT
Making a jazz arrangement of this song was such a big brain idea, because I wouldn't immediately think that it would work.
Remembering this song in it's original context, the first time I heard it as a kid. The emotional tension was so high as you arrive to Hollow Bastion, this huge empty feeling place, having the keyblade taken away, being left by Donald and Goofy.
And then there was this song, with it's relentless melody and cold tones, I remember the chills it sent down my spine. It left me feeling lost and scared.
Your arrangement is too warm, balanced, and full for the emotion of the original, replaced instead by a more confident version. Like, you've been through a lot, but you're stronger and more dynamic now than when you were a child, but also, still feeling lost at times.
That's a great description of what The Consouls do - warm, balanced, confident, strong and dynamic VGM covers which retain the identity of the original but so big brain that they usually have a surprising and wonderful twist like my very first Consouls favourite Zelda Main Theme.

This is the most laid back version of Hollow Bastion I've ever heard and...I'm very pleased with it, now all I need is a cup of tea with this on a 1 hour loop and I'll be set for the evening

never played kingdom hearts but this sounded great
God I love when you guys cover my favorite games like this. It's a nostalgia trip with a dose of extra cool. I get to imagine the original composition while listening to this at the same time and it just makes me happy.

I think my favorite part of this cover, beyond Mark's fantastic drum fills, is hearing "A Cyber's World" quoted and then getting hit with the lick within the next few moments lol

Just awesome. This has so much tension, couldn't be played better. It's when the right people and right piece come together, astonishing things can happen. The original has so much drama and power but you were able to harness it and took it to another level.
This was incredible. One of my favorite kingdom hearts tracks. And you certainly did the original track justice.

1st edit: And knowing the song, it's extremely complex from a technical standpoint. I can only imagine the pain involved in mastering the time signature of this track.
